Terminal Gravity Brewing Company Reviews

Terminal Gravity Festivale 3.5
Terminal Gravity Brewing’s Festivale Winter Warmer 8.4% It pours a deep reddish brown that is virtually black with a good 1cm of beige foam. The aroma is lovely rich maltiness: raisins, maple syrup, toffee, molasses - smells like something that was either was in a barrel or should be. Full bodied, malty sweet caramel, bitter, smoked maple and all in all a decent winter beer.

Terminal Gravity IPA 3.7
Bottle, 10C. Clear amber with an inch of near white head. Interesting aroma with bread crusts, peach, pine logs, kumquats, grapefruit. Full bodied but not sticky, moderate carbonation. Bittersweet with hop aromatics thoroughly melded into clean rich malt flavours. Bread, singed grain, peach, hints of stewed and dried fruit, citrus peel, pine. Fairly strong bitterness. A bit wearing after a while, but a fine beer and a good reminder that IPA is a very broad "style" even in the West of the US.

Terminal Gravity Saison 3.2
Draught at Collective on Tap, Woodinville, WA
Murky orange golden color with almost no head. The body is round, moderately sweet; there is some yeast, very light spices, light fruitiness. Orange peel in the final.
It tastes like some homebrew, not bad, a bit messy.

Terminal Gravity Eagle Cap IPA 3.7
Nice tasty IPA with a good hop aroma and flavor. This was a good beer I liked the malt backing and hops finish on this beer. Terminal Gravity always does a great beer...

Terminal Gravity Festivale 1.1
Ugh...Liquid Smoke, bitter and boring. Where’s the malt? Another homage to the bitter sensory deprived. Cough drop

Terminal Gravity ESG 3
Bottle from Kumiyama AEON Mall liquor shop. Light fruit nose, overripe citrus, hay. Hazy medium amber color. Some sweet malt up front, a bit of grass, small peppery note, dusty, and mildly dry in finish. Thin-medium body. Okay.

Bottle from Kumiyama AEON Mall liquor shop. Caramel and yogurt candy nose, pine, floral and fresh. Copper color. Malty initial, citrus and pine (grapefuit and resin), some mild tropical fruit, and a small bitter finish. Medium-heavy body. Big-featured brew. Approaching barleywine in character. Rich and well-balanced stuff. Nice flavor changes throughout the palate.

Terminal Gravity Pale Ale 3.7
Bottle from Kumiyama AEON Mall liquor shop. Thick caramel nose, veyr fruity, bready, biscuity. Hazy copper/brown color. Malty initial, quite earthy, gently tart in mid palate, spicy, with light but clear hopping in finish. Medium body. Thick stuff, more ESB or light barleywine-like than pale. A touch high in alc.

Terminal Gravity / GoodLife GTwo Imperial Red Ale 3.8
Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A big beige head over the amber body. A really pleasant aroma that is floral and fruity. Those flavors are tasted along with some gentle bitterness. Alcohol is not tasted at all. The malts are fairly well balanced and do resemble what would be expected of a Red Ale. However, the hops shine here and, not being a fan of Reds, I find that a bonus.

Terminal Gravity / GoodLife GTwo Imperial Red Ale 4.1
Shared with Strykzone via Facebook chat. We puzzled over the name and finally concluded it must mean 2 Gs. or G two. or Gtwo. It poured a lightly hazy dark amber with a beige head and excellent lacing. Nose of rich caramel malts and citrus. Full body. Creamy mouth feel. Flavor is is rich and well balanced with no alcohol present. Finish is just a little bitter. Really rich and good drinking beer. I like this one a lot. Or maybe I should say I love it.

Terminal Gravity Weed Whacker 3.2
Bottle from Liquor Outlet. Slightly hazy light golden in color. Nose is dominated by grassy hops. Smell like a pilsner with a bit of breadiness to it. Grassy hops up front with a fairly clean light malt base. Somewhat watery. A pretty good summer session beer. Watery like a lot of pale lagers, but is much more flavorful.

Terminal Gravity Slick Rock Fresh Hop IPA 3.7
On tap at the brewery. Reddish amber brown (not quite as dark at their Pale) with moderate off white head. Aromas of resin, leather & caramel. Favors of leather, caramel, peach & cardamon. Good oily thickness in the mouth. balanced finish.

Terminal Gravity ESG 3
caramel, earthy, golden, hazy, lightly sour, medium body, slick feel, flat. Faint grainy/earthy aroma with a hint of lemon. Very balanced in taste, a nice tart finish that evaporates in an instant. The flatness is definitely in its favor.

Terminal Gravity IPA 4.2

Terminal Gravity IPA 3.3
Pours a hazy golden brown with a thin pale head. Hints of citrus in the aroma, along with sweet malts. Roasty and malty flavor. A bit burnt with some hop background. This beer has lots of flavor, but it is a bit heavy for my liking.

Terminal Gravity Tap Out 3.2
On tap at PIB 2015, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out a good mix of resin and biscuity caramel malt. Flavour is quite fruity, with stone fruits, light piney hops and a dry biscuity malt backing. Well-balanced and clean, but not terribly complex.

Terminal Gravity ESG 3.3
Bottle from Roth’s. Medium golden/brownish in color. Lightly fruity nose with some sweetness and a bit of breadiness. Flavor is somewhat bready with a little bit of an earthy hop character. Fairly bright for the earthiness of the brew.

Terminal Gravity Eagle Cap IPA 3.8
On tap at multnomah lucky lab. Seems like a "cleaned up" version of their regular IPA-- resiny, but not as, a more conventional golden than the slightly greenish regular. Eagle cap is crisper, and lighter in color, flavor and aroma. mildly distincltive

Terminal Gravity Pale Ale 2.6
Bottle. Pours a very cloudy amber color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose is a bit fruity and lightly grassy, but does seem to be a little past its prime (thanks, Total Wine). Taste is a bit bitter, but with some stale earthiness coming through. All in all, average at best.
Friday, May 22, 2015

Terminal Gravity ESG 2.1
Bottle. Pours a rather hazy copperish color with a small white head on there. Nose is very earthy and a little bit doughy, like something was sitting outside for a while in the rain. Taste actually is a bit smokey on top of the earthiness. Does not come across well.

Terminal Gravity / GoodLife GTwo Imperial Red Ale 3.9
Bottled on 01/26/15. Thanks Diana! This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a hazy amber color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a good minute. A light foamy ring of lacing is just above the bulb in the glass. The smell had a wonderful blend of caramel malts to a nice citrusy hops. The taste had a full bittersweet blend of sweet caramel malts to bittersweet citrus hops. A soft sticky caramel to citrus aftertaste leads to a semi-dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel about it. Carbonation feels appropriately styled as there’s enough sharpness but nothing to overpower the bitterness from the style. Overall, weird how I got to add this after all of the hype I’ve heard behind it. Anyways, this was a well done Amber balanced nicely with some citrusy hops. In my opinion, I believe hopheads could get behind this one.

Terminal Gravity Pale Ale 3.3
Bottle (6.1%) from LifeSource. Dark amber brownish in color. Somewhat hazy. Bready nose with a bit a little hoppiness. Some dry earthiness up front. Has characteristics of English hoppiness. Pretty good maltiness as well. Mouthfeel is pretty full. Tastes like a strong bitter or something.
Tuesday, April 28, 2015

Terminal Gravity Festivale 3.5
Bottle from Lifesource. Deep amber in color. Nose is fairly rich and roasty. Some dark fruit and a little candy sugar. Malts and dark fruit up front with a pretty good hoppy kick in the end. Enjoyable winter brew.

Terminal Gravity Tap Out 3.2
Poured from a 12. Aroma has a slight caramel nose. First flavor is sweet, crisp and very carbonated. Finishes dank, like a Bud, and really bitter.
Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Terminal Gravity Tap Out 4.2
12 oz bottle. Aroma: malty, fruity, woody, and slightly boozy and skunky, with hints of caramel, butterscotch, bread, and barnyard. Taste/Palate: sweet and thick; finishes slightly bitter and astringent.

Terminal Gravity Tap Out 3.4
Decent stuff. A big red beer with malt forward head, wonderfully un-metallic for the style. Soft and subtle but warm. I think they did a great job but a 6-pack is a stretch at this ABV. They going after the Lagunitas market?

Terminal Gravity Tap Out 3.8
12oz bottle from Lifesource Natural Grocers in Salem OR $1.79 Says 9.8% alc Clear light copper coloured ale with a nice cream coloured half inch head. Aroma not very prominent..mostly bready malts and the slightest of spice from the rye. Taste oddly different more fruity .. light peach..nectarine ( the yeast), some caramel malts and a touch of cascade hops. Nice actually Nice smooth palate..very little sign of the strong alc volume. I liked this one..strong but a good sipper. my 2000th

Terminal Gravity Festivale 4.4
Poured from a 12. Has a nice strong ale aroma. Flavor is slightly bitter, caramel and creamy. Doesn’t have all the crazy, overspiced flavor to it, which is awesome! Great seasonal beer!

Terminal Gravity Breakfast Porter 3.2
Looks like a dark rootbeer, and even has a sprucy hop note in the aroma, with some chocolate. The taste is sour cocoa and malt, with oxidized sweetness into the finish. Not too happy with this one. $2/12oz

Terminal Gravity Festivale 2.9
Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber color with an impossibly tick light tan head on there. Nose has some grains and caramel to it. Taste is a bit of alcohol, leading me to believe it’s stronger than it is, and reminds of a barleywine with that caramel.

Terminal Gravity IPA 4.8
Phenomenal. Pours beautiful golden auburn, more on the dark side of that visual mix. Great blend of hops. Some malt, nut, a bit of spiciness. Has almost a slight porter feel to it, but there’s a pleasant lightness. Just amazing in the blend. Goes down so easy, I could roll through several of these. Definitely a top IPA experience.

Terminal Gravity Festivale 3.4
Bottle. Dark cloudy appearance. Malty and a little sweet, some bitterness but overall well balanced.

Terminal Gravity Eagle Cap IPA 2.5
gotta wonder about age or cleanliness of lines on this one, though I expect a tap beer (especially a hoppy one) to be fresh. this was very very booooooring. light bitterness and hop flavor, and too much malt, with a little carboard. Meh...
