A relatively dry beer with a cereal body, and low fruit hints, there is some bitterness and slightly old paper notes, I suspect to have oatmeal or other cereals in them, with honey hints but also some sourness specially at the finish. scotty	3.7 Celtika Ambrée A small (330ml?) bottle with a crown cap, part of gift pack I got for Xmas from my brother. This one has an ABV of 6.5%. Slightly hazy, deep copper, with a thin mottled head which lasts fairly well. Nice toffee’d, malty nose. Good body, has a sweet edge which lingers on the finish. The 6.5% is quite noticable but doesn’t make it less drinkable. Nice strong ale, one to savour. Wednesday, February 18, 2009

ROGUE	2.8 Celtika Ambrée 750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy amber color with a two finger head. Smell of toffee, with spiced light fruit, cinnamon and honey. ROGUE	3 Celtika Blanche 750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with an amber tint and modest head. The aroma is spicy coriander tones and rather bready, with a distinct orange zest too. More oxydized malts in the taste, maltsyrup, if not very sweet, lightstruck. Either too old, either lightstruck into oblivion. Quite slick. Poured a pale yellow with no definitive head. Some carbonation evident and had a slight citric aroma with a little bitterness. Overall I was very disappointed with this beer. DarkElf	3.6 Celtika Celtic Golden Ale 22-Mar-07 (750 ml corked and caged bottle: Obtained 06-May-06 in trade with Otter, thanks Jeremy!) The cork on this bottle was so tight, it required pliers to remove, but fortunately, the cork is still moist, not all dried out. With the cork removed and the loud pop disturbing my upstairs neighbors, I was relieved the beer didn’t foam out of the bottle. A careful pour of this cloudy, golden beer still created two inches of fluffy, white foam in Duvel glass. A quick sniff and the beer smells musty and somewhat sour, but wait, it’s a fruity sourness and smells pleasant, with elements of orange stone fruit, lemon, unripe grapes and pomegranate. Tart fruits dominate the flavor, and whether it’s intentional or not, I don’t know, but this is actually quite enjoyable. It’s moderately tart at first, but not what I’d call sour, and the tartness mellows considerably after about two seconds. Once the tart fruit attack moderates a bit on the palate, the beer finishes with a very light, bready maltiness. Medium-bodied, clean from the tartness, very carbonated at first, but that obviously settles down after some time. Not at all what I expected, but enjoyable and quite interesting.
