jgb9348	4.2 Crooked Run Noriega Very cloudy, deep and straw yellow coloured body, with even some hints of beige and light muddied copper, all with a very nice, microfoamed tan head, about four centimetres tall - beautiful and 95 per cent opaque. Aroma of grapefruit, pungent resinous hops, a lot of bitterness from alpha acids, some alcohol and quite a bit of grassiness noticeable. Medium to Full-bodied; Very bitter, grassy and dank, resinous hop notes shine through, with a grapefruit, herbal and perfumey finish, but a lot of bitterness here and a good deal of rich malts to support the hops, but the bitterness and dank qualities of the hops shows stronger. Aftertaste shows the floral and piney hop notes with a lot of bitterness still remaining and a subdued sweetness that is noticeable, but isn't cloying and not comparable to the amount of malt and especially hops here. Overall, a very nice beer, definitely on the older-school side of things, with a nice bitterness, solid malt backbone and smooth sweetness - but the format is crazy - a twelve ounce can would be much nicer for such a 'big' beer - great to sample very fresh and well-recommended if you can find it and to be honest - handle it (I don't know if I really can!). I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from The Perfect Pour in Elkridge, Maryland on 25-October-2022 for US$4,99 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 15-November-2022. hman43	3.2 Crooked Run Gilt It pours pale straw with a white head. Head retention is very good. It has a strong biscuit and cracker aroma with some herbal qualities. The herbal flavors are a bit strong in the flavor with the biscuit and cracker being more in the background. It has a peppery type note in the background. It has a medium light body. jgb9348	2.4 Crooked Run Storm Ever so slightly hazy golden and light copper coloured body with a large, four to five centimetre tall just off-white head that stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of grass, hay, some citrusey notes from the hops, but also some bitterness and grainy notes from malts. Light-bodied; Very funky, astringent and aspartamey flavours show at first with a light bitterness from the hops, but also a dry grainy and biscuity quality of the malt with some metal and more pungent finish that doesn't really seem like an IPA at all, but rather a dry lager. Aftertaste is crisp and showing much more of the yeastie, bready qualities than any hop bitterness or notes from the hops here - this doesn't really show anything of quality, period. Overall, not such a good beer throughout and definitely not for the style. I'll rethink buying others from this brewery at all, since the two I had were very SUB par. Sad to see this local, but it's okay to have a bad brewery - just avoid them if you are in the know. I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased from The Beer Cave @ Bob's Sunoco in Callaway, Maryland on 10-May-2022 for US$3,63 sampled at my house here in Washington on 23-June-2022. jgb9348	3.5 Crooked Run Grove Thick and chewy looking straw yellow coloured, not even golden, with an orange-juicy glow that has a fairly large three centimetre tall off-white soapy head on top that leaves an ugly lace on the sides. Aroma of citrus fruits, lemons, grass, hay, soft alpha acid bitterness from the hops with a bit of dryness, too, but still a lot of citrusey notes. Light to barely Medium-bodied; Crisp, very grassy and citrusey flavours shine through everything else, with a light wheatie note, some hay and perfume, but this all finishes with a pretty astringent, aspartamey, fake sugar flavour. Aftertaste is dry, lemons, perfume and wheat come through, as does some hop bitterness and floral aspects, with a pretty good balance, and almost no alcohol at all is noticeable here. Overall, a nice, dry and citrusey IPA that goes down pretty easily (it shows it's six per cent ABV and only that) with a good citrus bite. Good to sample, especially extra fresh and recommended to all who like the style, but some of the aspartame notes are a bit funky. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from The Beer Cave @ Bob's Sunoco in Callaway, Maryland on 10-May-2022 for US$4,50 sampled at my house here in Washington on 14-May-2022. Moderate hay for the malt, light herbs for the hops, moderate to heavy dried leaves, meadow and musty basement for the yeast, with a hint of citrus and pineapple in the background. Head is small, fizzy, white, with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear straw, but murky beige on the last pour. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and slightly bitter. Palate is light, watery with a fizzy carbonation and a crisp finish.
