Sampled @ GBBF day 1. Clear yellow to light orange color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, a somewhat weird fruity note in there which dominates the aroma. Old leftover fruitpeel in the aroma. Tastes a bit better fortunately, but not one I’ll be drinking again I reckon.

500ml bottle: BBE Jul 15. Poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ vase shaped pint glass at home during a ’random tasting afternoon’ with myself on 10th Jan 15. Dull, but clear golden body with a flat, thin white scummy head. Not a lot of an aroma, mild hop traces but nothing worthy of note. The taste was also light in nature with mini hop flavours, again not a lot going on. Refreshing enough with a tropical fruitness as it warmed a little in the glass. Fairly dry finish but overall a beer lacking in depth and flavour.

500ml bottle: BBE of Jan 15. Poured into a UK pint sleeve at home in Dec 14. Nice looking brew, true copper hue to the clear and clean body: sadly the head sank to a wisp and collar a bit too quickly for my liking. Fruity and caramel notes in the nose, the taste also semi-sweet and malty with fruit hints to find. Mild woody and nutty feel to the flavours within the taste, a decent blend overall and a pleasant enough beer for the winter.

Terrible name; clear gold; good pineappley aroma, some toffee; tastes of caramel and fruit, with a bitter finish, which doesn’t sound much, but this has a nice full flavour for the abv and is well balanced; pleasant summer drinking.

Bottle; Copper, clear, minimal head; very fizzy when poured, sounded like a can of coke; although carbonation when drinking didn’t seem unusual; pleasant soft aroma of dark fruits and (unexpectedly) cocoa; hopes were low - a random low strength Tesco purchase from an unheard of brewery, but this was pretty decent; initial burst of soft juicy citric flavours gives way to a reasonably hoppy, moderately bitter finish; that hint of chocolate reappears in the finish too (good!) alongside a slight metallic feel (bad!); overall I enjoyed it, certainly not the bland bitter I was expecting.

Cask @ the pub, Leicester. A brown bitter. In all senses. Looks brown, smells like an ordinary brown bitter. Tastes like a brown bitter. There is a slight almost lemony taste to end which is nice. To give it it's due, if I was in a pub with this as the only interesting session beer I'd be on it all night. It's nicer than doom bar or pedigree or something like that. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle best before 1 Jan 2013: poured into a UK pint sleeve on Christmas Eve 2012. Front label claims it ’Warms yer Cockles’: well it didn’t do that but I did enjoy the beer. Dark mahogany body with deep red highlights: on top a thin off-white covering of foam. Malty molasses with an almost musty yeast presence in the nose: not unpleasant, but not right either. The taste was malts first and foremost: semi-sweet and fruity feel to the flavours. The hops were just below the surface throughout the tasting and added a little bitterness to the overall taste. Well balanced if a little un-bold in the blending/brewing. Could have been so much better.

Can’t quite get the measure of this one. Great ruby amber colour. Not too strong on flavour. Again I think it tastes like the local water. More malt than hops. It’s the aftertaste which is so interesting ... it lasts as a nutty hoppiness for ages afterwards.
