3.8 Bozeman Funky Virtue 375ml bottle @ home. 2019 Vintage. Pours a very clear copper colour with a small white head that dissipates fast. Nose is of muddled cherries with sour notes, some balsamic, and hints of port barrels. Flavour is reminiscent of rainier cherries, pits and all, some funk, and with port boozy highlights and trails with some tannins. Medium bodied, good carbonation, and a mild to moderate sweetness with a mild astringency. Tuesday, September 6, 2022

3.7 Bozeman Funky Virtue Poured from 375mL bottle (2019 vintage; abv listed as 10.1%). Clear salmon orange with extremely quickly dissipating white head (to nothing). Sweet bright cherry (almost Rainier cherry like), mild woodiness, light touch of tartness underlies. It's nice, but could still smooth out the edges. Tuesday, September 6, 2022

3.6 Bozeman Taurus Imperial Stout Can from Brix Bottle Shop in Kalispell, MT. Pours a pitch black color with a beige head and very good retention. Spotty lacing. Very dark roasted malt aroma. Very dark roasted malt flavor to match the aroma, and some very dark chocolate bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. Overall this is a very mellow imperial stout for 8.8% ABV and 70 IBUs. Not boozy. Easily one of the best imperial stouts I've had. Saturday, August 6, 2022

4 Bozeman Taurus Imperial Stout Pours super dark with a nice beige head that looks foamy and soft and craters slowly. Aroma of malt and coffee. Slightly sweet on the front end but the hop bitters slowly kick in along with some caramel and very roasty malts. Slightly thick in the mouth, as you would expect from this beer, but still very smooth. This is one of the better imperial stouts brewed in Montana that I have tried. Saturday, February 19, 2022

3.4 Bozeman Variation 375ml bottle @ the office. Pours a hazy dull golden colour with a tiny white head. Nose is nicely funky, tart citrus, and a hint of non-descript fruity notes. Flavour is briney with citrus tartness, a hint of oak, and a subtle apricot hint. 3.4 Bozeman Variation 375mL bottle, pours a hazy pale golden blonde with a tiny white head. Nose is fairly funky, with plenty of funk, tart citrus, some apricot, light salt, and coriander. Flavour is fairly salty and tart, with tart citrus, light apricot, and some oak. There's some nice bugs here, but it's a little too citrusy and acidic. All in all, good. Saturday, October 9, 2021

3.4 Bozeman Vieux Bois 375ml bottle @ the office. Pours a hazy golden colour with a small white head. Nose is a medley of citrus, lemon, wild yeast, and gentle funk. Flavour is mild yeasts with a lemon citrus, light funk, and semi bracing acidity, and trails with a slight vanila oak barrel character. Light bodied, ok carbonation, and a mild sweetness with a moderate rough acidity. It's ok, but by no means a lambic. Saturday, October 9, 2021

3.5 Bozeman Vieux Bois 375ml @ Sales Force. Appearance: hazy pale golden with a white weak head. Aroma: barrel, fermented vegetable, wild yeasts, creamy-vanilla notes coming from the barrel. Taste: along the same lines, moderately acidic. Overall: ok. Saturday, October 9, 2021

3.5 Bozeman Vieux Bois 375mL bottle, pours a hazy pale golden with a small white head. Aroma has a nice oak barrel character, light barnyard, and lots of bugs -- not exactly gueuze-like, but close. Flavour is fairly acidic, with lots of oak, some bugs, light citrus tartness, and a bit of barnyard funk. Not convincing as a lambic, but there's some nice wild yeast character. Tart, tangy, with some nice bugginess. Good, but not close to an authentic lambic, nor all that interesting or complex a sour. Saturday, October 9, 2021

3.6 Bozeman Hey Bear Honey Kölsch Perfectly clear golden coloured body with a thinnish, one to two centimetre tall pure white head that stays afloat for a long time and fades to just a thin layer after a few seconds. Aroma of bright grassy and hay-like notes with some biscuits, light yeast, bread and a good dose of sugar from honey (seemingly) noticeable at the end with a very distinct crispness as well. Light-bodied; Light grassy and floral components start this off nicely with a strong green tea flavour and some moderate honey sweetness on top of the very crisp malts that show the hay-like notes and a biscuity finish with a touch of alcohol noticeable here as well. Aftertaste shows the dry malts, a lot of yeast and breadiness and some subdued herbal elements, all with a lihgt sweetness from the honey and even some extra caster sugar thrown in with a tiny bit of lemoney acidity at the finish as well. Overall, a pretty nice, dry and light beer that has a good deal of flavours and a moderate complexity, all easy-drinking with the crisp level of sweetness to make this good for the summertime, in Montana of course, but even in the hot city of Washington, during the middle of summer! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Bullwinkle's Liqour Store in West Yellowstone, Montana on 29-July-2020 for US$1,67 sampled just over a year later at my house here in Washington on 11-August-2021. 3.6 Bozeman Hey Bear Honey Kölsch 12 oz. can poured to fest stemware at home displaying a clear, golden hue, a nice array of rising bubbles, a presentable layer of soft white froth that slowly reduced to a persistent ring, with dots & dashes of foamy lacing. The nose was soft grain & straw maltiness, a mild Pils/ almost light lager scent, and slight honey at best. Light to medium bodied, with lively, seltzer-like carbonation, the taste was similar notes, adding moderate, grainy bitterness, and some dryness to the finish. Crisp, clean, and decent session refreshment. Tuesday, June 8, 2021

3.8 Bozeman Haze Trip Hazy IPA Deep hazy golden coloured body, which looks like raw honey with a nice two three centimetre tall pure white head - about 90 per cent opaque. Aroma of juice, oranges, light grass, hay and a dash of caster sugar sweetness with a soft malt backbone and a noticeable hoppy scent. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong rich juicy bite that shows a lot of citrus, oranges, floral and soft malt character with a lot of dry grassiness as well, but a good hop bite that shows a little bitterness, but much more hops show through in the other flavours. Aftertaste shows a light juicy quality with some supportive malts, but a smooth hop and bitter quality that is very refreshing and makes this go down very easily. Overall, a very nice hazy IPA that's on the lighter side in terms of alcohol, but packs a lot of the good flavours, just in an easy and more approachable package. Very nice to sample and well-recommended if you can find it, to drink fresh! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Super One [grocery store] in Kalispell, Montana on 26-July-2020 for US$1,67 sampled right after driving the Going-To-The-Sun road in Glacier National Park on 27-July-2020. 3.8 Bozeman Bozone HopZone IPA Crisp golden and peach coloured body with a thinnish, pure white head. Aroma of very grassy and crisp grapefruity hops along with some perfumey characteristics that show a lot of malt support and a sliver of alcohol towards the end. Medium-bodied; Deep rich malty flavour at first with some caramelised sugars along with a hint of nuttiness and a rustic cereal note, but then the citrusey and perfumey hops take over and dominate the pungency with a lot of alpha acid bitterness and an ending of subdued citrus sweetness and almost a juicy quality. Aftertaste shows a great balance of malt and hops with a good rich malt backbone underneath a ton of hop bitterness, especially on the grassy and perfumey side. Overall, a very nice rich IPA that has a lot of good and balanced flavours that show a bunch of malts and a ton of hops that all work out well, and the complexity from all the hops together make for a very nice, rich and still drinkable beer. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Super One [grocery store] in Kalispell, Montana on 26-July-2020 for US$1,67 sampled in my hotel room here in Columbia Falls, Montana after visiting Glacier National Park on 27-July-2020. 3.7 Bozeman Vieux Bois - Apricot 375mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma reveals lots of pitted apricots upfront, with gentle wild yeast, and a touch of oak. 3.6 Bozeman 3rd Virtue Belgian Tripel Thanks Jay for the can! It pours a yellow gold, hazy, good head of foam that sticks around, lacing is good. In the smell I get cloves, coriander, light banana, candi sugar sweetness. The taste is of light bananas, coriander is substantial, cloves, candi sugar is here but not like in the smell. It's 35 IBUs but I get very little bitterness. The alcohol is held in check pretty well. Bananas are starting to be more bold as the session continues. Mouthfeel is a full medium, if that makes sense, carbonation is not overly bubbly. Tasty Tripel. Friday, May 24, 2019
