Old Mill Red Goose
Aroma : Toasted sweet toffee maltiness, some light soft red fruits with a hint of earthy leaf mulch. Taste : Medium bodied, smoothish texture. Well balanced bitter-sweetness throughout from sweet toffee malts and bittering mulchy hops. Very similar to a Hobgoblin Ruby; but just a touch less rich. Decent though

Old Mill La Bolsa
Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival on the 4th October 2019. Cask, gravity dispense, 1/3 pint sampled. Dull black in colour with a pale tan head. Strong malty aroma with powerful black coffee to the fore. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts deliver a rich coffee base with strong mocha flavours mixed with thick chocolate ganache and liquorice. Cannot detect any hop resins in the aftertaste as coffee dominates. Finish is malty, smooth and rich with strong black coffee, Pontefract cake, burnt molasses and dark chocolate all combine to produce a complex Porter which tastes far stronger than the low 4.5% ABV suggests. Best session Porter of the festival.
