felsenpils	2.5 Folklore Southern Sky Pils 12 ounce can. Pours a very light yellow with a bit of haze and lively carbonation. The foam has great retention and leaves lacing on the glass. The aroma is clean, but neutral with no hop bouquet. The flavor is quite light with low hop bitterness. Pretty good beer, but I would not agree that it is "a German style Pils lager". Perhaps a Helles lager, but not close to a Pilsener. Finally, after finishing the beer, the foam remains stable with a bunch of it at the bottom of the glass which indicates the presence of a foam enhancer. Friday, March 22, 2024

BelgianBeerGal	3 Folklore Grateful Red Can picked up from the brewery driving back from cheer in Dothan. Pours a nice copper color with a medium khaki head. Aroma is malt with some molasses sweetness and yeast. Flavor is malt forward with an odd streak of fruitiness. Okay but seems a touch off. Not sure if that flavor profile was planned. Ehh. Grumbo	3.7 Folklore Shadowcaster Porter 28/8/2022. Can at the Wroclaw GP beer share. From SHIG, cheers. Pours very dark brown with a small frothy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, light liquorice and nut. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, quite smooth and creamy, average carbonation. Enjoyable. Aurelius	2.4 Folklore Midlight Crisis 12oz can. Watery-pale faintly blonde. Short white head. Popcorn, wheaty aroma. A bit tangy, no bittering, cereal overtones. Not much to see here, move on. Aurelius	3.3 Folklore Snipe-Hunt IPA Standard 12oz can with a stick-on orange label. Clear(ish) orange-bronze pour with a tall, stiff ivory head. Caramel, piney, citrus nose with some toffee tones. Aurelius	3 Folklore Front Porch Ale 12oz can with a stick on label. Tannish/gold, clear pour with a tall sandy head. malty aroma, pineapple esters, sprucy notes. A little astringent and tinny up front, unripe fruit lightly sweet, spruce/fresh cedar. Slightly ragged finish. This is serviceable, but there's an astringency throughout that makes it a little uneven. Can, from the brewery. Monday, August 29, 2022
Aurelius	3.6 Folklore Cotton Tale Ale Generic carnation label on a white 12oz can. Foggy, muddled straw blonde pour with a tall white head. Appealing trippelesque/witty Belgian aroma - lots of fruit and yeast with a little spiciness and a couple of funky. Tangy, yeasty, biotic. Moderately spicy, quaffable. Lean, dry taste, big dry chocolate taste, grainy, ending a bit abruptly bitter, lightly caramelly and soapy. Huh, has potential, imperfect and yet an excellent porter, imagine that. Idiosynkrasie	3.7 Folklore Shadowcaster Porter 355ml can [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham!]. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Sweet-ish, roasty and chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of coffee, whiffs of cinnamon, toasted nuts. Taste is sweet-ish and slightly bitter, roasty and chocolately, dark malty, hint sof coffee, a touch of cinnamon, slightly bitter hoppy counterpart with minimally metallic overtones. Neither really viscous nor really creamy, nevertheless far from watery texture, smooth, but somehow slightly repellent, metallic palate, fine, prickly carbonation. Aroma is earthy coffee, meaty roast, woody coffee beans.. Flavour is composed of meat roast, mineral, ashy coffee bean, little cream. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, rounded, moderate carbonation. Sweet and malty, with a smooth, strong bitterness. Light to medium body, with a syrupy, slick palate. This is a simple and solid IPA. Monday, January 13, 2020
eRock_2013	3.8 Folklore Shadowcaster Porter From a can shared by a friend - thanks again Destin! - this poured an intense brown-black color with a a solid three fingers of khaki head that lingered on through the whole glass. Looked like a true hearty porter and visually set the expectations high. The aroma on the other hand was honestly a bit of a disappointment, my nose only picked up faint notes of dry chocolate and coffee, just par for the metaphorical course for the style. The taste made up for the weakness of the aroma, as I picked up on a very unique flavor profile of dry cold brew coffee, chocolately espresso, and a slight earthy and grassy hoppiness that really made this beer distinctive. Smooth and dry on the palate, medium bodied, finished with a clean note of dark chocolate bitterness. Overall I really enjoyed the complex flavor from this beer, unfortunately this particular can at least just didn’t seem to have much on the aromatic front. Thursday, October 31, 2019
