The Sour Note Petite Sour Saison
Shared 750 ml. bottle poured to snifters showing a cloudy, orangey gold color, with a modest layer of white head froth, and ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was light yeast, citrusy hints as orange & lemon zest, passion fruit, and a touch of dryness. Light to medium bodied, fair carbonation complemented rather than intensified the tart, and subtle puckering nature. Light, Gose-like salinity also followed in the flavor. Pleasantly dry finishing.

Tastes like it smells with a bitter and slightly hot medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Some caramel on the tongue as well. Still, enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours black with small and bit brown head. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate and vanilla. In taste the beer is sweet with lots of chocolate and vanilla plus great milky feeling (like in chocolate shake). The beer is medium bodied (for RIS feels like light bodied), softly carbonated. Great beer for dessert.

18th Street / Mikkeller Grapefruit Dead
Rated on 8-11-2016 at The Hoppy Gnome. The appearance of thus draft beer is a very small off-white head that is fully lasting, transparent amber body, no carbonation observed, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is citrus hops, grapefruit, fruity, juicy, earthy, and malt. The flavor presents light bitterness, citrus hops, grapefruit, earthy, and malt. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer has a lingering fruity aftertaste that is bearable. This beer is worth trying.

18th Street Contessa
Bottle. Golden body with a huge, pillowy off-white head. Aroma of pepper, spice, plastic, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety/thick texture, lively carbonation. Overly spiced and overly sweet in the finish. Top it off with unfinished malts. Worse is the price (unfortunately, it was not priced on the shelf and I forgot to ask at the counter). $18 a bomber for a bad saison and a mediocre beer. Goodbye 18th Street.

12 oz bottle from 2016. The pour is a lighter black with a no head and no lace. The aroma is full of nail polish remover and a light cocoa. Heavy bourbon and oak. The flavor is much better. Sweet dark fruits, lots of oak and bourbon. I like it. It’s heavy on the bourbon. The lighter dark fruit comes through, and the roast is big on the back end. The mouthfeel is a little light and lightly carbed. It’s interesting. The aftertaste is chocolatey and full of bourbon.

12oz can from Delocks in Munster. Orangey amber pour with an off-white head leaving streaky lace. Aroma has sweet fruits, pine, citrus and sweet malts. Taste is of sweet fruits, grapefruit, pineapple, light tangy pine and a sweet caramel backbone. Somewhat dank and syrupy which is surprising for style. Medium bodied with little alcohol presence. The blend is very well done and the carbonation is softly constant. Finishes tangy bittersweet, leaning to the sweet side slightly. This is a very tasty pale - quite impressed. 14.7
