Tap at Raven, Bath. Filtered orange-tan body. Foamy off-white head. Earthy delicate nelson tones, not juicy like a US hop bomb, more earthy and subtle. Quite nice, could be a little more hop forward.

Slater's Smoked Porter
Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with minimal cream head and good lacing. Some malts in the aroma with a smoky tinge. More smokiness in the body together with grains, roasted malts and hints of apples. Later on there are traces of coffee. Finish is very strongly smoky. This is the highest rated Slater’s beer I’ve had – but that doesn’t say much !

Slater's Blitzen
Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a dark brown with a medium sized foamy off0white head and good lacing. Malt and nuts can be found in the aroma – but not to any great extent. In the mouth, it starts of bitter and hoppy but quickly calms down to sweet and malty. Some spices do appear eventually plus hints of treacle, but the whole affair is somewhat watery. This is just a standard bitter with a few spices thrown in – but reasonable for all that.

Slater's Black IPA
Cask at Slater’s in Stafford. Pours a dark brown with small foamy cream head and good lacing. The nose is mainly roasted malts with some added liquorice. In the mouth at various times there is chocolate, liquorice and coffee with hints of tobacco, spices and dark fruits. Not all at once and not necessarily in that order. Finish is decidedly bitter and hoppy. A nice complex beer but not really a Black IPA.

Old rating from 25-09-15 - Pint from the cask at the Apple & Pear Taphouse in St Helier. Pours a golden colour with a thick white head. Aromas of citrus & malt. Taste is citrusy hoppy with a pale malty background, notes of lemon also present, some hop bitterness in the aftertaste. A very nice pint.

Slater's Maravilla
Cask conditioned at The Wyvern Tavern, Swindon, Wilts. Hazy gold with white head. This proved to be quite a thinnish, watery beer, there is a fusty hint to it along with a thin fruitiness. The fruit is quite generic sweet berry, couldn't pin it down. Just okay.

Slater's Maravilla
Cask at Slater’s, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a dense white head and good lacing. Aroma is just a vague one of summer fruits. In the mouth, there is an initial burst of tangerine, which is soon replaced by a strong raspberry flavour. There are sweet malts too plus a hint of strawberries. The finish is slightly bitter. Not bad at all, but this is a beer best appreciated at the height of summer, rathehr than a cold wet autumn afternoon.

Slater's Premium
Bottle BBE in 13 months. Pours a light amber and reasonable sized white head. Caramel, biscuit and earthy hop aroma. Taste is the same with a yeastiness notable at times. Mouthfeel is very nice, quite smooth and a little creamy, although not to the extent of a Guinness, but seems to balance things nicely here. Moderate carbonation. Its a good bitter and very sessionable even if it lacks one or two flavour notes to take it to another level.

Slater's 1995 (25 years)
Cask at Slaters, Stafford Pours a hazy yellowish brown with a small creamy off-white head. Is slow to settle but it does so eventually. Not much of a nose – just vaguely fruity. Plenty of flavours in the mouth though. I managed orange, peach, apricot and ginger plus alcoholic strength, and an underlying metallic taste. Finish is a gooey and metallic taste at the back of the mouth that is difficult to get rid of. A bit of a mess really – certainly not worth the £4.50 per half that I was charged !

Slater's 1 Hop
Cask at Slaters, Stafford. Served too cold, so may require a rerate. Pours a golden yellow with a creamy white head and good lacing. Clear, but is slow to settle. An undistinguished nose – just a few hops. Taste has malts to the fore, with hops underneath and just a trace of citrus. But the was also a strange metallic taste, which I’m not sure was supposed to be there. Finish is bitter lemon. Run of the mill.

Cask at Slaters, Stafford Pours a pale yellow with a tight white head. Nose is of fresh hops and citrus. Hoppiness continues in the mouth, with more citrus featuring tangerine and lemon. Finish is dry and hoppy. It’s OK, but not really a bitter – more a hoppy pale ale.

Slater's Queen Bee
Cask at Slaters Bar, Stafford Pours a lemon yellow, which is slow to clear (but does eventually) and a tight white head. A strong aroma of honey in the nose, and the mouth is dominated by honey as well, although there are hints of malt and caramel as well. Finish is earthy with golden syrup. An OK beer, but would probably be better off without so much honey.
