Barley Johns Breakfast of Champions Oatmeal Stout
Winterfest 2016. A solid beer, but I feel like it is nothing I have not had many times before. Well roasted grain, moderate coffee aroma and and flavor, making it bitter. the alcohol is higher than I expected, but it was hidden and I did not pick it up in the flavor or the aroma. Good coffee beer.

Barley Johns Across the Pond Barleywine
5 oz. pour, on tap at the brewpub in New Brighton, Minnesota. Consumed on 3-18-16. Bright, burnt orange to rust to copper. Nice color. Buttery, malty smell. Sweet taste with a lightly bitter finish. Too sweet for my tastes. Fruity Pebbles cereal and condensed milk. A bit juicy with a bit of spice. Improves on multiple sips. Medium body, lighter than I expected. Ultimately just too sweet.

Barley Johns Stockyard IPA
5 oz. pour, on tap at the brewpub in New Brighton, Minnesota. Consumed on 3-18-16. Medium to dark amber. Beige head. Nice color of the liquid. Malty, buttery aroma. Toffee and biscuit scents. Smells a bit fishy, unfortunately. Bitter flavor. On the sweet side for the style in its maltiness. Light to medium body. Unremarkable palate effects. Not bad but not good overall.

Growler shared during RBWG - many thanks to jackl. Pours deep black-brown with a creamy beige head. Big dark malt nose, some cocoa, scorched earth, raisins, burnt caramel. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with rich dark chocolate, some gooey dark fruits, raisins, plums, figs, mild scorched earth bitterness, full bodied, oily and lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, plenty of luxurious chocolate, further rich dark fruits, mild balancing bitterness. Great stuff.

Growler shared at hotel lobby fart share @ RBWG 2016. Opaque black liquid with small light tan head. Aroma of raw sugar, licorice, raisins, bourbon, chocolate and light coffee. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, raisins, bourbon and chocolate. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Nice, but not a 100/100 beer. Bit too boozy.

Barley Johns The Dark Knight (Returns)
750ml wide mouth growler. Unfortunately seems flat. Pours a dark brown black with a slight light brown head that dissipated nearly immediately. Aromas of candied dark fruits, tobacco, chocolate, ash/charcoal. Vanilla, caramel. Pretty darn complex beer. Taste is fairly rounded out but with a bit of an alcohol burn to it. Beer has a bunch of depth to it.

Keg @ Barley Johns. Deep brown with a tiny tan head. Nose is very rich. Huge accents of dark chocolate. Sweet bourbon. Vanilla and some woody, boozy character. Ashy. Flavor is fat, outsized, but somehow pretty balanced. Rocky road fudge offset by toasty wood. Mild dark fruit skin. Very oily and thick. Fun, luxurious stuff.

Barley Johns Bruegel de Blonde
Half pint (10 oz) draft at the brewpub in New Brighton, Minnesota. The pour is orange copper, slight haze, with not much of an off white head. The aroma is Belgian yeast, herbal and clove along with a softly sweet malt. The taste is super clean straw, grass, light sweet malt and the Belgian yeast notes carrying all of it. The palate is medium bodied with soft natural carbonation and the lingering yeast flavor. Really well executed.

Barley Johns Pils the Void
On tap at brewpub pours a hazy orange/golden with a small white head. Sweet bready aroma, light lager yeast, very light hops. Taste of sweet caramel bready malts, pils yeast, more sweetness, with faint hints of hops. Too sweet for me, lacking any distinct hop aroma or flavor. Labeled as a pre-prohibition Pilsner, tastes like a German Macro.
