3.1 Hal and Mals Mundts Scottish Ale Dark mahogany body, but served with no head. Malty aroma with dark chocolate and roast. Diacetyl? 3.4 Hal and Mals Sweet Potato Queen The star of the bunch. I don’t know if this is brewed with actual sweet potatoes, but there’s something lurking there with the sweet caramel and brown sugar malts that tastes like a sweet potato (and I ate some sweet potato chips the next day to make sure that was what I was tasting). There’s also a good bit of spice making this taste a lot like a decent pumpkin ale. I had three or so of these during trivia, so I’d have to say I liked it. 3.4 Hal and Mals Mundts Scottish Ale My favorite brew from this pub. Nice, sweet cocoa and smokey aroma. Dark whiskey colored, caramel head. Prevalent smoked peat flavor, lightly sweet with very light hopping. Light bodied, session-style mouth with lightly tart smokey finish. In the spirit of Belhaven Scottish. Quite good. 3.3 Hal and Mals Trophy Buck Stout Great mocha and cream aroma, unfortunately the beer didn't deliver what the smell promised. Flat, milky palate that needs more CO2 or hops or bitter malt or something. Pitch with camel head. Lactose sweet and only moderately bitter. 3.8 Hal and Mals Trophy Buck Stout Nice flavor, very similar to Guinness. Think and chocolatey. Will drink again. Even better this time. A more complex and thicker chocolatey flavor.
