Tuatara Tiramisu
500ml bottle. Darkest brown in color with a lasting tan head. The aroma is roasty with loads of coffee and dark chocolate with some vanilla. The flavor is dry and roasty, coffee bean and hop bitterness, just a touch of chocolatey sweetness. Medium bodied, drying, well carbonated. Well done beer.

Tuatara Sauvinova
All sauvin on the nose, dank and fruity. Nice hop bite, lots of grape and fruit salad, pine, touch of caramel, dry hoppy finish. Good stuff considering it showcases only fresh nelson, but i’m slightly bored with that hop these days.

Tuatara Indian Pale Ale
From bottle. Cracked the cap and instant foam. After taking the first sip I understand why. Over carbed. The bitterness is within my range. Strangely thick and sweet. Like it wasn’t allowed to ferment out properly or they have added too much corn syrup. No real hoppy aroma noticeable. It’s not real bad but I wouldn’t buy it again.

Tuatara The Third Eye Vorpal Blade
Pint at Third Eye bar. Pours a deep black with off white head. Aromatic nose with lots of hop notes. Small body which is expected for an IPA, deceptive though in its flavour profile.

Tuatara Outrigger Pacific Pale Ale
Fruity nose which could pass for a lemon honey and thyme beer. But a shade more tropical than that - pineapple, papaya, apricot jam and unripe mango. Light, slightly toffee malt body. Like an Australian (hops)/nz (brewer) version of (UK brewer) Burning Sky’s Easy Answers (albeit with the bass turned down, and the treble turned up).

Bitterness intensifies, light citrus, grapes, light tropical fruits, apricots, Nelson Sauvin, pine. Outstanding APA, well-balanced, intense, beautiful aroma. Bottle from Independent Spirit, Bath.

Tuatara Tu-Rye-Ay Midnight Rye IPA
500ml bottle BB 4/7/17 so nice and fresh then. Floral hoppy aroma. Pours dark brown/black with tan head. Malt notes but it’s the hops that are the star of the show here. A beer I could quite easily sit on all night if it was on tap down at my Greenhithe local. Definitely worth the effort guys/gals.

Again with this beer and getting to the review. Old? New? Really doesn’t matter as this is fantastic. Mango, pine, spicy and nasty which I absolutely love, apricot, caramel, earth, brutalness, cookie stuff, more bitterness, screw this. So good that I condensed the review and now I’m just going to pour it over my nipples and roll back and forth over the newly wet carpet.

Tuatara Solstice Spiced Saison
Spiced malts, a touch of nutmeg, herbal orange. Hazy, dark gold, massive, frothy, off-white head. Light bitter. Grassy bitterness continues, spiced lemon, bitter malts, medium carbonation, spices in the finish. Interesting Saison, but really the flavour is not entirely to my liking, sweet, burnt, spiced orange. Bottle from Independent Spirit, Bath.

Tuatara Foxhole Pale Ale
Bottle. Pale amber with a white head. Aroma of mandarins, sherbet, some bread crust, watermelon, musk sticks. Light bodied, refreshing. Fruity with tropical fruit (didn’t smell all that tropical but it builds), lollies, very light bread. Bitterness is fairly low but it’s dry enough at the end that it works. Doesn’t strike me as particularly martial.

Tuatara Wilder Brew
Bottle from Greenslopes Cellars 060716. This beer has a big full atoms that is plenty fruity with peach, passionfruit and rockmelon aromas. Clear in the glass with a lump of rocky white foam sitting on top of the beer. Starts off the in the mouth thenbuilds to a full bodied beer that leaves a musky aftertaste.

On the basis that I’m drinking this on draft now I guess this is the 2016 version. Pours clear orange Amber with a white head. Aroma of not much. Some mild pine. Maybe this is a nothing compared to stuff I’ve been drinking earlier but not much happening here.

There is nothing really bad to say about this beer. Lovely aroma on opening, coffee, chocolate, lovely black pour with a coffee tinged head that is significant. Taste is mostly that green cold drip coffee that I really like, and there is plenty of body and sweetness, possibly that vanilla, in it to carry you. Just outstanding. Similar in many ways to the Epic Coffee and Fig stout in my mind, both brilliant beers. Get some you won’t be sorry.

Thin body carries malt, pine, citrus. Average carbonation. Good level of bitterness. First bottle was quite annoying, my palate was teased with light watercolour washes of flavour which disappeared as soon as they arrived. Second bottle was better, as I had adjusted to it. If you are driving, this is an OK, drinkable beer.

Tuatara APA (Aotearoa Pale Ale)

BB 14.1.17 Bottle 2016 version. Clear golden amber tinged, with the finest bubbles to charge that decent white head. Hops are a standout but not overpowering with tropical fruit, citrus and trademark Nelson Gooseberry, little bit of spice and passionfruit too. Malts are light and sweet. Excellent fresh hopped IPA that’s non aggressive in bitterness and will still leave the enamel on your teeth.
