I had at the Phoenixville location. The sure reads: European amber lager. Medium bodied with a delicate aroma, didn?t sweetness and a clean, crisp finish. 4.4% ibu 22. My take: Honey is tasted. Nice light and fresh. Aroma is too light. Color is great deep red. Malts are balanced. Mouth is simple. Tap

Iron Hill Irish Dry Stout
On tap at North Wales, on nitro. Bitter burned stout with notes of diacetyl. Couldn’t finish. Cynical attempt to placate St. Patrick’s Day punters, who presumably wouldn’t know buttered popcorn as an off flavor or mind it if they did.

Iron Hill Old Ale
2012 Holiday vintage purchased 2 weeks ago. Poured a cloudy orangey-brown with an average foamy light beige head. Aroma is all malts, dry caramel, English toffee, raisin, dough, cardboard. Oxidation is almost overwhelming with warmth. Flavor is the same. Body is slick with bubbly carbonation. Meh not a fan.

750ml c&c bottle from Maple Shade. Poured a murky mud brown with a frothy off white head. Aroma is bad chocolate, peat, earth, berry skins, bad dough, paste, raisin, rotting banana. Flavor is the same as the aroma, lots of rotting banana, chocolate and yeast. Interesting beer.

Unfortunately, I have to review this from memory, but based on what I’ve got stored in my brain, this was a good beer. It was malty, but not strong, and it was a nice shade of red. I’d order it again.

I’m having a hard time remembering this beer, since it’s been a few years, but I do remember it having a pretty robust flavor and a rich color. I also remember enjoying it, so that’s good too.

Draft. A fine ale, but pales in comparison to the best of the breed, eg. Pumking. Relatively thin on flavor and mouthfeel. Very slightly sweet. Clean finish.

Tap at IH WC location. Enjoyed with family. Poured gold and two finger white head. I am enjoying. Malty citrus aroma, hops for sure, a bit of metallic funk, malt and soil, all keep it pretty light. Smooth character, not half that bad.

Iron Hill Pig Iron Porter
On tap at the Maple Shade brewpub. A brown, almost clear beer topped by a light beige head. The aroma has coffee, chocolate and roasted malts, quite balanced. There’s some bitterness and sweetness in the flavor, but it’s mostly roasted malts giving you chocolate and coffee. Smooth, dry and full to medium bodied and with a lasting finish. A nice beer, but more a brown ale than a porter I think. 150623

Iron Hill Vienna Red Lager
On tap at the brewpub. An amber colored beer, clear, and with a dense, white head. Caramel, some grass and a faint roasted note in the aroma. It’s soft, thin-bodied and with a decent bitterness, although rather low. Suits the beer though. There’s not too much flavor either. Some caramel maltyness and a light grassy, fruity hop flavor. Easy drinkable, but not ringing any of my bells. 150623

Iron Hill Light Lager
On tap at the brewpub. It’s a clear, pale golden beer topped by a small, dense, white head. Some lacing. Rather weak aroma, fruity, and with some maltyness and grass. It’s thin and soft on the palate, quite dry, with a decent bitterness. Generic fruityness and grass on a malty backdrop, all weak, just as in the flavor. A boring beer, but sort of quenching and refreshing. 150623

Iron Hill Pig Iron Porter
Well this is an impressive porter from an impressive northeast USA brew-pub chain that sadly does not seem to be expanding in the direction of South Carolina. For a recent lunch outing I had a very positive visit to Iron Hill; along with delicious food, I enjoyed this, their standard line-up porter. Poured a solid ruby brown color, good frothy head. Smelled strong and fresh of coffee and earthy hops, taste was likewise a well balanced tasty porter stronger on the coffee side of the porter spectrum, while featuring a malty body and subtle bitter hops. Some chocolate malt in the background. Finished clean and smooth, although the mouthfeel struck me as thinner and weak, but very drinkable. Only real disappointment was that this was the only beer I got to sample at Iron Hill, I hope to visit again and try more!

Maj 2014.
