Brewers Art Birdhouse Ale
Can. Light-looking pour, crystal clear and medium amber. The head is also on the thinner side. The aroma is quite nice, if a bit caged, with a decent floral aspect. The beer drinks with a lighter body, too, but is well flavored and evenly balanced. (#6334, 9/19/2016)

Wow. I asked the server for this beer and she said it was an Amber Ale. Much to my surprise, this was an outstanding Belgian.

Can from JP’s Wine &Spirits. Clear ruby/amber with thick giant head that subsides. Musty, dusty aroma Not getting too many dubbel notes, minor brown sugar, yeast accents here and there, but kind of bland overall.

Very nice brown/red appearance with solid head. Peppery spice typical non-funky Saison aroma. Taste is like a relatively mild Saison with a bit of malt and Belgian yeast. It’s good.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a light copper glow and a very thin, single centimetre tall off-white soapy head. Aroma of grass, light malt, earth, wheat and some more rather pungent malt. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and light flavours at first with some coriander seed, light curacao, bunches of wheat and some complexity from yeast, but rather mild. Aftertaste shows a lot of dry characteristics with some light hops showing through, but also some dry floral elements and a bit of grass, all finishing with a nice coriander seed freshness and even a hint of super light clove. Overall, a decent saison that is definitely on the lighter side, but not a bad beer at all. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, Eye Street NW), DC on 23-June-2015 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington almost a year later on 31-May-2016.

Tap at the brewery alehouse with commonshawn, rosskyle, and samadouche. Chalice style glass. Slight haze in a golden orange colored ale. Minor white head with lacing. Aroma is slightly floral with spices like coriander and rosemary. Taste is mild and refreshing. There is some bitterness with floral components. Easy to drink without being aggressive. Herbal notes present. Overall it’s an unassuming spring/summer style beer. Does a good job of tip toeing through the tulips and into a better than average ale.

Bottle from Shawan’s Liquors. Pours amber with a thin brown head. Has a bit of the Belgian yeast thing on the nose. A little sweet on the tongue and it’s missing a lot of the Saison’s funky barnyard elements. Finishes clean. Eh!

Can. Pours a slightly hazy yellow body with a two finger frothy white head. The nose is slightly sweet with some honey, bready malt, lightly fruity, a bit of yeastiness. The flavor at its base is pretty nice, a rather classic saison at first, but then finishes with a honey and floral like sweetness. Not sure I dig the sweetness in this one, it doesn’t seem to fit with the style for me. Light bodied and easy drinking with soft fizzy carbonation. Meh, there are good and bad points to this one, but it is quite drinkable.
