Finhead	3.7 Excel Black Breath Ink black pour with a thin, brown head. The aroma has blackberry, chocolate, licorice, and vanilla. It has a full body with slick texture and a soft finish. The taste is very sweet with some slight alcohol flavor. Thursday, December 28, 2023

coachd	4.1 Excel Ryeday The 13th Butterscotch and caramel aroma with some dark fruit and booze. You can sense the rye barrel right away. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Tastes sweet with good oak and whiskey barrel notes, a surprising hop bite and slight booze at the end. I’m drinking the 2021 version; this would have aged well. Thin yet smooth palate with hops, oak and booze in the finish. This was very good. Tuesday, June 21, 2022

Taste is roast, chocolate, cocoa, coconut, vanilla, dark fruits. Medium bodied, well balance, tasty. A little rustic. Really nice. Wednesday, February 17, 2021

Pours a deep, dark, almost opaque brown with a hint of amber at the bottom and a finger of soft tan head that settles into a bubbly ring and uneven film while leaving some trailing lace in the glass. Notes of charred oak, roasted malts, burnt sugar, dark chocolate, overcooked oatmeal, raisins, earth, and rum. Medium-plus bodied, with moderate carbonation and a roasty mouthfeel. Notes of caramel, boozy bread, heavy farmhouse funk, cookies, elderflower, orange peel, brown sugar, and wet leaves. Pours a clear golden copper with a moderate off-white head that settles into a ring and nearly complete film, leaving a bit of trailing lace behind. Notes of earthy funk, wet grass and straw, sweet and toasty biscuit malts, residual sugars, muddled fruit, booze, oak, red wine, and damp florals. Notes of raspberries, oak, honey, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, plums, grapes, and blueberries. Medium-bodied, with a fruity, tangy, sweet mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nice maltbill: caramelly, a little bready and nutty, mild toasty, not very roasty. Hint of fruity ale esters, mild earthy/herbal hop bitterness. Medium body and carbonation, well-balanced mouthfeel, pleasantly mellow alcoholic warmth, malty aftertaste. Perhaps less complex than their description promises, but good stuff.
