3.1 Pints Pub Dark Star Ale Clear brown appearance with a beige head. Aroma of roasted grain, mild bready notes and light hops. Similar flavor, malty, nutty and mildly sweet with light bitterness. Thin body with a slight dry finish. OK. Saturday, February 1, 2020

1.9 Pints Pub Black Ajax Stout Served on nitro, black pour with a lovely cascading creamy light beige head. Roasted black malt and a touch of smokey cocoa on the nose with a faint whisper of soy sauce. Weird, acrid earthy flavor of roast black malt, an odd lightly sour twang that’s got a hint of mossy or peat undertones with a muddled roast malt smokey finish. Monday, March 6, 2017

3 Pints Pub Alchemy ESB Clear rich amber poured on nitro that retains a smooth sticky creamy ivory head. Nutty slightly toasty English malt aroma. Smooth palate with a nice fluffy roundness that’s a touch light. Classic pub ale flavors of gentle toast and gentle earthy biscuit malt with a very subtle creamy ale-fruity ester. Light-ish and bland, but a classic offering that’s so completely British and pub-oriented. Monday, February 27, 2017

2.8 Pints Pub Dark Star Ale Old rating. Cask pour. Brown color. Nutty, dry, toast, hints of fruit. Really thin for a cask conditioned brown. Meh. Saturday, April 25, 2015

2 Pints Pub Idyll Weiss Pale hazy straw like the color of a light berlinerweisse, with a lush rocky white head. Citrus forward nose that’s also just pure funky, like the Seattle fish market. Thankfully the flavor is much better, though with not much body behind it it’s kinda hard to have a foul flavor. There’s some generic malted wheat and Pilsner grains, clovey German yeast notes and a quiet wheaty citrusy finish. Sunday, November 16, 2014

3.3 Pints Pub Bitchcraft Blonde Ale Poured on nitro into a Frozen Weiss glass, so it was understandably slightly cloudy golden under a generous creamy head. Nice blonde ale aroma with light melon and fruity tones with a little golden toast and pear. Smooth glossy flavor with some toast and dough with some fruity belgianish yeast esters and a wee touch of hop spice. Pretty mellow body but with a surprisingly charming flavor Sunday, November 16, 2014

3.6 Pints Pub Dark Star Ale 10 oz from cask at the brewpub. Pours near still and dark brown in color. Aroma is malty and a little nutty. There are hints at berries and cacao and leather. Palate is pretty decent. It’s a good beer for a cold day. The flavor is warming with hints at earth, leather and dark fruit. There’s an occasional tartness that seems a little out of place. Decent. 2.9 Pints Pub Airedale Pale Ale Cloudy woody copper with an overall sorta ’brown’ hue. Creamy medium white head, almost like it was a nitro pour. Nose of dusty earthy toffee and a bit of grassy hop acidity. Flavor is like toasted cracker and dusty toffee malt, with an old-world hoppy nip at the finish. Overall really dusty and malty. 3.6 Pints Pub Dark Star Ale Draft at source. Deep brown. Nose is of lightly roasted and toasted malt, fruity and tart. Some nice fruity "live" ester character with a even roast and mild hop finish. Low carbonation and serving temperature really made this one pop. Wednesday, September 12, 2012

3.3 Pints Pub Airedale Pale Ale Draft at source. Deep red almost brown. Toasted malt and almost a weird vanilla-like oak aroma? Flavor is a deeply toasted malt with mild caramel and a nice dry, English hop finish. Nice English character. Wednesday, September 12, 2012

2.8 Pints Pub Czechmate Pilsner Slightly hazy blonde gold with a thin foamy white head. Funny smell of earthy blonde malts and...pear? Dusty apple? Something smells very non-pilsner here, but at least it’s different in a good way. The taste has a slightly crisp and dusty apple tone like in the aroma, a touch of something else like sweet pear, and that same old pilsner-lager blonde cereal/biscuit flavor. Kinda watery but overall kinda sweet. Monday, August 20, 2012

3.1 Pints Pub Idyll Weiss Pour on tap at the brewpub...into a frosted glass. Very hazy straw yellow with thin white head, aroma brought sweet banana, clove, and fruity grape and pear, can tell they used the Weihenstephan yeast, with some hints of wet grain, biscuit and bready notes. Taste is fairly sweet but more wet grain, slight hints of banana, clove and biscuit, finishing fairly sweet, dry. Just ok. Monday, August 6, 2012

2.7 Pints Pub Lancer India Pale Ale Pour on tap at the brewpub, dark orange with white head, aroma brought notes of cardboard, acidic and butter, some slight earth, grass and caramel in there, odd. Taste is not much better, some buttery diacetyl, some acidic and stale malts, touch of caramel, some herbal note. Sunday, August 5, 2012

2.5 Pints Pub Phonebox Amber Clear light amber with a creamy thin white head, very laceful. Aroma of toffee and mineral water with a thinly veiled English noble hop presence. Taste is pretty toffee malty but not terribly sweet. Almost like its balanced itself with mineral water or something. Kinda butterscotch tone on the middle with a creamy malty biscuit tone on the finish. Monday, April 9, 2012

2.7 Pints Pub Dark Star Ale Hazy brilliant burnt copper, but with no head. Aroma is kinda dank with some chewy dark toffee, a bit of dark vinegar, a touch of apple, and a subtle hoppy bitteness. Body a little too thin and lacking carbonation, though it is a cask ale...roasted toffee malty start, a little burnt malt, with a slightly dry hopped finish, slightly bitter. Monday, April 9, 2012

2.9 Pints Pub Lancer India Pale Ale Clear amber with not much head. Pretty hoppy aroma for a British ale, though not American style. Grassy nose with some sharp lemon rind notes over a pale toffee undertone. Taste is pretty balanced between soft citric hop tones, mild bitterness, and a smooth malty undertone. Nicely assertive, yet balanced, although the body was a little thin. Also not carbonate enough, but I can forgive that, since it’s an authentic cask ale Monday, April 9, 2012

2.3 Pints Pub Lancer India Pale Ale Well yes. Uncarbonated on handpull at the Pints Pub itself. Hazy but definitely not sour. Having been impressed by the Dark Star, this one was just odd. I kept getting ginger and a dab of detergent, though not entirely in a bad way. The Brits have yet to work out how to revive authentic British IPA but when they decide this won’t be it. 3.7 Pints Pub Dark Star Ale If this beer was brewed in Britain and sold in pubs it would become a classic. All the features of a British ’real ale’ in a single mug, good and bad. Intense caramel nose supports the idea of a brown ale, the dryness in north of England but the English hopping is more assertive than most in its spiitual homeland. Wednesday, September 28, 2011

3.2 Pints Pub Alchemy ESB Nitro at the pub - served way too effing cold - a decent, sessionable esb - clean and light-bodied, with some bready maltiness through the middle - malts become drier and more crackery as the earthy bitterness sets in for the finish - finish is lingering toasted bread and bitterness - decent. Sunday, August 29, 2010

2 Pints Pub Lancer India Pale Ale The bartenders make sure to let people know that this is a british style ipa, but there is a difference between a british style beer and a crappy beer - this beer was full-on sour, though not evidently infected, just sour - it tasted like oaky grapefruit juice, with an intensely bitter finish - I think this cask has been sitting around for a while - experiences like this are why most Americans think cask ale is crap Sunday, August 29, 2010

3.4 Pints Pub Dark Star Ale Cask at the brewpub - brown ale? - I would have guessed english strong - fairly strong roast, some woody/barrel character, light bits of treacle, some plum and fig, a touch of tartness - a light bit of diacetyl - I quite enjoyed it. Thursday, June 10, 2010

4.8 Pints Pub Dark Star Ale I bet I drank 20 pints of this beer in three nights. You think I’m joking but not a chance in hell. This beer has it all, sweet malty caramel nuttiness with hint of citrus and fruit underlining the yeasty after taste. You drink this beer and you drink it often...there’s no reason not to! 4.8 Pints Pub Alchemy ESB Very creamy with a nice full body, nice thick malt flavor with the beloved hefe flavor just lurking around the after taste.
