jgb9348	3.5 Singlecut The Starship Very hazy and super pure golden coloured body with a pretty thick, three to four centimetre tall just off-white head that's microfoamed and tops the beer nicely for a long time, all above the 85 per cent opaque body. Aroma of crisp citrus with lemons and oranges here along with a strong wheatie malt note and some flowers to couple with a bit of breadiness here, too. Medium-bodied; Fairly mild flavours at first with a slight grainy and rustic malt character that seemingly comes from nowhere, with some lighter citrus notes as well and a light dryness from herbal and grassy flavours at the very end. Aftertaste is pretty rich and well-rounded throughout, with some slight bitterness here, a kick of flowers and herbal dryness with the rustic, grainy malts somehow still the strongest, here. Overall, an enjoyable, rather unassuming (hazies shouldn't be malty and rustic!) beer that doesn't really fit well in the nuanced IPA style categories - it's simply a nice IPA, pure and simple. Good to try, pretty fresh and fairly local - a good standard option if you can find it! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Wegman's [grocery] in Gainesville (Lake Manassas), Virginia on 05-October-2022 for US$2,33 (part of a mixed six pack), canned on 17-May-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 20-October-2022. In the mouth there’s malts, chocolate and vanilla. Later on lactose becomes evident, along with traces of liquorice. It is quite sweet and slightly sugary.
