Handmade Wandering Cleric
Bottle from Gravity Station, Cardiff. Poured a hazy mid brown with almost no head. Aroma of malt, bread, yeast and grape. Medium to heavy sweetness, light bitterness, touch of sour. Medium body, texture is light with a sticky edge. Mouthfeel has some fizziness despite its still appearance. An unusual brew. Kind of a cross between an abbey ale and shloer.

Handmade Wandering Cleric
Cask at Reading BF. Amber. Very sweet with a lot of banana. They were aiming for an Abbey style and seem to have captured the essence of imitation Belgian beers- very sweet with a lot of banana. No subtlety, no depth, and a bit sticky. Oddly got more likeable as I drank more, but nevertheless I’m pretty certain that I wouldn’t want it again.

Handmade Beer American IPA
Bottle at home from the gravity station.
Hazy pale amber with fluffy white head and minerally herbal aroma. Decent level of bitterness with some pithy hops and enough body to balance but could do with some aroma hops to cover the water treatment.

Handmade Special Bitter
I really like this one. For a bitter this offers just a tad more. Good aroma, with a hint of roast. Pours amber from bottle (careful with the very loose sediment). The taste has a good bit of classic bitter caramel, but a lot more roast, coffee and trickle than the norm. Very clean finish with few esters and a contribution of floral and fruity hops. I’d drink a lot more bitters if they were more like this one.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Note for admins. This appears to be a different beer from the ’Special Bitter’ on Handmade’s website. Clear dark amber beer, little pale tan head. Light dry palate. Light unsweet toffee. Little dried fruits. Light semi dry finish. Standard stuff, done well.
