Sophisticated Otter Pale Ale
On tap at the brewpub. This would be the ale they make for the UN-sophisticated otters. Mine arrived flat. Kind of a dark-gold to amber color. Body was a little thin for me and the hops were very absent for the style. I think the brewer can do better.

Sophisticated Otter Porter
On tap at the brewpub. Hey, this is a nice place for Johnson City! Outdoor beer garden in East Tennessee? Maybe there’s hope for civilization yet! This is not a bad porter. Dark black in appearance, with great head retention. Subtle roasted malt flavor, but mostly chocholate and black patent I suspect. Good hop balance and a less-than-stout body. Great when it warms up. Don’t start with this one at the Otter, finish with it.

Sophisticated Otter Porter
This was a surprisingly bold beer for a brewpub. Brewpubs on the average seem to be a bit timid on the flavor front. Nice black appearance with good brown, big-bubbled head. Big coffee flavor, some chocolate. Very stoutish porter.

Sophisticated Otter Pale Ale
Fairly citric beer with surprisingly low bitterness. A bit thin, but not too much so for style. This beer can't quite compare to the boldness of their porter, but it's not a bad beer, either.
