Very clear, pale yellow, white head. Melon, fruits, light resin. Very bitter, very dry. Light body, quite a lot of carbonation. Residual hop flavor on the tongue. Long finish, very long for a lager. Quite nice.

Shortís Snake Juice
On tap at Crafty Cow in Oconomowoc. Yellowish orange pour with an off-white head. Aroma has nice coffee grounds and lactose. Solidly hoppy. Taste follows; the coffee is more cafe au lait, and the hops are mostly grapefruity. More sweet than bitter. Tasty enough. Still so incongruous to see the yellow color and taste sweet coffee. 13.8

6 day old Bottle from Joe, pours a clear orange color with medium white head. Smell is caramel, fake cat cheese, and heavy heavy booze. Flavor is sugar candy, heat, honey, orange resin, and bitter ash. This is not pleasantly hopped and has a shitty malt background. The fuck?

This stuff is okay but Iím not crazy for the hop character. Itís sort of woody and harsh. This is a cloudy orange blond beer w/ a fairly thick head of mixed bubbles. Along w/ the woody notes, thereís some floral elements and a bit of citrus w/ a tinge of a savory quality as well. This is a touch on the sweet side w/ moderate carbonation. The bitterness in the finish is not that strong but itís slightly unpleasant and earthy all the same. I just canít get into this one.

Blindfolded, I think raspberry would be the only fruit I could pick out in this but thatís okay; I like raspberries fine. This is sort of a deep orange color w/ maybe a hint of red to it w/ a big, fairly creamy head. The raspberry hits me up front but isnít over-the-top or anything, allowing for a good bit of cookie-like malt character to come out as well. This is full bodied and creamy w/o being sweet or heavy feeling. Combined w/ a touch of acidity from the fruity and it makes for a nice, refreshing experience. It is kind of annoying they say this is for "ladies" since I donít see why anyone canít enjoy a nice fruit beer but, say what you will, I think Shorts nailed exactly what they were going for on this one.

Shortís Blanco Suave
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/14/2016. Pours lightly hazy golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of lemon, lime, pear, apple, coriander, orange peel, pepper, clove, light banana, wheat, cracker, agave, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, lime, pear, apple, coriander, orange peel, pepper, clove, light banana, wheat, cracker, agave, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness with slight fruit tartness/wheat tang on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, pear, apple, coriander, orange peel, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, agave, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol as expected of 6.6%. Overall this is a very nice witbier. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and quite refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Citrus aromas are present though not as prominent as you might think from the added lemon and orange zest. Coriander and pepper are clear though again not overwhelming. Not much malt, just a touch of biscuit. Color is a pale yellow with a fairly good-sized white head. Taste is peppery, with light to medium bitterness and fairly dry sweetness. The palate is light bodied, just a bit thin, perhaps just slightly lively carbonation and a long finish that starts with just a light hint of sweetness and then goes into a long peppery finish. Overall while it is not might favorite style, itís not bad. The lemon/orange zest is restrained; the pepper and coriander start slow but come more to the fore and stay there as you continue to drink. Interesting.

Bottle. Pours a clear light copper with a white head. Aromas of pine, citrus and toffee. Buttery rich toffee flavors, pine needles, brown sugar, bready tones and resiny hops. Well balanced. Rich. Definitely not a hop bomb, but assertively hoppy. Slightly oily mouth feel. Very nice.

Shortís Psychedelic Cat Grass
From notes. Had this on tap at the 2016 MGB Summer Beer Fest. The pour is a golden amber color with a thick white head that slowly falls down. The aroma is pretty good. There is a lot of tropical fruit and a pretty resounding resinous bitterness. I like the fruitiness and the bitterness, a lot. There is a lighter grassy hop on the back end, and it is nicely balanced. The flavor is where the fruitiness really takes over, and I love it. The dry grassy hops just offer a lovely fruit addition and there is a light malt on the finish. This thing is pretty good. There is no alcohol for a 7+% IPA. The mouth feel is a little light with a sharper carbonation than I think it should have. The aftertaste is lingeringly juicy and lovely with a bright bitterness and juicy hop. This is a win.

Shortís Compression
From notes. Had this on tap at the 2016 MGB Summer Beer Fest. The pour is a dark brown with a thin white head that settles as a ring with a lot of lacing. This is really interesting. The aroma is great. There is a lot of fruitiness to it, a lot of wine, and a light roast from the stout. Itís incredibly well balanced and meshes well for something like this. The flavors are more wine barrel focused. There is a good bit of woodiness and a light fruitiness. The stout kind of fades, all except a light roast, and lets the other pieces shine. Itís really complex. The mouth feel is light and crisp with a bright carbonation and a sharp and tart fruitiness to it that just kinder and slowly fades to bitter roast. Holy hell this has a lot going on.

Shortís Catís Pajamas
From notes. Had this on tap at the 2016 MGB Summer Beer Fest. The pour is a darker golden yellow color with a thicker off white head that falls to a dense cap. The aroma is very citrusy. There is a lot happening. Sweet, bitter, lightly tart citrus and rind, itís just a blend. The flavor is a little more balanced and good. There is a nice blood orange juice and light guava to it in front of the hops and bitter citrus rinds. There is a hint of resin and a light malt and spice. The mouth feel is a little heavy, but has a nice bright carbonation and a lingeringly bitter and juicy citrus on the finish. This is a tasty brew.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate citrus, apricot, mango, and light moderate dank notes. It pours a mostly transparent golden-orange with a touch of haze. It has a one finger white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker soapy ring. There is some dotted lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate citrus, apricot, mango, and a hint of candied orange. The finish has moderate grapefruit, light orange peel, and dank hops. Itís light-medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, this is one of the better beers Iíve had from Shortís in quite some time.

Pours crystal clear golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Aromas of huge tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, mango, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic balance and complexity of bright/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, mango, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Shortís Psychedelic Cat Grass
Bottled 19 hours ago. Pours a hazy orange golden with a decent sized eggshell head that settles to a thinner film and leaves tons of spots and wavy clumps of lace. Lots of hop aromatics as expected, with plenty of floral and resiny notes, wafts of lilac and pollen, fleshy pit fruit, zesty citrus (tangerine, lemon, lime even), underlying musky dank notes, and the lightest toasted crackery malt. Somewhat sweet, quite bitter. Medium bodied, fairly active, very oily, finishing quite dry with hop oil bitterness. A really enjoyable IPA, and a cool experience, with or without the 3D glasses. Great execution all around of a pretty wild idea. And the end result is delicious.

Shortís Key Lime Pie
Sampled in a glass that was poured from a bottle, there were some chunks (about the size of a gnat or a touch larger) of white stuff on top of the beer in the bottle before I popped the cap, the specks were still there on top after pouring the beer into the glass, it does not look good at this point, after I swirled the beer around a bit, the chunks were bigger, probably marshmallow in the beer, this beer was a medium dark orange with a little gold in the glass, there was some haze, the pour made a less than half finger white cover that receded quickly to a tiny ring at the edge of the glass with a quarter size island of tiny bubbles in the center, hardly any lacing at all, some sweetness I believe to be the milk sugar, light malt, a bit of bread and graham cracker, a faint citrus fruit but it does not resemble lime, faint orange, the flavors were sugar, bread malt with graham cracker, and some lime like citrus fruit, there was some fruit sour-tartness, there was a small back and forth of sweet and citrus sour-tart in the drink, a light mouth feel, no creaminess to it, there was average carbonation, I tried many bottles over the years, none of them were that great, the flavor was closer to being a key lime pie than the nose, the nose did not resemble key lime, I do not know why I keep buying this beer every few years, I guess I hope it comes closer to being what it was intended to be, but it doesnít, a disappointment of a drink.

Pour from a 12 oz can. Somewhat cloudy light amber, nice head that dissipates, light lacing. Aroma is weak - I get a little citrus and some faint grassy notes. Weak. Taste is great. A sort of cereal malt up front with emerging citrus and pine in the middle. Finish is an unabashed bitter - maybe thatís the dandelion notes - I should go outside and nibble on some leaves. But its a nice combination of malt and pretty aggressive hops with an above average palate, but the malt is pretty up front here for an APA.
