From Oct 2005 Poured from bottle: small head that dissipated quickly leaving just a fine lacing around the glass. Smell is all malt...very sweet in fact. Taste is also all malt for me with only a slight hint of hops in the finish. All in all, I find that the lack of hops in this one works and the thirst quencher factor is right up there. I recommend it.

From the supermarket in Velky Meder. Very dark, almost black color, with tan long-lasting fluffy head. Some lacing, sweet nose. Aroma is caramel and sweet. Flavour is roasted coffee with some bitterness. VERY watery which is not compensated by the bitter palate. Could be a good one with more body.

Bottle, bought and drank in Kosice, before it was retired. Golden color with a big, fluffy head. Rich malty aroma, with cereal grains. Malty, sweet, flavor, similar to a heller bock. A bit too sweet and one-dimensional, though.

17 oz bottle from Barvarianpurity, thanks Andre! Nice dark beer pour. Smell is a little mustry and leather but certainly palatable. Choco malt olfactory in the back ground. Thin if any head but the second pour yields a rock half inch head. Color of head is dirty tan. Toffee and laid back with hardley any and barely roastiness. Mild alky thru-out. Dull back of throat effects. Some decent carbonation in there. A fun and mild choco beer with a tad of mulling personality.

A so-so beer, described on the can as "Premium Beer", "Helles Lager", and "Svetly Leziak". I think the last two translate to "light lager" which make this one a swill and that’s all it really is. Nothing premium about it, except maybe the labelling on the can.

Fine hoppy flavour, you can get the malt and barley there too, clean smell; light gold, amber in colour; solid, full-on taste to it, you get the hops and roastings in there, rounded fizz, heavier on the bitter side but not too much so; distinct bitter after taste.

Bottle brown, 500 ml, 10 P
Appearance: Pours dark brown, caramelic, deep reddish, vary dark ruby, rather no transparent, head is small, off - white, cappuccino like in colour, beige, almost fully diminihing, head has no lacing, body is not transparent, thick, dark, gently sparkling but it is hard to notice the sparkling through the texture of the beer, colour of body is quite intensive as for dunkel, reminding a kind of good quality Baltic Porter, head is mostly diminishing, size of body is large, density is average, very nice apart from the head that is weak.
Aroma: Coffee, sugar, roasted malts and grains, toffee, cream, smooth and gentle aroma, burned sugar is also present, butterscotch, no smoke in aroma, vanilla, milk.
Flavour: Burned sugar, roastyness, toastyness a bit, toffee, smoke but not strong, slight bitterness, wall nuts, malted barley, additional sugar, well balanced, not too distinctive but rounded, carbonation on palate is average, lihgt alcoholic, vanilla, brown sugar.
Palate: Body is light to medium, texture is dry, carbonation on palate is medium, finish feel is chalky, roasty, dry, light alcoholic.

Nose :Mineral hopps , brown malt , refreshing light nose . Light fruity (plum) hints..
Flavor/Palate : Front – crust of rye bread , good malt profile. Flavorful yet still refreshing and drinkable. Softer finish , well made. I am not sure if I would call this Schwarzbier, more of a dunkel to me.

Pours a very dark ruby with a tan head. Nose is bland and almost non-existent. Flavor is mildly sweet with almost a porter like back end quality (but still not much to speak of). A fair amount of sweetness, but not much else to mention. Feel is slightly on the thicker side, but still borders on nearly thin. Drinkable, sure. It is a decent brew, but not anything overly unique. With anything that comes from so far, I think if you can get it fresh, of course it will be better and worth trying. But if it has been sitting around for a long time, or is traveling an even longer distance that NY (where I got mine), then I can see how it would alter your tasting of it and it might end up being one you wished you had avoided.

500 ml bottle provided by another co-worker who wishes to remain nameless. Gentle caramel nose wafts from bottle. Pours a dark brown/light ruby. Lightly sweet on the tounge. Little if any hops noticable, but then again, I have been splitting wood all day and everthing has an oaky tinge to it now. Body a bit chalky at finish. A nice brew from Slovakia that I had not had. George..... bring me more.

this was one of the best brews I tasted on my recent holiday in Slovakia ... it is a full bodied lager in the classic Czech style .... a very even blend of hops and malt ... this is a beer which can be used as an appetizer as well as accompany some pork or white meat .... the downside is, it’s not easily availabe, even in Slovakia ....

Deep gold with medium white head. Very neutral nose, bit sweet-ish, honey, and some sawdust. Quite good combination of dry grain taste, sweetish honey flavour, finishing in dry hop-tinted grassy notes. Very dynamic flavourprofile. Every new sip yields again honey. Light to medium bodied. A bit sticky in the finish. Surprisingly good for a bread-and-butter lager.

A light grassy hop aroma, like part of a top Czech pilsener. Brassy gold color with a white head that goes away. Starts rather sweet, and then the hops knock that away. It’s ok. Maybe better than ok.

Bottle... Clear, light yellow lager with a small, creamy, white head (hard pour). Funky, weird herbal nose. Medicinal with light notes of licorice. The flavor is well-balanced, but strange as well. Herbal and medicinal. Bitter in a "dish soap" way. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Crisp finish. Reminds me of sorghum beer with a note of very light molasses. Thanks to growler for the bottle!

The bottle I had was labeled "Topvar - Premium Pils" I wasn’t sure if was the same beer, but I didn’t wanna add a beer if it was a mistake. Pours clear a thin golden with thin white head. Suprisingly sweet fruity aroma of caramel apples. Sweet flavor as well, malty and fuller upfront. Sweet honey-nut flavor. Has a slightly tart touch of apples. Long light bitter finish with a touch of almond. Different, but not really balanced. One dimensional.
