Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a mild pumpkin spice with a nice brown malt. Flavor is another dose of mild pie spices and some chewy malt to round things out. Here is a pumpkin beer that actually needs more spice. Itís kind thin.

Augusta 1856 IPA
64 oz growler. Pours a hazy amber with a nice foamy white head. Smell is initially peachy then some green pepper, some dank grassy herbal earth notes. The pepper sucks, but the rest is nice. Flavor is sweet up ront. Lots of bubblegum flavor, sweet herbs, very mild bitterness, caramel nougat malt but not too much.

Augusta Farmhouse Saison
750 c&c from Bu11zeye. Pours hazy orange amber with a slight head. Aroma is fruity, but with a dark malt suggesting contact with wood. Med body. Very light carbonation. Flavor is arguably a bit oxidized, which may be where the wood suggestion comes from. Itís very lightly spicy, has some fruit esters, but overall its very dark. Itís not quite dry in the finish, a bit fruity, and still seems to have a woody component. Itís actually reminding me of some of the Fullerís Vintage Old Ales. For which, among other reasons, Iím rather liking it. "rerate": After looking at other ratings, Iím thinking my 750 is rather like that of Zymurgeist2.

Growler... RBSG 2014... Cloudy mahogany pour with a miniscule, creamy, off-white head. The bouquet offers malty caramel and dark fruits with nice bourbon and toasted oak components. Full-bodied, Łber-velvety and even fatty with pillow soft carbonation. The flavor is boozy and quite bitter, yet malty at the same time. Finishes with caramel, hot bourbon and scorching hop bitterness.

Tasted at RBSG grand tasting. 750ml bottle. From Washington, MO. Apparently this is yet to be released. Hazy orange color. Thin off-white head, loose bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft crisp lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Great oaky lemony woody tart flavor, light yeast influence. Satisfying moderate sour taste, light sweet. Awesome balanced smooth complex wild ale.

Pour from a growler at the RBSG brunch. Pours a cloudy amber-brown with almost no head, but a hint of an off-white ring. Notes of caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, dark and dried fruits (dates, figs), oak, and some earthy hops. Medium-full bodied, with modest carbonation and a rich, warming mouthfeel. Good barrel-aged barley wine. Iíd like more time to sit with this one.

Augusta Wine Barrel Wild Ale
750 ml bottle shared by the brewer at the RBSG grand tasting. Thanks again, Sean! Glad to finally try the fruits of your wild experiment. This one pours a hazy pale gold with virtually no head. Vinous and funky from the start, with citrus fruits, musty basement, oak, yogurt, cheesecloth, tropical fruits, dough, earth, hay, and some acidity throughout. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a dry, funky mouthfeel. Really interesting. I could go on longer about this, and wish I had another bottle to try again. Great stuff.

Augusta Wine Barrel Wild Ale
Sampled at the RBSG14 Grand Tasting - Pours golden orange with a white head. The aroma has clean oakiness, funk, vanilla, bugs and a chardonnay style of buttery flavor. It has a medium body that starts out smooth and has some light semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor begins with oak, vanilla, some sharpness, tart slant, chardonnay and clean sourness. The finish stays clean and has light lemon and enough malt to balance it out. I think this is the first sour attempt from Augusta and a pretty good one at that.

Augusta Wine Barrel Wild Ale
Offering shared at RateBeer Grand Tasting 2014 (St. Louis, MO). Pours a hazy golden hue, a touch of honey glow with frothy whitish head atop, mellow ring laces small. Aromas are a bit of lemon, citrus and touches of green apple. Touches of cobwebs, pineapple juice and mellow oak. Initial is lighter end of the fold, some citrus bite, smoothed out apple, pineapple fruit with a bit of acidity. Gentle funk, cobwebs, and tartness. Some gentle tropical elements, pear and funk. Backend is dry, a bit yeasty with gentle lactic element and straw. Some funk, fruit and sourness trail out. Gentle tannic element, oak hit a bit. Not bad, pretty interesting stuff with good balance, reeled in sourness and pretty nice balance between some nice tannic barrel, funk elements and creeping sourness. Tasty. Fun experiment from all the beers he used in the blend.

Augusta Barrel Aged Barley Wine
This is brown with ring of head. It has a boozy nose w/ some caramel and lots of coconut booziness from the barrel aging. It is very sweet, very sticky and very caramelly. It is surprisingly not that hot but kind of a mess of sticky sweet malts and barrel character. This just doesnít seem to have any unifying purpose beyond being a BA barleywine.

Augusta Barrel Aged Barley Wine
Pour at the RBsG 2014 Schlafly Brunch (Maplewood, MO). Pours a deeper brownish copper hue, touches of auburn glow on the edges with frothy tannish head atop. A decent ring laces ok, mellow film with some deeper orange copper glow through the middle. Aromas show a potent kick of bourbon, decent spirit meets vanillin, some orange marmalade, caramel and toffee. Shaved and toasted coconut, some earthiness kick in. Rich and quite pleasant. Initial is medium bodied, a firmer kick of whiskey and warmth meets firmer oak and tannic qualities. A bit carmelized, faint fruit cake, caramel and bread. Some dryness, tannic and a bit warm into the middle and backend, this might be just a touch overbarreled but the flavors still deliver some nice dried fruit, carmelized and biscuity sweetness. A faint waft of earth, mellow orange rind fruit cake. Finish is dry, a bit warm and nice tannic elements. Nice stuff. A bit warm but overall the strength of the base, good flavors show some good life instead of a drab, sweet malty mess.

Tasted at St. Louis Brewerís Guild Heritage Fest 2014 in a cool nonic sampler glass. It poured a mostly clear orange amber colour with weak white foam. LOADS of citrusy, flowery, earthy English hops: strong bitterness, flavour AND aroma. Nice biscuity malts underneath, with just a hint of residual caramel sweetness. True-to-style and very tasty. Very nicely done.
