BlackHaddock	3.2 Phoenix Heywood Hand-pulled pint at the Pheasant Inn and Brewhouse on 26th March 2024 during the wake of my old friend Stu Harding, a lovely chap. Clean and clear light golden body, white crown. Hoppy with a slight citrus leaning in both the nose and taste, easy going and an idea beer to have with a few ham sandwiches and crisps! Martinsh	3.5 Phoenix Arizona Cask at Tap n Barrell, Wigan. Pours gold with minimal off-white head and excellent lacing. The aroma has floral hops and grains. In the mouth iy was superficially sweet, but with some underlying sharpness and a creamy texture. The flavour is basically floral hops with some hints of barley sugar, spices and ginger. Finish is decidedly dry. This is entirely reasonable. Saturday, August 19, 2023
Martinsh	3.2 Phoenix White Monk Cask at Borough Arms, Crewe. Pours golden amber with a small off-white head, good lacing and medium carbonation. Floral hops and grains to the fore in the aroma, plus some hints of malts. In the mouth it starts off sweet and creamy but with a little underlying bitterness. This bitterness gradually increases and oranges and marmalade come through along with hints of ginger and spices. Finish is bitter and somewhat sticky. It’s reasonable. Saturday, July 29, 2023

Martinsh	4 Phoenix Porter Cask at Moon Under Water, Wigan. Pours almost black with a medim sized foamy tan head . There’s chocolate and roast malts in the aroma. In the mouth it is initially sweet, if a little watery,with flavours of chocolate, lactose, and malts. After a while it becomes quite bitter with liquorice, before the chocolate reasserts itself in a slightly dry finish. This is rather nice. Saturday, January 14, 2023

Martinsh	3.5 Phoenix Boss Man's Brew Cask at Bear & Billet, Chester. Pours a golden yellow with a small off-white head and good lacing. Malts are the mainstay of the aroma – plus some hints of chestnuts. In the mouth it is sweet and light with a rather watery texture. Traditional hops are there in the flavour, but don’t swamp it. Later there are some underlying malts and traces of toffee and autumn fruits. Finish is dry and quite bitter. This is quite nice. Saturday, November 12, 2022

Aroma of tangerines and red berries, with some leafy hoppiness. Flavour was sweet, with strawberries and crystallised oranges, ripe malts, and some caramel, before a warming finish. Martinsh	2.8 Phoenix Double Gold Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. There’s malts and oranges in the aroma. In the mouth it is initially sweet and fruity with some underlying biscuit malts. However, bitter citrus quickly cxomes to overwhelm this, and yucky lemon comes to dominate. Martinsh	3.5 Phoenix Black Bee Cask at Borough Arms, Crewe but have drunk this many times before. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. Malts are prominent in the roma with some honey sweetness there too. In the mouth it is dark fruits that immediately grab the attention. Honey and malts come along later with a little chocolate and liquorice. Finish is quite sweet. A decent enough porter, but not quite as nice as I remembered it. Thursday, December 30, 2021

Immediate impression in the mouth is light, sweet and fruity. This resolves to summer fruits with floral hops coming through later plus a hint of ginger. Finish is quite bitter.
