4 Belgian Blue Original Belgian Wheat Ale It pours cloudy yellow, billowing head. Has that funky Belgian yeast aroma. It’s very citrusy, doesn’t need the orange, tastes like a session Duvel. Friday, March 6, 2015

2.6 Belgian Blue Belgian Noble Pale Ale 330ml bottle into glass. Sour pepper hop nose. Golden beer with big fluffy white head. A few tiny bubbles. Flat slick mouthfeel with light creamy hop/malt finish. Kinda pale ale lite. S’alright. Saturday, February 28, 2015

2.7 Belgian Blue Belgian Royal Brewed in Belgium by an Aussie company. From a 330ml bottle, it pours bright straw yellow with an average sized white head. Nose has sweet malt grains with a touch of grassy hops. Flavour is malty with a mild dry hop finish. Clean palate but overall unremarkable. Friday, December 5, 2014

3.7 Belgian Blue Original Belgian Wheat Ale From a 330ml bottle on 1/12/2014. Pours a cloudy straw colour with a big white head which subsides a bit after a while. Has a light spicy aroma with hints of wheat and clove. Take a sip and it’s rather pleasing with sweet and tart citrus fruit, some distinct Belgian yeast and spicy notes and a hint of banana lolly. Has a slightly creamy palate with lively carbonation. Have seen this at Dan Murphy’s for a while now and thought it was time to sample. I’ve not found many brewers who make a good fist of a Belgian white but these guys have actually done a really good job. A pleasant surprise and will definitely try again if I’m looking for a bit of a break from Hoegaarden. Monday, December 1, 2014

2.4 Belgian Blue Belgian Noble Pale Ale Bottle. Hazy gold with a white head. Fairly dull aroma of honeyed grain, some apricot, orange, very mild spices. And so it tastes - sweet and rather bland with some fruit and honey and a hint of spice at the moderately bitter finish. Not offensive, just dull. Friday, July 4, 2014

3.1 Belgian Blue Original Belgian Wheat Ale Bottle. Hazy orange with a large white head. Mild wheat, orange and pepper aroma. Very light-bodied. Quite dry with modest citrus notes and a pepper and clove finish. Refreshing. Not bad at all for a mystery brew. Thursday, February 27, 2014

2.9 Belgian Blue Original Belgian Wheat Ale From 330 ml bottle. Pours a light straw yellow with a thick and persisting white head. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of lemon, wheat, pepper and maybe a hint of clove. Taste is dominated by citrus (not all that lemony though) although some pepper comes through at the back end. Couldn’t detect any banana or bubblegum hefe characters at all. Crisp finish with a lightly spicy aftertaste. Not bad, but not a classic wheat beer. Tuesday, November 5, 2013

3.2 Belgian Blue Original Belgian Wheat Ale poured a cloudy pale yellow colour with a two- to three-finger white foamy head that retained well and laced with lots of suds rings - looked like a wheat beer should. Very high carbonation with lots of small bubbles forming trails. Aroma of wheaten malt and as it warmed it became more spicy with aroma of cloves coming out. Taste very sweet then with cloves but no real bitterness. Light body. Smooth and light with a spicy finish. Refreshing. Saturday, November 2, 2013

3.2 Belgian Blue Original Belgian Wheat Ale Another mystery brew to don the shelves of Dan Murphy’s. Produces up a misty, pinewood yellow with a lot of floaties caught in suspension. High effervescence sees rise to a solind, lasting inch of foam atop that manages a convincing lace. Aroma of Lime Coola cordial, candied lemon peel, sherbet and wheat malt with a tangy tinge of cider vinegar. Quite sharp on the palate with an acrid herbal bitterness that is quite out of place but not entirely unpleasant. Lengthy citrus linger, tangy and sour with a balancing candyish sweetness. Wheaty, grainy mid-palate. Light in body but overall creamy in mouthfeel to give it roundness. Not demanding in any way. Quite a refreshing drop. Not bad. 3.1 Belgian Blue Original Belgian Wheat Ale Bottle - hazy pale yellow with a big fluffy white head. Initial aroma reminds me of the mash during the boil. There is also a more subtle cereal malt and a little citrus. As the beer warmed more of the clove/spice character came out. Some spice on the taste, not much bitterness, dry in the mouth but not tart. Medium palate reasonable carbonation. Friday, September 27, 2013
