Three Floyds Wigsplitter
Big thanks for this one, Matt! Sweet, lactic chocolate with just a hint of coffee on the nose. Slightly dilute for a big beer. Lots of flavor, definitely on the sweet side. Coffee is subdued. Good. Would be great with some oak.

Bottle in Seattle. Thanks again to Pruf. Nice thick tan foam, dense cold brew aroma. Sticky thick body, sweet creamy chocolate with thick espresso underneath. Some lactic note on the nose, but doesnít follow. Rich body, a bit more carb than I had expected. Solid coffee beer, quite sweet creamy underneath.

Three Floyds Gumballhead
Bottle with a not able to read, bottled date..pours a darker than usual coppery color than expected for a wheat beer, not a big fan of wheat beers for the most part, but this is well executed, nose is malty with bready dough evident, not getting much lemon as usual, but some dried fruit essence, perhaps dried apricots, light bodied, easy to drink, goes well with food, this is my kind of wheat beer, kudos..

Bottle. Colour...pale Amber with a thin head Nose...funky, cheesy, musky and very dank. Bongwater, from what I hear?? Palate...dry, hoppy and fairly boozy for a pale. Thereís peach nectar and nectar of apricot on the mid palate and then the finish trails off very fast.

Three Floyds Blood of the Sunsets
22 oz. bottle. Hazy amber body. Big white head. Lots of surface wisping. Smells of resiny hops and some grapefruit. Nutty malts and some caramel. Tastes of grapefruit hops. Malt flavor immediately behind it. Equal parts nutty and toasty. Just a bit of sweetness. Aggressively bitter pine finish. Medium body. This is definitely different from the current trend in hoppy beers. Itís an aggressive take on a classic hoppy red. I like it.

Acquired as a gift from a good friend. Pours an average size frothy off-white head and has a golden amber appearance. Some nice thick dirty lacing. Aromas of bready malts and earthy hops. Flavours are again with the bready malts as well as toasty malts, earthy and resin hops. Also some notes of cereal, some bitter citrusy hints as well as some caramel. Nice balance between sweetness and bitterness. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Great retention. Good stuff!

Three Floyds Knut of the Living Dead
Draft on tap at the brewery (Munster, IN). A really exciting sounding beer I had to get in to try. Pours an opaque blackish brown hue, dark and silky midnight colors show some brownish glow on the edges, a frothy brownish head atop is a solid crown, decent lacing throughout as a thicker ringer. Aromas are lots of peanut butter, bitter roasty cocoa nibs. Some coffee, roasty malts and biscuits meet a mellow kiss of vanilla, dry roasty appeal, oatmeal and caramel elements. Potent, alluring, but not overwhelming. Initial is medium bodied, a firmer dry and bitter appeal shows coffee, cocoa nibs, earthy bitterness and roast. Earthy peanuts, a but of ash. A more dry appeal, the treatment here doesnít take over the beer, instead building on top of the solid oatmeal stout base. More dry, bitter, with lingering coffee and cocoa trail out. Not the flavor bomb some may expect, but a potent nose, pretty pour, and a really nice drinking stout that remains dry, roasty, and bitter instead of a sweet sugar bomb. Nice

Three Floyds Icelandic Pants of the Dead
Draft on tap at the brewery (Munster, IN). Been looking to try this one for awhile. Pours a more hazy orange glowing hue, a frothy offwhite head atop is sizable at first, cakey layer is large but dissipates to a filmy layer fairly quickly, mellow lacing overall. Aromas show big citric and lactic appeal, a gentle funk covered over by potent citric acidity, lemon and grapefruit meet some white wine, tart green sour grapes and crabapple. Some straw, mellow bready malts, straw and yogurty appeal. The bretty appeal here really covered up. Initial is lighter bodied, fizzy and acidic off the bat. Bracing citric acidity is lemony, grapefruit and lime appeal. Sour green apples, grapes, and a biting acidic tinge coats the palate. Mellow oak, subtle bretty elements fall behind as a lingering sourness really hangs on. A bit of a one note, potent sour appeal overall. An overwhelming nose, solid pour, potent sourness throughout that never really lets a more firm bretty influence take hold. Solid, sour, and simple.
