B&T Little Sheff 3.2
Cask, gravity dispense at The Railway, Putney. As ’B&T Little Sheff’. Dark golden yellow, clear, still, small off-white head doesn’t endure. Aroma is restrained with some toffee apple, sticky sweet. Body is smooth, low carbonation. Taste is pretty phenolic, burnt notes, woody, watery sugars, ash in water, not much bitterness. A weird watery smoke vibe. I actually don’t mind this due to my messed up palate, but it’s clearly not as intended from their deScription.

B&T Crooked Hooker 2.7

B&T Crooked Hooker 2.8
Cask at The Railway, Putney. As ’Banks and Taylor’s Crooked Hooker’. Consumed to honour Dylan Hartley’s selection as England captain. No hooker is more crooked than he. Clear dark amber, still, small bubbly white head, light lacing. Aroma is bready, mixed spice, a touch of smokey phenolic stuff. Body is rounded, tingly carbonation. Taste is spicy, medicinal, burnt straw, phenolic character continues. Not overly drinkable - definitely wouldn’t be drinking pints of this. An OK burnt tasting bitter.

Gravity, Elbow Room, Hinckley. Really good bitter. Tawny gold with a fractured white halo. B&T Shefford Plum Porter 3.1
Cask. Pours very dark with bubbly tan head. Aroma of stewed plums/prunes. Taste is fruity and biscuity with hops pushed aside. Quite a watery mouth feel. It suffers by comparison with Titanic which I tasted and rated highly recently so I’m conscious that the bar has been set high. I would certainly have the other half.

B&T Shefford Plum Mild 3.9
Pint, cask, The Albion, Ampthill. Stewed fruit aromas. Very dark brown beer, with beige 1-finger foam, fine, but persistent. Looks appetizing. Gentle buzz of carbonation. Fruitiness comes through in the flavour supported by some malt character: a little chocolate, very feint touch of dark malt bitterness and roast flavours. Delicate acidity and gentle but persistent bitterness. Favourite beer of the session.

Sadly the best feature was the aroma - nutty with hints of apple. Appearance mahogany with thin head. Taste balanced initially but aftertaste leaves sour malt on the tongue. I won’t seek it out.
