Travlr	4.4 De Garde / Tilquin L’Assemblage du Chat Botle at the source. Staff told me that Pierre sent all the beer for this collab and let de Garde do what they liked with it, he trusted them. I think he nid the right thing! It pours clear with a white head. Mild funk and light tannins in the nose and slightly more funk on a background of light gin and more tannins in the taste. Flavour is much the same, with plenty of phenols, wild head, oak, and some vinous notes. This is clearly from back in the day when De Garde has phenol issues. nimbleprop	3.2 De Garde The Château Sample at the roost pours a clear burnt gold with some white head. Nose has lemon rind, funk, neutral barrel. A little plastic. You can tell it's new world. Flavor nears authentic but there is a residual sweetness that isn't right and doesn't even remind of Boon. Sourness and funk are both dialed back. Some bandaid but whelming at best. Finishes medium bodied, lightly creamy and the malt oddly shows up. Weird. Maybe bottle treatments are better? Friday, January 26, 2024
