"Just called Oharas Stout, but I think this is it. Didnít do anything special for me. Poured on nitro, it was a little too thin to stand up to it. OK, all the usual suspects, just not anything that great."

OHaras Sids Irish Stout
Very nice stout. Pleasant aromas of coffee that remind you of a fresh ice coffee in Dotonbori in a hot Summer. Perfect black colour with thick hazelnut foam that doesn't last very long however. Very tasty beer with strong flavours of coffee. Acidic and metallic after taste that ruins the experience a bit. Overall: a keeper but not as great a St. Ambroise stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Jesus, what a nice smell of fruit garden. This really calls you for a drink. The taste maybe a bit disappointing, althouhg fruity but also a bit ashtray in it. In any case quality beer and yes I would very much like to spend a night in a pub with my girl friend sipping this.

Bottle. Pours dark, hazy brown, with a tan, creamy head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and spice. Full body with an outrageously smooth finish. Much better than it has any right to be. Very decent stout.

OHaras IPA
Not bad for the beginners in the IPA world. Thereís really not much to say...itís not a top class beer, but works in giving a slight idea of what an IPA is. I like this one but, at similar level, I prefer the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Itís much more ilustrative.

On tap at Dublins irish pub downtown Los angeles. Pours out a rich dark brown with a little head. Aromas of toasted malts ints of coffee and nutmeg. Tastes somewhat simple of roasted malts with a slight smoky palate. No hop presence A good but unexceptional brew. Finishes short.

Comes out of the tap a dark opaque sable with a very fine bubbled, velvety tan head. Smoky, malty aroma has hints of caramel and licorice. Rich, pleasing flavor is malty, nutty and smoky and contains hints of licorice and burnt caramel. Texture is velvety smooth and somewhat woody. Recommended.

Pours auburn brown with a nice copper/red color when held to the light. About a 1/2 inch head that diminishes quickly with minimal lacing. Slight fruity, raisin aroma. Mild bisquit malt and candi sugar flavor. Definite yet mild Belgian yeast character to both aroma and flavor. Nice mouthfeel, medium body, slightly sticky and mildly carbonated. A nice beer. Serving type: growler

OHaras IPA
Agree with last poster, this is most atypical of a true IPA. Pours amber with decent enough head, which endured. Not much of an aroma, certainly not the hoppiness you might expect of an IPA, though quite smooth and dry on the palate. A rather curious one overall.

OHaras Sids Irish Stout
Pours a nice healthy black color topped by a quarter inch or so of cream colored foam. Sparse head retention and lacing. Mild aroma of roasted grain. The flavor is more prominent than the aroma - mild roasted grain with a hint of coffee. It is quite tasty and dry in the finish. Body on the light side, as is the carbonation, however I think it is a fair representation of the style. Nothing flashy, but tasty enough and quite drinkable.

OHaras Raspberry Wheat
Pours a clear pale reddish copper orange color, with a couple inches of head that completely disappears very quickly. Decent inital raspberry aroma but fleeting. Initial sip is a non-descript fruit taste, sweet but not really flavorful. Lightly carbonated, thin and watery beer - its not much of a wheat beer at all. Faint artificial sweetener in the aftertaste. Not recommended.

OHaras Quarry Rock Red
the beer is a beautiful deep copper, very clear, and moderately effervescent. There is about half an inch of sudsy white foam, which sticks around for a while, and provides nice lacing throughout. Very mild aroma - lightly malty, thatís it. The first couple sips were underwhelming. But after a few sips, I detected a bit of caramel malt. The write-up at the brewpub insists that there is roasted malt in there too. Well, I detect an exceptionally mild dry malt - is that it? A touch of hops in the finish for balance. Little are needed, little are provided. Somewhere between light and medium body, mildly carbonated.

OHaras Pantown Pale Ale
Pours a clear light gold, topped by an inch of very frothy soap-sudsy white foam. Good head retention, excellent lacing. Noticeable citrus hops in the aroma - not bad at all. Flavor - fresh citrus hops and caramel malt. No real complaints from me, except that they could have been a bit bolder. Body on the light side, but excellent carbonation that compliments the hops. Citrus and a hint of pine hops in the aftertaste. Letís call it a dumbed-down version of a West Coast pale ale. Bump up the body a little, and this would be a very nice beer indeed.

OHaras Octoberfest
Pours a clear light copper amber with two inches of creamy near-white foam. Decent head retention, adequate lacing. Lightly toasted malt in the aroma. The flavor is mainly toasted malt that overshadows the caramel malt at first. There is a faint fruitiness and dry toasted malt in the finish. While drinking the second pint, I no longer find the caramel malt to be overshadowed, in fact it tastes pretty good. Almost medium bodied with solid carbonation.

OHaras Winter Lager
Pours a clear cola-brown, with nice ruby red highlights. The inch or so of tan foam quickly condensed to 1/8". I smell a faint cinnamon sugar aroma. The taste is spicy up front, followed by a gentle hoppiness. I taste sweet malt, a hint of vanilla, and brown sugar. There is a fruity sweetness like subdued date or fig, somewhat like an herbal tea. Unfortunately, the initial flavors diminish too quickly. Then there is a slight candi sugar taste, with some dry spice like nutmeg or cinnamon. It finishes quite dry, with a touch of grain and roasted malt. The texture of the beer is smooth, but I would have liked more carbonation

OHaras German Pilsner
Pours a clear gold, topped by an inch of soft white foam. Pretty good head retention, a bit of lacing. Mild aroma, nothing flashy, nothing stands out. Slightly sweet toasted malt flavor blends nicely with a smooth grassy/floral hopping. Light to medium body, soft but ample carbonation. The finish remains on the sweet side, but not sugary or artificial. Good natured, easy drinking.

OHaras Maifest
Pours a clear light golden color with a thin cap of foam. Minimal lacing. Barely detectable sweetish honey aroma. The flavors were all short-lived. It started with a powdered sugary sweetness, and was followed by a mild sweet apricot fruitiness. A mild hop tang, but no hop bitterness, showed up briefly in the finish. The aftertaste was a bit more powdered sugar. Light body, soft carbonation. An ok beer but on the sweet and mild side.

OHaras IPA
Well, they called it an IPA at the pub when I bought it, so an IPA it is for purposes of the review. Doesnít measure up as an IPA (even a mild English IPA) in my book, unfortunately. Pours a nice clear copper color, almost no head, though well carbonated. Pretty to look at, but the complete lack of foam cost it some points. Absolutely no aroma. Took several sips, smelled it again. And again. Still no aroma at all. Some sweetness in the malt department, though thin in body. A slightly tangy hops flavor that lacks character. The overall maltiness and overall hoppiness do not seem out of line, but they do not seem to compliment each other, either. An OK session beer, but like I said, not an IPA in my mind. Call it an ESB. Call it an amber ale.

OHaras Dubbel Trouble
The beer is a beautifully clear auburn brown that really shows off some reddish copper color when held up to the light. About half an inch of light tan foam recedes to a thin ring in a minute or so, but the etching at the bottom of the Chimay glass keeps a steady stream of tiny bubbles slowly rising to the surface. Scant lacing. Aroma of candied fruit and a little bit of bread. I like the flavor - toasted and biscuit malt, light candi sugar, and a tangy fruitines that reminds me a little of gooseberry. A hint of black tea tannin in the finish and into the aftertaste. Medium body, gentle carbonation, quite a pleasant beer.

OHaras IPV (Imperial Vanilla Porter)
Pours a deep black, topped by a thin film of cream colored foam. Slight head retention, scant lacing. Mild roast in the aroma. Bolder flavors of roasted chocolate malt, a bit of coffee, and licorice towards the finish. Mild fresh vanilla in the aftertaste. Smooth body, moderate carbonation. The alcohol is hidden. Made with British Pale malt, roasted malt, Fuggles hops, and aged with fresh vanilla beans.

OHaras Pantown Pale Ale
Sampled draught at the Autumn Brew Review in Minneapolis, October 7 2006. Light amber with little head and a touch of lacing....faintly fruity, PNW-hopped aroma, fresh but very light and indistinct....clean and refreshing body, moderately fruity and moderately dry towards the finish, but metallic traces near the finish seriously hurt this beer for me....overall, rather dull.

Brown colour with hints of red/amber. There is only a head on this one when it is poured straight into the glass, opposed to down the side. After being poured, the thick cap of tannish head quickly dissolves into nothingness. This has a thicker almost syruppy apperance to it. However, Itís not that thick in the mouth. Nutty aroma with some bready nites, I guess that would make it biscotti like. The taste is a bit of caramel malts and what feels kind of like some brown malts. Iím surprised that this actually tastes a lot like the brown ale I made, without the over bearing hop flavour I had in mine. There really isnít a whole lot of hops in this period. I thought this was pretty good, but I have my sights set on some of there other seasonal brews.

Growler poured to the very top, good job, guys. Sweet caramel malt spills immediately from the aroma...on further inspection, wide-open, earthy, dark fruits, raisins, nuts, nice...sweet and lovely... Deep brown color, with burgundy highlights, with nice, if short -lived, fizzy brown head. Taste: sweetness again, big, rich malt, caramel and mellow fruit, light spice, ...and absolutely delcious. Some grit in the texture, some give and play, a tasty dance on the tongue. Fullish body, sweet, fruity finish...solid. Might lack a touch of complexity, but itís simplicity is reward enough, if the flavor is this fine. An easy-drinking dubbel, impossible to stop drinking it. I like this quite a lot, itís a respectable dubbel, and Iím happy that the first beer Iíve reviewed out of the city of St. Cloud, MN is such a gutsy and tasty one.
