Keg at Rogue Public Bar, Portland, OR on 08/08/08. This was a nice triple, with a good spicy and yeasty aroma and soft body. Carbonation was perhaps a little bit to rough, but this was on tap. Pleasant lingering bready and fruity notes.

Issaquah No Quarter Smoked Porter (Smoked Frog)
Keg at Eugene City Brewery (Rogue), Eugene, OR on 09/06/2008. Smoked? Porter? Yes please! Very nice again, with a decent smokey note. I really liked these Issaquah beers. Shame Rogue seemed to have closed all of these associate brewpubs.

Keg at Eugene City Brewery (Rogue), Eugene, OR on 09/06/2008. Thought this was a fantastic Scotch Ale, although I do generally really like the style. Big and malty, with dates and chewy malt, and a little bitter hop presence.

Issaquah Arlens Contraband IPA
Draught @ Rogue Ales Issaquah Brewhouse. Pours a clear amber copper colour with a white head. Nose has mix of a big malty sweet notes. Flavour is upfront malts with a moderate hop bitterness. Something about that malt character just isn’t doing it for me.

Issaquah Ménage À Frog
Draught @ Rogue Ales Issaquah Brewhouse. Pours a clear pale golden colour with a thin white head. Nose is lightly Belgian yeast and those sweet Belgian sugars. Flavour is simliar but I feel the addition of Pilsner malt is causing this out of place bitterness that’s taking away from the Belgian ingredients.

Went with proper glassware on this and am feeling better about the Weizen than I know I would have if I’d gone with the Issaquah-branded tumbler in my glassware cabinet. Cracking the cap and pouring the beer, I find the liquid a molasses-pineapple hue under a thin, soapy, white foam. The aroma is nutmeg, coriander and sweet dough, although I find something akin to green apple wood underneath it all. I sip at the glass and discover the flavors are a clone of the aroma excepting the presence of that orange peel laying itself out across the inside of my cheeks and landing on the back of my tongue. It wasn’t there for me in the aroma, but blammm! Right there now. The beer is a bit flat in the glass, and that’s to be expected, but it’s still quite lively on each sip. I’m actually enjoying it more than I thought I would, considering the rating. The deeply cloudy brew has a lightweight body, a bit oily on my tongue, and very pleasant and demure in its finish. This is a summer beer...something that I would find amazing after a long day working in the garden, but it’s not an everyday go-to. I do know one home brewer that killed a recipe very similar to this. I wonder what he would think of it?

On cask at Washington Brewers Cask Festival, pours a cloudy blonde with a large white head. Nose brings out zesty citrus, wheat, and a soft tartness. Flavour is tart, with zesty citrus, medium tartness and wheat. Well-balanced with a lovely tartness. Very good.

Issaquah Arlens Contraband IPA
Draft pour at the Issaquah brew house. Listed simply as Issaquah Brewhouse Contraband. Pours a dark copper color with a ton of head and lace. Over the top sweet malt aroma. Super sweet. Flavor still sweet, but much less intense. Flavorful. Nice hop presence. I guess this was brewed specially for the 3 pubs, but I’m glad I could try it here. Overall a good IPA.

Issaquah White Frog Ale
On tap and poured into a sampler glass. Bright coriander and orange zest come through on this effervescent, light pale, hazy beer. It’s topped by a medium, white, fluffy-creamy ring and it leaves behind a dense, medium sheet lace. The taste is a medium sweetness and v ery light spice bitterness. It’s light bodied and somewhat oily thin with a fizzy, light body. Citrus notes of lemon and orange come through on the palate with a spice finish that lingers lightly on the palate.

Issaquah Ménage À Cherry
"found this rarity at the SF Rogue Aleshouse. Pours a dark amber/murky ornage in color. smells slightly sour, grainy and a hint of spice and cherry. tastes of mediocre belgian yeast with some cherry flavoring thrown in. I’ve been on a cherry kick lately, but this was not what i was looking for. I have a bottle of the Menage Frog that this was based on, and I hope it’s a little better. reminds me of hybrid of a SA Cherry Wheat & Cranberry Lambic."

"wow, the ratings for this one are all over the place. Surprisingly, i’m going to be closer to the top on this one - i thought it was a very tasty beer. based on the lackluster Menage Cherry Frog (2.6) that was based on this brew, i wasn’t expecting much from this one, but i’d dropped $14 on a 750 at the SF Rogue Aleshouse before having the cherry. Well, I think the cherry substantially took away from the flavor of the original brew. the aroma was a touch boozy, but had sweet malt and belgian yeast and spices, alongside a fruity character. the feel was great. slightly thick, but not cloyingly so-went down smooth. the flavor was a fairly complex sweet mix of malt, yeast, bubblegum, candy, and subtle belgian spices. nice finish and nice beer. well done."

Issaquah White Frog Ale
Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a hazy burnt yellow to orange color with a one finger soft white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing speckling the sides of the glass. The smell had a decent coriander to cardamom to clove up front. A light refreshing sweet banana and orange with a light lemon enlivens my nose. The taste was mainly sweet with a nice spice from the previously noted spices. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there and decent for the style and for me. Sharp enough but refreshing as well. Orange - like and appealingly slightly spicy aftertaste and dry finish. Overall, good witbier I would have again.

Issaquah Pumpkin Frog
On tap at Issaquah Brewhouse. Pours a clear orangish Amber color with a medium white head that leaves light lacing smells of bread, pumpkin and Belgian yeast. Taste of all the same things in the smell with light detection of spices. Mouthfeel is slick and chewy with great carbonation. Overall pretty different from most other pumpkin ales with the use of Belgian yeast and you can really taste the pumpkin which is really nice. Not overly sliced like a lot of pumpkin ales.

750 ml bottle from aprox 2007 deep golden color no head caramels soft and sweet aroma and flavor. Smooth almost buttery palette especially as it warmed a bit. Easy on the Belgian spice notes but smooth and soft. Probably from the long aging in my garage fridge.

Bottle:   Darker straw, very orangy, hazy, moderate frothy white head, spotty lacing.   Sweet bready nose, slight melon, a touch of floral notes.   Sweet and smooth bready start, a bit yeasty, clean, light melon and citrus notes.   Apples you say?   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Mealy finish.   Typical American Tripel, perhaps a bit more fruity.   Clean too!

Bought this on a whim because the Issaquah Brewery is down the street. Surprisingly good. Belgian style white ale in flavor, with nice almost Christmas ale-type spices complimenting the malt perfectly. Quite light, and clocks in as a session in the low 5% range. Recommended; solid B+. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Issaquah Arlens Contraband IPA
On tap handle called Contraband XXXIIPA. Copper-tanned body with decent head. Pungent, grapefruity and leafy co-humulone nose. Lovely blend of musky summer air and piquant grapefruit with a pinch of grass. The body is more grassy and bitter. Not as leafy, but some grapefruit still evident. Slight metallic bitter finish. Solid overall.

Draught at Rogue Ales - Brewer’s on the Bay. From notes. Clear and sharp. Belgian-style stuff. Lots of candi sugar. Yeasty and spicy. Like a sharper, spicier version of Duvel? I get the feeling that this one is a lot better fresh than in bottles.

On tap, pours a golden yellow color with hardly any head and no lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, spices, banana, dough. Tastes of all the same things in the nose. Mouthfeel is medium with hardly any carbonation. Just an average Belgian tripel here, kind of disappointed by the appearance and mouthfeel. Everything else was good though.
