Harmon Brewery & Restaurant Reviews

Harmon Kamehamehaís Crown Pineapple IPA 4.3
Purchased from The Beer Junction, Seattle, WA May this year. Bottle 149/240. Had one of those feelings I shouldíve bought more than one of these when I had the chance. This was one of those spectacular beer experiences a geek like yourself would enjoy. Fairly bourbony on the nose with hints of tropical fruit and a bit of red wine. Flavors are abound in every direction with notes of vanilla, oak, pinot, tropical fruits tossed with hops, pineapple, and a singe of hoppy bitterness in the finish blended with bourbon alcohol. Fucking brilliant and beautiful. Wish I had more!!!!

22oz bottle picked up at Yokes
Pours cloudy golden with a medium sized off white head, good lacing. Aroma is malty, caramel, dusty and pine. Taste is malty, sweet caramel, earthy and pine resin
A decent IPA, a little too malty for me though but it does have a nice pine resin bitterness in the finish to help with the malty sweetness.

A nice red that's not really a red. Pours a muddy brown with a thick tan head. Smells of cloves, Rosemary, honey and a bit of hops. Taste is quite different, very creamy, lots of mocha and vanilla, more like a porter. Sweeter then expected. Finishes with a slight hop bitterness. Had in the bottle.

Harmon Point Defiance IPA 3
Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy amber to red/orange (tinted along the sides) color. There was a light half finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing conveying itself along the sides of the glass. The smell had a decent intrusive citrus to piney bitterness. The taste followed the aroma in a nice way. On the palate, this one sat right about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp and wanted to try to be invasive to pummel my tongue into submission but it didnít. Overall, this was a mostly decent AIPA that I think I could have again.

Harmon Rajahs Royal IPA 2.7
Bottle. Pours a cloudy darker amber color with a moderate white head on there. Nose is bready and earthy with just a bit of toffee coming through. Taste is bitter but earthy and unfresh. Just not all that appealing for me.

Harmon Mt. Takhoma Blonde 4.3
SUPERB session ale. Highly flavor for the ABV. Iím getting banana notes ala a wheat ale, plus a bit of hops. For the ABV, itís quite difficult to do better.

Dark roasted malts, coco, caramels, and expresso notes. The finish has just a bit if bitterness, maybe from the malts. Good body and mouthfeel. Overall an impressive stout.

Harmon Puget Sound Porter 3.5
I purchased this bottle from Breeze In, Juneau, Alaska and am reviewing this from notes. I poured this into a pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a one and a half fingered white to off white foamy head that rises a bit and then dies leaving a nice milky to creamy looking thick foamy lacing. The smell was nice and roasty coffee to having a decent light chocolate settling over the aroma. The taste was bitter to roasty and ended up leaving a decent roasty bitter coffee to chocolate aftertaste with a dry bitter finish. On the palate, it sits about a light to medium with a decent harsh carbonation settling over the mouth and tongue as well as indicating a somewhat decent sessionability about it. Overall, I say this is a good American Porter well worthy of having again.

Harmon Rajahs Royal IPA 4.1
Good but not great. At this ABV level, the resin is just too high. Consistency likewise is quite syrupy for the ABV. Think of all the flavor, if you will, of DFH120, without the ABV. A worthwhile tradeoff for some.

Harmon Expedition Amber 3.3
Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a smallish off-white head on there. Nose has some caramel to it, as well as some subtle dark fruit elements to it. Taste is a little sweet up front, but then has a toasty finish which I didnít expect. Not a bad beer.
Thursday, April 24, 2014

Harmon Puget Sound Porter 3.5
Bottle. Pours a near black color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is roasty with a fair amount of coffee and just a hint of chocolate to it. Taste is actually a little bitter, and very slightly sour. Has some baltic porter characteristics, though not enough to represent that style.

Harmon Point Defiance IPA 3.4
Roll this beer if drinking from the bottle, as it was separated. Very dry and bitter on the bottom. Refreshingly did not have grapefruit profile that a lot of big IPAís have nowadays.
Tuesday, April 01, 2014

Harmon Point Defiance IPA 3.5
Nice IPA. Tastes stronger than its ABV, like a double IPA. Reminds me of Silver City St Florian.
Saturday, March 22, 2014

Harmon Puget Sound Porter 3.3
Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of dark roasted malt. Similar flavor with a hint of dark chocolate.
Friday, February 14, 2014

Harmon Expedition Amber 3.6
Bomber, apparently 5.5% ABV. Opaque orange brown, foamy tan head mostly fades. Rich caramel malt , floral hop aroma. Floral herbal earthy hop, sweet caramel malt taste, faint citrus grapefruit. Average carbonation, medium bodied, a more robust, well hopped amber makes it: NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
