Sonjeroo
Three Coins Irish Dark 2.5
Bottle from Galle, SL. Malty flavor, slightly sweet with a hint of acidity, which is refreshing for a SL beer. Made the mistake of drinking this after the Lion Stout, which diminished its desirability in comparison. Dark amber pour with a thick head.

Three Coins Lager 1.8
Bottle in Weligama, Sri Lanka. Smells of just about any cheap lager you would find in the states or elsewhere... But perhaps add the addition of (probably) sitting at room temperature in the tropics for a bit. Appearance is good. Amber with a thin head on pour. Color is appropriate for the style. Tastes about like it smells: cheap German lager with the addition of tropical heat and humidity and time. Bitter in a displeasing way, which overwhelms any other flavors. Maybe a hint of citrus? Hard to say. Sort of reminds me of Presidente and other tropical beers I’ve had but only once they’ve been imported to the states. Does the trick after a long day of surfing, as it’s cold and low enough in abv as to not be destructive but not immensely drinkable.

500ml blik in Nuwara Elya, Sri Lanka. Duidelijke donkergoudkleurig bier met een paar witte bubbels. Aroma is alcohol, graan en meer alcohol. Smaak is onaangenaam: erg alcoholisch met zoete moutige smaak.

Bottle split at GBBF ’15, day 3, thanks to Ollie Jobbins 13/08/15. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is roast malt, chocolate, toffee, dark fruits. Taste comprises light charr, chocolate, toffee, mellow dark fruit rinds, raisens, dark malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent foreign stout - country tick... really?

Had a few 625ml bottles of this while in Sri Lanka and shared one @ GBBF. I really liked this! Very dark brown pour with a pretty substantial tanned head. Aroma is roasted malts, a little alcohol and cocoa. Alcohol is very well covered in the taste - dangerous stuff! Malts, dark fruit, earthy and cocoa.

Finally tracked down a malt liquor, in Colombo , Sri lanka, and it is horrible. Sweet malt aroma and tastes, with an almost artificial alcohol influence. My 76th beer style, not sure I will return to it .

330ml can picked up in Sri Lanka (Jan ’14) and drunk one year later (Jan ’15). This is a cracker - if it was brewed in south London people would be raving about it. Wonderful full body with great roasted malt character, sweet chocolate and bitter coffee. Great stuff.

Bottle@Sri Lanka. Golden beer with a strong frothy head. The aroma is crisply dry, and the flavour is bitter with dryness and some lager maltiness. Overall a nice drinkable beer especially when you need a thirst quencher. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of Kermis. Poured a clear yellow with a very thin broken head. The aroma is a little malty but weak. The flavour is hugely malty but ultimately rather sickening. The minor saving grace is the alcohol. One to avoid.
