Nussdorfer Brauhaus Reviews

Nussdorfer St. Thomas Zwicklbrau
Very similar to the Alt, just unfiltered so an additional yeastiness and maybe a bit more flavour and bitterness were detectable. Pretty good. (draught in brewpub)

Nussdorfer St. Thomas Brau
A deep chestnut brown beer with a lot of flavour. Roasted grain and toasted malt dominate with some bitterness in the finish. The best one of the bunch to me. (draught in brewpub)

Nussdorfer Kutscherbier
As near to wort as I like to get whilst out drinking. The aroma and taste of unfermented wort were not very attractive to me whilst the cloying sweetness made my teeth ache. Not impressed! (draught in Brewpub)

Nussdorfer Doppelhopfen Hell
A subtle, well balanced and suppable pale ale. Not sure about the "double hop" bit, seems like they missed out a dose to me, but palatable all the same. (draught in brewpub)

Like the idea, hate the beer! before anyone says I don't appreciate smoked drinks, let me state I have bottles of 5 of the Islay distilleries in the house and love Schlenkerla beers...! Anyway, I was really looking forward to this one but, as with the stout, they've totally overdone the flavour. The TCP and smoke flavour totally dominate the flavour and, IMO, it's way too much - a hint would have been a lot better. I hated it, but appreciate others may like it. (on draught in brewpub)

Nussdorfer Sir Henry English Stout
After all the hype over this beer (Michael Jackson's favourite Austrian beer) I expected more. Overly sweet, in a sickly way, with way too much caramel. Body is too thin to hold this much flavour. Nothing like an English stout, but if you take it on it's own merits, not too bad I suppose - if you like sweet beers like mackesons. (on draught in brewpub)

Nussdorfer Kutscherbier
Sampled draught at Nußdorfer Braustüberl.
Golden, clear, brief head. Some raisin aroma. Softly malty, mild and lightly grassy. Fairly low bitterness. Very pleasant for a low alcohol beer, but side to side with it's stronger cousin Doppelhopfen Hell it is hopelessly thin.

Nussdorfer Doppelhopfen Hell
Sampled draught at Nußdorfer Braustüberl.
Golden colour. Strangely separated - near the airy head it is cloudy, but it's crystal clear below. Flowery nose with some malt aroma. Light bodied and sweet. The malt profile is Nussdorfers signature careful soft and gentle. It is aromatic and mild with low bitterness. Only double hopped by Austrian standards...

Nussdorfer Old Whiskey Beer
Sampled draught at Nußdorfer Braustüberl.
Nut brown, small head. Peaty, smokey nose. Fruity and medium sweet with soft, generous maltyness. The finish is salty and peaty like an islay whiskey. Mild, yet flavourful and complex. A discrete masterpiece.

Nussdorfer St. Thomas Zwicklbrau
Sampled draught at Nußdorfer Braustüberl.
Hazy copper in colour, creamy head. Grassy and dry, soft and mild. The malt profile is delicte, and well balanced by the presence of grassy, aromatic hops. Medium bitterness.

Nussdorfer Sir Henry English Stout
Sampled draught at Nußdorfer Braustüberl.
Black with brief creamy head. Very chocolatey. Mild and light bodied. Velvetty soft, yet fairly dry. Loads of very roasty coffee in the fininsh. Light for a stout, and very well mixing the Austrian traditions with mild, malt accented beers with the more bold English style ales.

Nussdorfer Sir Henry English Stout
Dark brown-red color. Medium head, dissipates rather quickly. Sweet, malty aroma, watery and sweet caramel flavor, light bitterness. Not really much of a stout, but an enjoyable beer.

Nussdorfer St. Thomas Zwicklbrau
Light yeasty and nutty aroma. Dark brown, off-white creamy head, good lace. Light sweet, light caramel, smooth. And in the very end of the aftertaste finally some hops.

Nussdorfer Sir Henry English Stout
Light butterscotch aroma. Dark brown, off-white frothy head, good lace. Watery, light sweet. More like a mix of lager with stout than a real stout. In the aftertaste a hint of chocolate and some hops.
