Ol' Glory America's Best Amber Light
From a can. Pours clear dull amber with a fizzy beige head. Tastes like musky malt, sweet booze, corn, and flat, stale beer. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet musky booze, corn, bready malt, and stale beer.

Can thanks to sonnycheeba. Pours a dark amber with pretty much no head. Aroma and taste are basic malts and hops. Meh

Can. Pours clear amber with fizzy, white head. Aroma is cereal and lightly toasted malts, faint apple, faint caramel, and a slight touch of funk. Flavor is malty and bland, but no real off-flavors. Light/medium body.

Had this beer last night. Picked up a 24 case for 10 bucks. Cracked one open and it smelled of grapes fermented in yeast and barley. Tasted like very bad red wine mixed with hops, yeast and barley. Has a hint of astringent alcohol taste. It’s hard drinking any beer with a grape flavor to it. I love wine but I don’t wanna be reminded of it when drinking a beer. Great for a college party and better than steel 211 or colt 45. Id take a Coors light any day over this.

$2.00/6-pack and $2.00/4x16oz cans at Big Lots. Really. That’s 25% less than the cheapest beer regularly available here, Genesee, which goes for $4/6x16oz. Is that even a legal price in Ohio? Anyway, Ol’ Glory has a light amber color, no head after 5 seconds, though this is one you drink straight from the can, so who cares. Watery with a slightly sweet taste, and no other aromas or flavors of note. Pretty lame and boring overall, but unoffensive and drinkable. Not a good beer by any stretch of the imagination, but considering the ridiculously cheap price I can’t knock it too much, and you could do worse for 2-3 times as much. Maybe better than Walgreens’ Big Flats but not as tasty as Trader Joe’s house brand. I’ll keep Genesee Cream Ale when I’m feeling broke (which is admittedly mainly due to the convenience of it being sold virtually everywhere around here).

12oz can. Waxy plastic sweet aroma. If you aren’t smoking crack, this beer probably won’t satisfy. Pretty offensive, horrid actually.

Can. Pours with a lightly orange tint, clear medium sized white head that fades. Apple sauce and sulfur aroma, lightly grainy, musty, metallic. Flavors are medium malty, light caramel, sulfur. Very lively carbonation. Medium bodied, sour apple, waxy.

Ol' Glory America's Best Amber Light
Type: 12-oz. can Glass: Firestone pint glass From: Pacific Liquor at Renaissance at North Park (San Diego), Calif. Price: $2.99 for a 6-pack Purchased: June 28, 2013 Consumed: June 28, 2013 Misc.: N/A Poured a caramel amber clear color with 1-2 fingers of gray head that dissipated rather quickly. No lacing on the sides. Very poor retention. Gave it a bonus 0.25 for the patriotic can. Smelled heavy on the malts. Got grass, bread, cereal, honey, grape, caramel and corn. Potent, but can’t decide if that’s good or bad. Tasted somewhat similar to the nose. Got metallic notes first though. Also honey, grass and corn, and some combination of grape and green apple. Light body. Thin texture. Soft carbonation. Abrupt, watery finish. Not that great of beer, but $2.99 for a 6-pack is a pretty good value. Not bad for the style either.

Poured from 12 ounce can purchased at Big Lots (yes, Big Lots). Yellow/amber hue with good clarity, large slightly off white head that quickly left with little lacing, aroma of sweet malt and not-so-sweet chemicals, light sweet malty flavor with slightly bitter finish. This beer is much better than I expected. It tastes like watered down Hudepohl Amber, which it may be since City Brewery makes both beers under contract. I think I’ve found a new lawnmower beer. I disagree with the amber ale designation. This is a lager. However, since Ratebeer doesn’t have an amber lager style listing, what the hell, let’s call it a premium lager.

Can. Pours a clear amber with an average white head. Aroma of malt and skunk. Taste is similar. Not much going on for this except the patriotic can.

Amber color, light head, mildly malty aroma with vague chicken-liver scent. Full-bodied for a light beer, some bitterness, not much flavor of course, but what is there is pleasant...in a caramel and chicken-livery kind of way. I drank the 16 oz./1 pint can that comes in balls to the walls packaging, including an image of the Iwo-Jima flagraising as well as The Pledge of Allegiance. Ol’ Glory! YEah Baby!! Yeah!
