The aroma is sweet toffee and boozy alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth sweet toffee, herbal, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavors include a bit of light fruit (maybe apple), some tiny touches of citrus, minimally apparent hops. There is a weird phenolic note in mid palate, certainly an off flavor, which fades quickly. Not completely terrible, but mostly so. Earlier Rating: 4/14/2014 Total Score: 1.9 Bottle from Yamaya. Mix of stinky hop (skunked?) and light formaldehyde. Clear medium straw. Thin buttery initial, some caramel, extract-like notes, and tiny hopping. Thin body, Pretty bad. First beer I’ve had from Indonesia -- no, wait... the second. After.dawn	2.6 Bali Hai Premium 내수용은 Bali Hai Premium란 이름으로 소비가 되지만 수출용은 재미있게도 Balihai Romantic Night Lager란 이름을 가지고 있습니다. 이름 때문에 사왔습니다. 낭만적인 밤 맥주라... 얼마나 아름답습니까. 원래 이런 건진 모르겠으나 레몬에이드 마냥 깊이 없는 황금색 외관을 가지며, 적당한 두께로 생성된 거품은 은근히 유지가 되는가 싶더니 맛을 즐기고 있을 쯤이면 나도 모르게 사라져있네요. 코로 느껴지는건 건초향이 처음으로 느껴지다 자세히 맡으니 꽃향이 나며 혀에 닿는 맛은 알싸하고 시원한 스파이시 노트에 전체적으론 메론의 풍미가 살짝 올려집니다. 삼킬땐 쓴맛과 몰트의 단맛이 함께 느껴지며 그 균형감이 나쁘지 않구요. 라벨을 확인해보니 아로마를 위한 홉은 스파이시하고 플로럴 허브 노트가 있는 스팔터셀렉트 홉이 사용되었고, 쓴맛을 위해선 메론, 후추, 소나무 향을 내는 헤라클레스 홉이 사용되었네요. 입에 톡 쏘는 맛 없이 부드러우며, 라거임에도 탄산감은 입전체에 머금을때서야 느낄 수 있는 정도입니다. 물론 전체적인 느낌은 전형적인 대량 생산 라거이긴하지만 한국산 대기업 싸구려 맛은 아닙니다. 라거 스타일이 본디 좋은 점수를 얻기 힘들지만 꽤나 뮌헨 라거를 떠올릴 수 있는 괜찮은 맥주랄까. 레이트비어 기준 총점 8점에 스타일점수 83점인데 이는 사실 꽤나 높은 편이지요. 독일 1등 라거인 벡스가 6/38이며, 네덜란드의 하이네켄이 3/20, 덴마크의 칼스버그가 5/8인걸 감안하면 말입니다. 어쨋든 평소 에일을 좋아한다면 이런 밍밍한 맥주가 있나싶겠지만 라거를 좋아한다면 흥미로운 선택이 될 수 있겠습니다. 물론 나는 전자쪽에 가깝긴 하지만.. YantarCoast	1.5 Bali Hai Knox 19% 500ml can from In Pivo Veritas in Moscow. 19% abv according to the can, 13.5% according to the importer. Brewed under license of Casa Del Sol USA, which I can find zero information about. Pours clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is alcohol (vodka-esque) and malt. Taste is light sweet, heavy alcohol. Mild bitter finish. Unlike a lot of the hi-alco beers this one makes almost no effort to mask the booziness with sweetness. Pretty awful. Reminds me of Yorsh – the Russian “cocktail” of cheap lager and a shot of vodka. Sunday, October 25, 2020

corkyrory66	1.8 Panther Black Beer Black panther de 4,9 % abv, dont la grande question sera de savoir si c'est la panthère qui est noire ou la bière qui est noire … Le black étant judicieusement placé entre panther et beer, on peut douter. Je reconnais bien là un coup fourré de ce fauve extrêmement gracile … mais non moins, et d'ailleurs tout autant, gracieux … La tâche va donc être particulièrement ardue, sans compter le danger inhérent au fait de se trouver sur le territoire de la panthère noire ! Soyons donc prudent et examinons cette belle étiquette et aussi, non moins, sa contre-étiquette … La première nous dit " rich and smooth " .. ce n'est pas trop méchant. Par contre, la deuxième nous informe gentiment sur l'animal. Malts pils, munich, choco et château arôme (que voilà une belle patte ..) Houblonnage en hercules allemand, dont on nous dit qu'il est " high alpha ". Par ailleurs, nous apprenons qu'il y a une garde de 28 jours, c'est vraiment très honnête, et nous félicitons la panthère pour cette patience d'ange ... Mon exemplaire était à 5 mois avant sa date. Couleur marron aux reflets violacé argenté, lors d'une nuit violette. Mousse brun moyen, soyeuse, stable à 3 mm. Arômes de chocolat suisse de bon niveau, noisettes grillées, belle ganache. 1ère bouche légère, beaucoup moins fine que le nez. Arrière-bouche qui arrive à trouver un café torréfié valable en toute fin. 2ème bouche aux effluves de café passé trop longtemps. Arrière-bouche moins intéressante que la 1ère. Longueur qui se perd un peu en conjectures, hésite entre café, chocolat et cacao, sans situer la limite et trouver l'équilibre. Jambes lisses, assez fuyantes .. (logique, vu l'animal) Levure basique. Alcool qui doit avoisiner les 3 %, en étant généreux. Finale qui me dit que la panthère va s'enfuir .. CONCLUSION : cette panthère noire se résume donc en fait à un très beau nez, ce dont nous n'aurions jamais osé douter .. Pour le reste le fauve sent un peu léger .. ou, sans l'offusquer .. le chacal.
