FACambridge	2.8 Felstar Entire Stout (from old notes-Chelmsford 2011 Summer Beer Festival): Aroma : Lots of dark chocolate maltiness, but roastiness is quite low. Hint of tart red fruits with a little fusty sulphurous & earthy note. Taste : As aroma. Low roasty bitterness balanced by a sweet fruitiness. Finish is lightly dry and a touch minerally. Palate is smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth and light malts, touches of caramel and toffee. A generic fruity mid, some ripe fruits. Light spice in the semi dry finish. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Some bitterish toffee in the thin malts. Light malt cream. Pronounced berry fruits, so much so I asked the brewer if fruit had been added but he said not. Cherry and strawberry and others! Light crispy finish. Pretty tasty bitter. Saturday, July 15, 2017

Scopey	3.5 Felstar Crix Forest Cask at GBBF 2016. It pours near black with a medium light tan head. The aroma is fresh, rather sweet, berry, fruit compote, plum and jam. The taste is smooth, rather fruity, Eccles cake, rocky road, syrupy cola, Vimto and cacao nibs with some peppery spice in the finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A touch sweet and fruity for me perhaps, but I can understand why this is a highly rated mild. Good example of style. Thursday, September 8, 2016

jjsint	3 Felstar Jet Black Lager Gravity cask at the 2016 Cambridge Beer Festival. As Black Lager, 5%. Not black, not even dark brown, but a respectable thinnish mid-brown. Nice natural carbonation, though. Some malt, black cherry, hazelnut and metal in the aroma, with the slightest afterthought of molasses. Taste is sweet and spicy, with a nore hoppy bitter finish. Idiosynkrasie	3.7 Felstar Crix Forest 500ml bottle. Almost black colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderatel ylacing, beige head. Chocolately malty and fruity hoppy aroma, notes of milk chocolate, red and blue berries, spicy, earthy hints of corresponding shrubs, a lactic touch of yoghurt combines with the fruitiness, additionally some roast on the malty side. Taste is minimally sweet chocolately malty, fruity hoppy, notes of raspberry and blueberry, a spicy, leafy, earthy touch of corresponding shrubs. Superbly balanced, very aromatic for its low abv. Medium sweet flavour, syrupy, with notes of cherry cough syrup, and doughy bread. Medium bodied, oily and chewy, with soft carbonation. The nose is warming, woody, varnish, brown bread, umami, spice, earthy toast and mild fruity sweetness.... classic English Strong. The taste is bitter-sweet, oily, toffee, fruit cake, raisin, toasted brown sugars, burnt treacle and alcohol heat with a dry, warming finish. Medium+ body, soft carbonation and sticky mouth-feel.
