Bonsai Due North IRA
On tap at the brewery. Pours clear amber with medium size off-white head, good lacing. Malts, butterscotch, resiny. The only beer I had a pint of, and it's not near as good as other beers in the flight. This would have been good except for the diacetyl, I can't finish the pint.

Bonsai Project Thangcicle
Sampled at the brewpub in Whitefish, Montana. Most of the time when brewers try something like it bombs. The one rocks. In my tasting glass gold with a white head. Nose is habanero, tropical fruit, and vanilla just as advertised. Body is medium and there is a lively spicy mouthfeel. The Flavor is remarkably well balanced with the three main ingredients in perfect harmony Finishes with a light hot pepper but not obtrusive. The brewers really nailed this one.

Bonsai Show & Prove IPA
Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a pure gold body that supports a thin white head of foam that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up inviting candied tangelo, floral notes and some mild grain malts. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of hop flavor and modest hop bitterness. The classic hop flavors are here: citrus, spiciness, floral and grassiness. Solid.

Bonsai Smash Burn Barleywine - Xythos
22oz bomber pours with a slightly hazy copper body that has thin gold hues and supports a thin white head of foam. The aroma offers up floral hops, candied peach and plum and then thin vanilla oak notes and bourbon. The taste delivers smooth candied peach and plum moving quickly into a flash of candied citrus and then smooth full bourbon booze notes. Just below the bourbon a sweet oak vanilla sensation bubbles away under the weight of the booze. In general this is a tad barrel forward and I'm enjoying the ester and hop notes that are getting through. Nice stuff.

Bonsai Grandma's Cookie
22oz bomber pours with a slightly hazy copper body that supports a thin off white head of foam. The aroma offers up oak, vanilla, bourbon and then light notes of prunes, raisins and cinnamon like spices. The taste delivers smooth prune and raisin fruitiness heading into smooth bourbon, vanilla, malt sweetened oak and booze. Smooth sipper albeit a little too barrel forward.

Bonsai Cranky Sheriff
Howler, shared at game night by heavylaevy. Dark brown with ruby highlights, very low head. Prominent vinous character, red fruits, brown bread, cocoa, light acetic sourness with a dry woody finish. Light to medium bodied. This sucked a lot of wine out of the wood, but it was pretty tasty.

Bonsai Single Poppa
This is the Zeus hopped version. Draught pour to a shaker. LArge fluffy head that stays around. Huge spicy, resiny, cat pee, Grapefruit, Orange, Satsuma, minty, sweet malts aromas, could sniff this all day long. The spicy, citric, orange hops really shine through in the flavours, although it’s a high IBU, everything is balanced out thanks to sweetness from the malts. Medium bodied, chewy, sticky texture, with good soft carbonation. A fine bitter, lingering drying finish. The 9.2 alc is well hidden/balanced!!!

Very West Coast in style. Resiny, piney hop aromas, roasted matls, dark chocolate, hint of anise, cold bitter coffee aromas. Flavours follow all the aromas, with a nice resiny hop bite, good roasted malt, with a pleasant roast coffee, dark chocolate bitterness leading to a dry, roasty, lingering finish.
