Maui Brewing Kula Pumpkin Ale 3
Draft at Maui Brewing in Kihei. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel, cookie), with notes of nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, etc. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately to heavily bitter, spicy. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The spices aren’t tooooo overdone, but they are certainly assertive, perhaps mostly in the aftertaste. A reasonable, drinkable version.

Maui Brewing Crystal Wheat 3.4
Draft at Maui Brewing in Kihei. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is light to medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cracker), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers), with a light note of honey. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. This is probably the last thing on their vast tap menu that a beer geek would pick, and I am guilty myself (very close to that in my case, although the pumpkin beer and chili pepper beer are easily dead last). But it’s actually a pretty tasty rendition...nice floral hop nose, clean, and balanced. One of the more enjoyable beers from MBC, quite honestly.

Maui Brewing Pueo Pale Ale 3.3
Pint on tap at Beer Revolution in Edmonton pours a hazy golden color with a finger of white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus with some caramel and grains and some earthy tones. Taste is a citrus and earthy hop bitterness with a light fruity and caramel malty sweetness. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a nicely balanced pale ale with good blend of flavors.

Maui Brewing CoCoNut PorTeR 3.4
Can. Toasted coconut aroma with notes of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Pours deep brown with one finger of light brown head with excellent retention and no lacing. Starts with good toasted coconut flavors with a little bit of roasted malt. Finishes smooth but a little dry with some chocolate but mostly dominated by coffee and roasted malt. Pretty good.

Maui Brewing Big Swell IPA 3.7
Aroma from the can was like English malt with some earthy and floral hops, after the pour, though, it turned more towards dusty, dry carpet backing. Taste: each mouthful brings different aspects, but grapefruit and orange are constant. Also appearing: lime, toast, caramel, bread, toast, spearmint, salt, pepper, rye. Mouthfeel begins medium, finishes light, dry and slightly metallic. Very nice

Maui Brewing Doppel Shot Double Bock 4
Can shared during RBWG 2016. Pours clear reddish orange with a creamy white head. The nose holds fresh coffee, lightly toasted bread, hints of toffee. Medium sweet flavor with more rich coffee character, light espresso, earth, toasted caramel. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly warming, with some toasted cereal, light bitter earth, grain, more espresso and toffee. Really quite enjoyable stuff.

Maui Brewing CoCoNut PorTeR 3.3
A: Dark brown, almost black with a hint of red to it. Huge white/nougat coloured head. N: loads of coconut, milk chocolate, floral, green peppers, almond T: starts off with light coffee, sweet chocolate and coconut finish off with more espresso bitterness and a bit tart. Lots of coconut in the end and again a bit floral. O: It’s quite complex with many different spectre. Although it’s quite "watery", but it’s probably because I havent had a none imperial stout in quite a while. Decent beer even though I prefer lots of more depth to it.

Maui Brewing CoCoNut PorTeR 3.1
35.5cl can, served in Shaker glass. Dark brown colour with small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, licorice and caramel. The flvaour is the same, I was expecting to find some coconut presence but I don’t think they used much on this one. I wouldn’t have guessed. Nice roasted notes on the palate. Medium body, good carbonation. Despite the coconut issue, It’s still a decent Porter.

Maui Brewing Doppel Shot Double Bock 3.5
Can. Medium brassy gold, white head that lasts. Massive green, raw coffee character with underlying sweet pale malts, golden syrup notes in there. This won’t be for everyone, but I enjoyed it.

Maui Brewing Doppel Shot Double Bock 3.6
Sample at Nöjesguidens Ölmässa. Deep golden color with slightly off white head. Coffee aroma with hints of sweet malt, caramel and citrus. Coffee flavor with citrus, caramel and some dry paprika. A little bit odd but quite enjoyable. Wouldn’t call it a Doppelbock though. Dry finish.

Maui Brewing CoCoNut PorTeR 4
Big coconut on the first, when you smell in the can you could immage a fresh coconut milkshake. A lot of roasty malt, barley, suggestion of a sweet Milk chocolate for a really impressive aroma. Pour deepper brown to dark , flavour of chocolate, barley, little Kick of coffee. A lot of coconut, milkshake in the Afther taste, suggestion of cinammon. Silky texiture, medium body, very Long afthertaste

Maui Brewing Kihei Kölsch 3.5
Maui Brewing's Kihei Kölsch 5.2% I've gotta say my first impression is that this looks like a pretty kölsch-a matte gold with a soapy white head of foam. The aroma is sweet light crackery malts and lemons. Effervescent carbonation and light body with a dry finish. The taste is soda bread, bitter lemon hop notes and a dry bready finish. Maybe a bit too lemon forward but a cut above most US Kölschs I've had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Maui Brewing Doppel Shot Double Bock 3.3
12 oz can. From a supermarket in Honolulu, HI. Enjoyed at the HHOK18.
Clear deep golden color with a small white head. Vegetables, chili, coffee, jalapeño and ash in the aroma. Smoke, hops, mild bitterness and malt. Maui coffee has turned to chili in aroma and to smoke in flavor. Interesting. 8.2% nicely hidden. After all a nice surprise.

Panzerfaust
Maui Brewing Bikini Blonde Lager 2.5
355ml can from Club de Cervezas. Pours an unfiltered hazy yellow color with a small white head that diminishes quickly and laces small. Soft malty and hoppy aroma, well-balanced with notes of flowers, grains, baked bread, biscuit, cardboard and hay. Problem is that it’s very subdued, restrained. Not bad but too shy! Taste is mostly neutral with bready, grainy sweetness and scarce to no bitterness. Flavors of grain, bread, pumpkin and even sweet potato. A bit watery. Timid. Relatively clean, crisp taste. Medium carbonation. Lacks distinctive character by having either a stronger, heavier malty profile or greener hops. Overall an OK summer refreshment but nothing to write home about.

Maui Brewing Bikini Blonde Lager 2.8
Can at home. Aroma is grainy malt, straw, hint of fruits, light hoppy. A touch of honey. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Body is almost medium. I found it a bit on the sweet side. Simple but decent grainy Lager, it gets the job done.

Maui Brewing Ka’anapali Coffee Porter 3.4
Draft at Maui Brewing in Kahana. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is heavily malty (coffee, coffee, coffee, roasted grain, unsweetened chocolate). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A bit of a one-trick pony but the coffee character is quite nice...good infusion that’s not like old spent grounds or sour or unpleasant in any way. Pretty good flavor balance too, almost quaffable.

Maui Brewing Double Overhead IPA 3.2
Draft at Maui Brewing in Kihei. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, caramel), moderately hoppy (marijuana, grapefruit, melon, resin). Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium to full body, watery/velvety/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Fairly similar to the Mosaic Mo Betta, although this is a bit more west coasty in the hop aroma. Somehow MBC gets a fair amount of weed odor from their hop treatment; most of their draft pale ales / IPAs have it.

Maui Brewing Barefoot Brew 3.4
Draft at Maui Brewing in Kihei. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is light amber. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly moderately alcoholic. The honey is fairly obvious, which is nice; often it gets lost in fermentation. It’s not on the level of decadence of, say, Dupont Biere de Miel, but it’s nice.

Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, roasted grain, coffee), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of minerals and chalk. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Could stand a bit more bitterness but it’s a decent enough rendition. Nice mineral content. MBC brews are certainly better on tap at the source than in cans; still not quite high 3s quality, but solid and drinkable, some enjoyable.
