SilkTork	2.5 Stiegl Columbus 1492 April 2024 Small, cute, green bottle with minimal residue. Unsure where I got this - it was tucked away in my collection. The hops are stale, and the condition is mostly flat, so it seems I've probably had it a while, as because it's pretty close to a lager in style, it's a not a beer that has aged well. Oh gosh, I just found the BBE date: 2019. Hmmm. is this an altbier? The brewery simply call it a pale ale, but that's a pretty vague term, and not one that is generally used by traditional Austrian breweries. I think this is kind of an altbier or Kolsch style beer. More altbier than Kolsch, but a beer that comes out of the lager brewing tradition. It's light and thin and dry like a lager. Meh. [2.5] Oct 2019. 330ml brown bottle, unfiltered, from BeerWulf. This presents as a hoppy and yeasty pale lager. I find it crude and overly bitter. Not my thing. Too dry and bitter and sombre. [2.4] July 2018. 330ml brown bottle, unfiltered, from BeerWulf, as part of the World Cup Beers package. 4.7% Steigl Columbus 1492. They call this a pale ale, and it's listed here on RateBeer as an American Pale Ale, and I can understand why, but this has a drier malt than an APA, and less of the citric hops. It's a bit of a blend of American and European beer cultures, and my feeling is that it tastes more European than American. I'd say this was closer to a Czech lager than an APA. Pours a hazy straw colour with yeast particles that sink to the bottom and a small, foamy, short lived, white head that leaves spotty lacing. Mild aroma of wheat malt, orange peel, Belgian yeast and floral hops. Sweet flavour of wheat malt, orange zest, lemon, Belgian yeast, coriander and floral hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Pours hazy mid yellow/gold with a white head, a light spicy edge, soft mouthfeel, wheaty and their is a little bit of a citrus edge. Nice twangy touch to this, it's good. Thursday, February 22, 2024

I'm not sure of the ingredients list, forgot to check but I suspect some gin type botanicals have made it into this very nice IPA, it's fruity, there is a little bitterness throughout, it is refreshing and a very tasty beer, like it. Nice aroma, a very good mix of floral, honey and also light malty elements. Fruity in the mouth with lots of honey, super soft mouthfeel, a little bit of a bite, it's a very good beer. Pours yolky yellow heading towards light orange with a large white head.There is both citrus and a little tropical fruit touch on the nose, however there is a hint of clove. Lovely clean hoppiness comes through in a nice combo with the wheaty underbelly, light prickly across the tongue, again a little citrussy, excellent beer Monday, February 5, 2024

Fin	3.7 Stiegl Hausbier Alm Rausch Bottle picked up from Stiegl Brewery Shop and consumed at home Saturday 27th January 2024 after a lovely loop hike from Bishofmais to Teufeltisch and back, listening to The Smile - Wall of Eyes and cooking Chicken, Pistachio and Black Pepper Curry with a Lime and Coriander Rice. Pours copper in colour with a large creamy bubble white head. A little caramel and biscuit on the nose, there is a freshness here but not convinced that I would have guessed pine. Pleasant sweetness, actually the resinous piney strains do come through on the tongue, there is a nice balance here the maltiness steadies the pine. Very nice. Sunday, January 28, 2024

Pours clear light amber with a head that swiftly departed and left no clue of its appearance.
