3.6 Stewart Brewing Top of the Hops Very nice. As Pdubya said below, there’s a big, fat middle sweetness to this beer, but the good news is that it is tempered very nicely with white pepper. Soft and unctuous rather than firm and zingy. Hits all the right notes and hides its 6.2% well. Friday, May 22, 2015

3.4 Stewart Brewing The Grain Reaper Not your usual - but an interesting beer nonetheless. Lighter than the dark colour would indicate - but there is a definite ’twist’ that adds heft in the end. Wednesday, December 17, 2014

3.1 Stewart Brewing The Grain Reaper Bitter cocoa grain. Coffee wet powder aroma. Slight sulphur hidden by the powerful malt/hop character. Taste is too astringent and bitterness is drying the mouth Wednesday, December 17, 2014

2.9 Stewart Brewing Top of the Hops I was/am a bit worried about this beer, as there was a definite marmite aroma as soon as I opened the bottle. Had it been left on its lees a bit too long? Nevertheless, it is typically pilsner coloured with a coarse white head and plentiful carbonation. The flavours and aromas speak of authentic German maltiness, which is rather good, but not backed up nearly enough with herbal hoppiness., which is a pity. Wednesday, December 3, 2014

3.4 Stewart Brewing Top of the Hops I wanted more of that pilsner style hop roughness. This is a very hoppy beer, and there is a lot of middle sweetness, Very pale pour, nice head, great lacing. Quaffed like a veteran quaffer this is a very polite and drinkable beer that would suite many palates. Thursday, September 11, 2014
