Kuhnhenn Triple Rice India Pale Ale (TRIPA) 3.7
Poured a lighter orange color with a white head. Aroma was big hop oils, perfume almost, and some caramel sweetness and booze. Flavor was very well balanced, almost like a hoppy barleywine, not too sweet, and bitterness is somehow held in check.

Kuhnhenn Bourbon Barrel French Toast Mead 4.2
(12oz bottle) clear very light yellow, excellent lacing. Nose of wildflower, honey, banana, spices, French toast, light bourbon. Taste is equally complex, banana, touch of bourbon, medium sweet, no heat at all despite the 16%, winter spices, quick palate finish but delicious and complex.

Kuhnhenn Sweet O.B. 3.9
Courtesy of Brandon Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate honey, apple, vanilla, coconut, and a touch of alcohol. It?s a pale white gold with a random bubble here and there. The flavor starts with moderate honey and a touch of apple. The finish has moderate vanilla, oak, mild bourbon, coconut, and a touch of alcohol. It?s medium-full bodied with minimal carbonation. Overall, a nice dessert beer in small doses. The sweetness would wear on me quickly if I was drinking more than a couple ounces.

Kuhnhenn Orange Blossom Mead 3.1
First "plain" mead Iíve had, (no fruit). Honey, slight mead boozyness. Slight citrus and orange peel. Very smooth. Decent, and probably as good as a traditional mead can be, but for me these work so much better with some fruit added.

Kuhnhenn Heather Ale 3.2
Draft at Kuhnhenn from backlog notes. Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted grainy malts, a decent herbal character, mild floral notes, some herbal bitterness, nothing really pops with this unlike many other options at the time.

Kuhnhenn Fourth Dementia (4D) Old Ale - Bourbon Barrel 4.3
Pours a dark, date-colored brown with a thin, lasting white head. Aroma is dark fruits, dates, plum, brown sugar, oak, vanilla, caramel, and light boozy notes. Flavor is sweet caramel, toffee, oak, vanilla, and dark fruits - hides the booze well. Flavor has an odd, almost soapy off-flavor as well as an astringent mouthfeel that interrupts the thick, syrupy, chewy body. Maybe itís the batch. This is still a delicious beer with an intoxicating aroma.

Kuhnhenn Sol Invictus Saison 3.9
Bottle... Pours cloudy and dark amber with orange flickers and a small, creamy, white head. Fantastic retention. The nose is too faint, but I finally pick up some sage. Full-bodied and fatty with tingly carbonation. The flavor is fruity and bready - light citrus tanginess and mild tannic, crusty bitterness. Tangy, bready finish. Pulls up just shy of being world-class. Kudos to biggsbowler for sharing this bottle of beer!

Pours a dark gold color with a thin white head. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, floral hops, and resin. Flavor is some citrus and floral hops and resin. Has light bitterness and a syrupy body. This is good, but for being a "triple" ipa it doesnít really set itself apart from other ipas.

Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock 4
2012 bottle: Pours clear reddish brown with no head. And I mean no head. The nose is big on írÝd sodavandí. Makes no sense if you are not from denmark. Raspberry sweetness and cherry sauce. Darn delicious I must says. Taste: fruity bock with a big malty body but the tart fruit is on top of things. A little spicy oak too. The aftertaste is rather hot from the booze but the finish is back to the fruits. Propper ass boss pour too thanks to motherbrother. Cheerio fella!

Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock 4
2012 vintage, thanks a lot mr. Dunt for this. Pour a reddish chesnut brown, with absolutely no head. Aroma is jam packed with raspberry jam, dark caramel, vanilla, toffee, almonds. Really a Big olí malt back, with the fruity jam from the raspberry. Taste is pretty darn sweet, with faint bitter hints - not from hops, but roasted malts/bitter chocolate-like stuff. Body is pretty full and oily, with as good as no carbonation. A Big boy beer for sure, with rather pronounced alcohol traces and slight burn. A little over the top splittiní this two way

Kuhnhenn American Imperial Stout - Bourbon Barrel 4.2
On draft at Kuhnhenn for Winter Solstice 2015. The pour is jet black, with a nice dark khaki/light brown head that falls to a thick collar and leaves no lace. The aroma is really good. There is a nice roast and some great bittering hops. There is a good bit of dark chocolate in there as well. The flavor is good. The chocolate and heavy malts come through first, followed by a nice oakiness and a lingering light bourbon. The hops take some of the bourbon influence off of it, and I'm really impressed. The mouth feel is thick and viscous, but a little under carbonated. The aftertaste is lingeringly bitter and roasty. This is a great stout. Not a lot of barrel character to it, but it's solid! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

koleminer20
Kuhnhenn Manhattan Project 4.2
On draft at the Winter Solstice 2015. The pour is a nice deep ruby with a little hint of orange in it. There is no head, and inherently, no lace. The aroma is sweet cherry syrup. There is a distinct melomel sweetness and then a light tart cherry takes over. The flavor is good. It's a little melomel dominated. I wish there were more cherry in it, but it's good. I like how it's not overly dry, but it's not overly sweet. There is a nice balance, but the mouth feel is a little sweet and sticky. It's thicker than I was expecting. The aftertaste is lightly syrupy and carries a little sweet cherry. Not bad at all ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kuhnhenn Michigan Mixer Melomel 3.8
2004 bottle from the brewery, drunk 11/28/15.
Clear, soft-apricot-lemon colored body has a fair amount of sediment on the bottom, but it is all left behind.
As with many of my old bottles, Iím incredibly regretful of keeping them so long. Was just so irrationally obsessed with aging things but, while a mead can certainly handle some age, fruit can not and itís utterly stupid to age this thing as long as I did. Thus, there is very little left of the fruit, at this point itís just soft esters, with some apricot maybe being noticeable? Doubtful though and no way youíd pick it out blind. In its place, a very soft honey character, with light white bread and some peppery phenols. Minor oxidation, no flaws and no alcohol.
Again in the flavor, the fruit has all but vanished. It does seem like you get some raspberry and apricot acidity, and maybe some dry, blueberry skin-like character, but again, Iím confident you wouldnít pick up on this blind. Honey is lightly sweet, with a riesling/gruner character, light vanilla and very, very low carbonation. Still, as it warms and breathes (and sits out over night) it shows a perfectly capable mead whose only flaw is that it was aged 11 years. Very much keeping that in mind with my scoring.

Kuhnhenn Olde Brune 3.7
Bottle from DanGeo. Mild mahogany with a light brown head that completely fades. A strong cherry and light oak aroma, some very light cough syrup, some tartness to balance the syrup, slight nuttiness, highly caramelized brown sugar (slightly burnt even), some roasted malt, low carbonation and fully body, enjoyable but better to split a bottle.
