Notes of vanilla, bourbon, charred oak, roasted malts, caramel, tobacco, fudge, and earth. Full-bodied, with low carbonation and a boozy, sweet, roasty mouthfeel. Very good. A lot of barrel character, but not as much as the Double Vanilla, somehow. About even overall. Monday, April 22, 2024

Oakes	3.7 Side Project Satsuma Slight haze, quite pale, not a whole lot of head. The aroma has a good wild yeast character, and a lot of citrus. That mandarin comes through with its characteristic bright sweetness, it's got a fair bit of tartness, and light bugs. Saturday, April 20, 2024
mcberko	3.4 Side Project Satsuma 500mL bottle, pours a hazy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma has plenty tart citrus, some wild yeast, and some straw-like notes. Flavour is quite citrusy, with plenty of orangey citrus, some wild yeast, and light acetic notes. Not the most complex, honestly; a bit too acetic. It's decent. Saturday, April 20, 2024

Scopey	4.1 Side Project Oude La Ruche Kriek Bottle shared with my bro & wifey with a dissipating fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet - sour, juicy, tart, tangy, musty, ripe crunchy cherry, damp oak, dull funk, hay, barnyard and haylage. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, tart, puckering, juicy, bright cherry, light vanilla, cherry Bakewell, cranberry, raspberry, dry oak, some tannin, deep funk, barnyard, vinous, lactic, sherbet, fizzy cherry candy, light leather and some nuttiness with a bone dry finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Works very well. Friday, April 19, 2024

Pours a deep, dark, opaque brown with pretty much no head. Notes of dark chocolate, rye whiskey, oak, molasses, dried dark fruits, roasted malts, and vanilla. Full-bodied, with no carbonation and a rich, coating, warming mouthfeel that really digs in. This needs to warm up to really be fully enjoyed. Notes of vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, roasted malts, bourbon, oak, ancho chilis, tobacco, and molasses. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, warming, spicy, roasty mouthfeel. Little bit of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Notes of vanilla, figs, rye and bourbon whiskey, oak, baking spices, caramel, brown sugar, and fruitcake. Notes of oak, bourbon, apple brandy, caramel, brown sugar, dates, figs, vanilla, honey, molasses, and baking spice. Full-bodied, with no carbonation and a rich, sweet, boozy mouthfeel. Very tasty. Aroma is strong spicy bourbon, caramel, milder vanilla and cocoa. Taste is bourbon, caramel, milder dark fruit. Silky smooth, soft carbonation, no harsh alcohol, finish as taste. ClarkVV	3.9 Side Project / Evil Twin Maltvin Blend #2 750mL bottled 2023, drunk 4/12/24. Dark mahogany. Ruby highlights, clear. No head/brief bubbles. Port-like with chocolate, grape and light spice. Juicy raisin, vanilla and surprisingly tame spice from the Willett. Some caramel-toffee lingering. No booze. Clean and mellow. Getting more cherry as it warms/breathes. Raisin, wood, spicy Willett. If it wasn't heavy in the nose, it certainly is here. Malts are mellow, deep. Possibly a touch lighter than I'd prefer? Maybe still some last alcohol loosens it. Interesting, well-developed whiskey and English maltiness but just a touch boozey. Saturday, April 13, 2024

Notes of mango, pineapple, bretty funk, peach, white grapes, lemon, oak, pale and sweet and bready malts, and melon. Light-medium bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a fruity, tart, funky, zesty mouthfeel. Excellent. Best of the LBF series so far. Friday, March 29, 2024

A hazed orange brushed gold coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is lovely tart funk. Peachy, tangerine, fresh funk, white grape, melon. tmoreau	3.9 Side Project La Ruche Shared 750 ml bottle poured to a small snifter, showing a hazed, light golden hue, with a decent layer of soft white froth to a persistent ring, bubbly film, and spots of lacing. The nose was funk, dried fruit, and slight honeycomb sweetness. A bit less than medium bodied, the taste followed similarly with decent effervescence, lemony tartness & tanginess, mild oak, slight earthy & herbal bitterness, and compatible dryness to the finish. The aroma is a blast of herbal hops, dank and weedy, with resin, pine, and citrus. Flavor of orange and grapefruit citrus, melon, pine, florals, herbs, resin, sweet and bready malts, and honey.
