2.5 Village Vintner Hop Rocket Tap at VV. Buttery diacetyl bomb, really glad I didnt go for a full pour. Outright bad. Another iffy sample. Surprisingly bad after the solid Cold IPA. Friday, March 1, 2024

3.7 Village Vintner Vintner's Revenge Tap at VV. Big, fudgy chocolate bourbon. At 65 IBU maybe more my style base beer. Certainly still has some bitterness. A little astringent booze tone. Overall pretty solid. Friday, March 1, 2024

3.1 Village Vintner Alt Tap at Village Vintner. Kind of odd for the style, more of a hoppy light brown than the typical brewpub example. Kind of has that stale beer in the line taste too though. Scottish Ale at times. Imperfect but maybe just a bad sample. Friday, March 1, 2024

4 Village Vintner Stone Cold IPA Tap at Village Vintner. Pretty decent Cold IPA, the Trident is a nicer hop choice than the other two. Pretty much a nice IPA, has some body, bitterness. Fully enjoyable. Friday, March 1, 2024

1.1 Village Vintner Red Head Ale Poor quality beer. Seems like something is off to it, some rotting fruit, chemicals. Sunday, September 8, 2013

2.9 Village Vintner Scottish Ale This style is popular in northern illinois and I have no idea why, every brewery who brews one seems to manage to make it extremely non-descript. Sunday, September 8, 2013

3 Village Vintner No Doubt Stout Sold as Double Oat Stout when I visited. Pours a very deep black coloring with a nice 1/2 inch dense creamy tan head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma has a mild roasted character with a nutty, bready note with a touch of prune at the finish. Flavor is very strong of a bready nutty note at the start, strong prune/plum middle with a strong nutty ending. Body is light and feels very thin. Overall an okay brew. Has a fairly unique flavor for a stout. Friday, April 5, 2013

3.7 Village Vintner Hop Rocket Clean deep golden color with a low white head. Aroma has a good grapefruity nose with a light mango fruitiness late. Grapefruit acidity comes through nicely in the flavor with some light grainy presence to help hold the hops. Body is modest and low/mild carbonation. Overall a pretty good brew. Hop flavor is nice and the perfect amount of alcohol and body to compliment the high hoppiness. Friday, April 5, 2013

3.3 Village Vintner Dunkelweizen Hazy amber color with a small white head. Aroma has banana, light clove, strong butterscotch (think Werthers candy). Flavor has a good balance of banana and clove with a mild sweet grainy ending. Body is light/modest in density with pretty low carbonation. Overall a good brew. Flavors are well balanced but a bit on the mute side for the style. Malt really doesn’t come through in the nose or flavor. Friday, April 5, 2013

3 Village Vintner Octobierfest Amber beer with a slight chill haze and a small white head. Aroma has a light grainy nose, very mild grassy hoppiness and a light sweetness in the finish. Flavor has light pils malt at the start but moves to a pretty sweet middle, lots of grassy hops and finishes with a light spice and sweet fruity flavor. Body is modest in density with a really dry finish. Overall an okay brew but it’s extremely sweet for the style and the malt is in the background. Friday, April 5, 2013

2.4 Village Vintner Belgium Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout 4oz sample at the source... Pours like an a stage stout, cola black with reddish edges and topped with a thin ring of barely off-white head... Barrel forward nose with bourbon, slightly soured... Grapey bourbon throughout in the flavor. Stout profile is completely lost. Thin bodied with somewhat lively carbonation. Not good. 3.6 Village Vintner Hop Rocket Taster pour consumed at the source... Pours a mostly transparent apple cidery hue ...Citrus and floral hop notes, a touch of honey and pale malt... Clean citrus and mild tropical fruit notes with a bitter sharp dry finish that extends well into the finish and beyond. A touch thin for the style, body-wise with adequate carbonation overall. Flavor lacks a but of follow through. Saturday, March 16, 2013

3.5 Village Vintner Black Rye P.A. On tap at the source... Pours a stouty black mocha hue, less intense at the edges, more auburn and topped with a cream light beige head... Fairly clean citrus green hoppy nose with a mild roast. A touch of diacetyl butteriness but not too protruding... Flavors are more of the same with a chalky roast cocoa profile upfront with some backing citrus pine hope and a prolonged piney bitterness on the backend. Medium bodied or just there above with adequate carbonation. Saturday, March 16, 2013
