Amicas Rex's Amber
Pint at Amicas. This is clear amber. Biscuits, a little citrusy and spicy hop character, and toffee are in the aroma. Far off chocolate is noticed in the flavor. The body is pretty full with a medium bitterness present. Tasty, biscuity malt body is showcased. Solid take on the style.

Amicas Bomber Blonde
Pint at the brewpub. pours a barely hazy blonde with no head. One sniff reveals candy corn and a little butter. The palate is a little slick with generous candy corn flavors. The carbonation is high, making it a little more crisp. Finish is corn with some very subtle spicy hop notes.

Amicas Mocha-Oatmeal Milk Stout
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a medium, poorly retained beige head, with slight lacing, over a clear, dark brown (SRM 35) body......nose is cocoa, chocolate, coffee, slight vanilla, mild herbal hops.......taste is moderately lactose type sweet, with chocolate, coffee, slight cocoa notes, slight vanilla tones, finishing with hop, coffee, roasted malt bitterness, balance to the malts and additives.....mouth feel, very creamy slightly sticky body, mild alcohol warmth, moderate carbonation. This is a lovely rich, creamy milk stout. It is nicely balanced, with slightly restrained hops, with the roasted malts, coffee and chocolate are much of the finishing bitterness. BJCP 8/3/15/55/7

Amicas Pumpkin Chai Bock
Draft. Pours a thin, poorly retained, light beige head, with minimal lacing, over a clear copper amber (SRM 15) body.....nose is cinnamon, ginger, cardamon, fennel, light toasted malts, with crust, hints of raisin and dried cherry, light floral honey, minimal hops......taste is slightly sweet, with hints of caramel, raisin, dried cherry, light floral honey notes, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, light pumpkin, mild pepper notes on the finish, minimal hop notes.......mouth feel, meium body, slightly sticky, light alcohol notes, moderate carbonation. This is a very interesting pumpkin beer that is well balanced between spice, pumpkin and malts. It is highly complex in both aroma and flavor which really open up as it warms. BJCP 9/3/15/4/8

Amicas Big S Brown
Clearish dark deep brown with a persistent light beige foamy head. Aroma has a bit of cocoa and caramel but is overall a tad light. Smooth and quaffable flavor with cocoa malts and a fair body with gentle earthy sweetness throughout. Definitely not a boring run-of-the-mill brown, but nothing stupendous either. It’s like a really light and not-so-roasty Porter.

Amicas / Pagosa Peach Tart
Clear pale golden with a slight little white head. The nose reminds me of pickled banana peppers, but has a little orange rind in there too. Smooth flavor with just the right amount of sour twang, mixed with orange rind and smooth pale malt, and gentle peach tones. It’s honestly just a slightly soured pale ale, but it works out pretty well.

Amicas Work Release
Clear golden with a thin foamy white cap. Pretty light nose but you get a little German blonde malt and a kiss of boozy yeast. The flavor has a nice medium-full body with pleasant German blonde bock notes, light breadiness, a bit of alcohol heat, and a kiss of noble hop bitterness to balance. Pretty nice, if a bit standard.

Amicas Green Chile Ale
Clear light golden, no head. Nose of an assortment of fresh chiles. The flavor is crisp and semi light with a blonde ale backbone, but then a spicy wave of fresh chiles kicks in, with a wonderful roasted undertone, and a bit of capcasin heat. A touch spicy and peppery flavored but actually kinda nice. Not over the top in any one direction and very flavorful.

Amicas Bomber Blonde
Clear pale straw hue with a very thin white ring of foam around the glass. Nose is a tad lemony with a sweet pale golden malt behind it. Crisp and nearly lager-like flavor with blonde malt and cracker tones with a nice little pop of lemon zest and grassy hop bitterness. Very low bitterness overall but it brings a bit of balance. Crisp and refreshing and blonde and lemony.

Amicas Infinite Search
Draft. Pours a medium, well retained beige head, with slight lacing, over a clear, dark brown black (SRM 35) body.......nose is sweet, with heavy dried fruits including plum, raisin, toffee/caramel notes, cocoa, chocolate, coffee, molasses, light herbal notes, balance to the malts......taste is moderately sweet, with dried fruits including plum, raisin, cherry, hints of toffee/caramel, light beef notes, tobacco, finishing with a moderate hop, roasted malt bitterness, balance to the malts.....mouth feel, thick chewy body, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation makes for thick creaminess. This is a very rich, thick, complex beer with layers of complexity in both aroma and flavor. It evolves over time, and is a quite wonderful example of the style. BJCP 9/3/17/5/8

Amicas Victorian Porter
Growler. Pours a thin, shortly retained light beige head, with slight lacing, over a clear, brownish black (SRM 35) body.....nose is coffee, chocolate, toffee/caramel, light vanilla, minimal hops, balance to the malts.....taste is coffee, chocolate, light toffee/caramel, light nuttiness, moderately sweet throughout, light soft bitter finish....mouth feel, light of medium body, sticky, carbonation adds a light tingle, and light acid. This is a sweet, very malt dominated Robust Porter, with light hop contributions. As such, it is approaching a light Baltic in style, or a Tropical Stout, except for the low hopping. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

This meets the style nicely with light clove, banana/bubblegum, tones well balanced, clean, not cloying, refreshing. BJCP 8/3/16/5/7

Amicas Pegasus Project
Draft at the Brewery. Pours a thin white head, with some lacing over a hazy medium amber (SRM 12) body.....nose is toffee/caramel, almost treacle, toast biscuit, dried fruits, hints of pine, resin, grapefruit peel, anise.....taste is moderate sweet malts with toffee/caramel, dried fruits including raisin, plum, hints of anise, light pineapple as it warmed, light pepper tones, ending with a moderate lightly pine bitterness.....mouth feel thick, chewy, sticky, alcohol warmth present, ending softly. This is a rich, thick ,chewy, delightfully complex beer. Although the malts are a bit more forward than the hops it is well balanced. The result is to take it in the direction English Barley Wine rather than a hop consumed American. It is quite delicious. Let it warm slightly for best pleasure. BJCP 9/3/16/5/8

Amicas Gin Basket Wit
Draft, with multiple tastings over time. Pours a thin white, poorly retained white head over a hazy yellow (SRM 3) body....nose is cereal, citrous peel, coriander, grains of paradise, clove, cardamon, juniper.....taste is citrus with lime peel dominite, cardamon, light cereal, light pepper, juniper berry, slight spice bitterness, hints of lemon on the finish....mouth feel light of medium, minimal astringency, carbonation adds light acid on the finish. This is an interesting experiment. The botanicals dominate the yeast, malt and hop contributions. The complexity introduced by the herbs and other adjuncts were quite interesting to deconstruct, but made for a quite unusual beer. It really is a spice herb vegetable beer. BJCP 8/3/14/4/8

On tap at brewery July 12th. Supposedly aged on Woods Distillery gin barrel or with added chips. Pours a cloudy gold. Aroma of citrus. Modest carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavor of clove, cardamon, lemon grass, juniper. Overall quite tasty though very different from a regular witbier due to the distillery gin influence.

16oz goblet hazy dark amber with one ring of white head. Nose has mostly malt, cracker, toast, some light bitter green. Flavor doesn’t have a ton of sourness, some bitter greens, cracker, toast, caramel, a little red grape. Sweet finish. Not overly sour. Drinkable but seems like a mistake.

Bottle, at Papsø’s. Almost clear golden with a small off white head. Appears sweet, fruity and hoppy. Flavor is much the same, not as sticky as the nose suggests, and not as crisp as I could have dreamt of. A decent brew, though, but it doesn’t really gain from all that alcohol.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a hazy orange with a small off-white head. Biscuity sweet malts in the nose with a heavy hop dose - greasy hop melange. Thick and syrupy caramel, a ton of hops leading to a bitter finish. Hops are a bit "soupy" though - not so sharp and distinct - still very enjoyable. Boozy finish. 210113

Amicas Colorado Peach Pale Ale
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a minimal, very short lived white head, over a slightly hazy, dark gold (SRM 7) body......nose is very light fruit, slight honey, toffee/caramel, hop spice.....taste is very light peach, toffee/caramel, honey, with a lingering dominant, but moderate hop bitterness....mouth feel medium, carbonation medium. This is a beer that needs to warm in order to appreciate its qualities. When first poured, it was a very simple experience, with the hops utterly dominant except for the basic malt backbone. As it warmed the more subtle nuances of the malts and the fruit began to appear making for interesting aromas and flavors. There is no question this is an American style Pale Ale, with very light fruit tones. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7

Amicas Imperial Honey Brown
Tap. Sampled several times over a number of weeks at the brew pub. Pours a medium, poorly retained, ivory head, with minimal lacing, over a clear, brown (SRM 20) body.....nose is heavy cocoa, lighter chocolate, light toffee/caramel.....taste is cocoa, chocolate, toffee/caramel, slightly sweet throughout, mild spice hints (wintergreen)......mouth feel thick, chewy, slightly sticky, alcohol hidden, carbonation adds heavy creaminess. This is a rich, thick, complex, heavy, almost dessert in the glass type of beer. It is dominated by the roasted, not bitter malts, giving it the rich sweetness. This is not a session beer, nor one for a hop head, but one to be slowly savored, with a dish of Walnuts and a bit of Stilton . BJCP 8/3/14/4/7

Tap at the brewpub. Tasted several times, over a number of weeks. Pours a thin white, short duration head, over a minimally hazy, yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose is cereal, heavy bread, huge yeast....taste is dry throughout, with cereal, leading to a light bitterness....mouth feel light, carbonation high. This was an interesting beer to taste over calender time. Initially it was very "green" tasting with hints of green peach, green citrus. Later, which is the rating used, it was very bread and yeast dominated. Beer can transmogrify most wonderfully. This was a lighter take on an APA which was the best category in RateBeer for it. Draft at the brewpub.
