Pours a hazy dark brown cola colored with a thin tan ring. Medium carbonation and plenty of lacing. Nice tart aroma of Brett and Belgian spices. Flavors of caramel, toffee, and light spices burst onto your tongue and linger. The finish is smooth with a hint of warmth. Hides the alcohol extremely well. Very enjoyable. Similar to Gulden Draak but not as sweet.

11.2 oz. bottle into Trappistes Rochefort glass. Pour is dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma is cherry, dark fruits, caramel, and has some vinous qualities. Taste is dark fruits, plum, Belgian yeast, spice, malt, caramel, vinous, and nutty. Has a creamy, velvety texture. Warming finish, but not overly so. Very complex, but I’d like to think the recipe is a simple one that has been perfected over many years. One of the best.

330 mL bottle. The pour is a dark brown color, nice shade, with a larger light khaki head that falls down to a finger high cap, but it fizzes like a soda, it’s definitely not thick beer like. The aroma is interesting. Very complex. There is a nice sweet malt that meshes with a light vinousness and carries a good bit of dark fruit. There is a strong sweetness that isn’t as bad as I thought it was at one time. Thanks, changing palate. The flavor is good. There is a lot of sweet malts and a good punch of dark fruits and a light caramel There isn’t a whole lot of complexity in addition to that. This is nothing like a traditional belgian, and all of the good qualities that I look for. The mouth feel is a little thin, but the fizzy carbonation really throws it off. The aftertaste is lingeringly sweet and carries a light fruit to it. It’s not too bad, much better than I remember.

Bottle. Deep Amber-brownish pour, turbid with a large frothy off-white head, crazy retention. Nose is chewy dried fruit (dates, prunes, figs), toffee, vanilla, molasses, leather, super-faint phenolic note. Mouth is medium bodied, decent carbonation, lightly creamy, sweetness, dried fruit, spice cake, candy sugar, orange peel, almost no detectable bitterness, finishes with some spice and a pleasant warmth. Very good.

Rochefort 10 cellared 3 years Pours a dark brown color with a fluffy, fizzy, two finger sized head. Fantastic aromas of ripe sour cherries among rock sugar and roasted malts, very intense on the nose. Almost a little boozy, but amazingly well integrated into the decadent sweet aromas, balanced by old wood and toasted walnut shell. Has a very lively, bubbly carbonation, which makes the beer’s heavy body unfold in a lighter manner on the tongue, also washing away its boozy peak, which is recognizable for just a split second, while leaving with a long lasting warmth down the throat. Cherries from the nose are amongst the flavors from the very beginning, entangled into toffee, licorice, dried wood bark and autumn leaves. Malts have a toasty richness in this, which is heavy on the tongue, opening up the palate perfectly to the sweeter flavors, and makes it possible to integrate its warm boozy note so perfectly well. Nuttiness mingles into the warming alcohol, producing a cola sweetness, calmed by old earth and toasty malts, while finishing with a bubbly mineralic tone and dried plums. I am blown away by this one, this tastes perfect. Love the dried, sugared, alcohol soaked cherry note, which blends into roasted, rich malts. All flavors are intense and well pronounced at the same time, creating an awesome balance, making it possible for the different components to pack such a huge punch.

Voluminös. Komplex. Spritzig. Atemberaubend. Pours very dark brown color with small, short lasting off-white head. Hazy appearance. Lovely smell, sweet and floral. Full body with average carbonation. Creamy, thick texture. Very smooth on the tongue despite the alcohol burn. Taste is mostly sweet. Rich aroma. Herbal, floral, toffee, spices, nuts... Lovely. Dry finish with subtly noticeable alcohol presence. Overall, excellent.

If you’re looking for a pooter go away! This is a quality Belgian beer! I’ve tried the 6, 8, 10 all delicious different abv. I even like Rochefort and saint bernadus better than the so called number one rated beer on this site. You don’t even taste the alcohol, that’s the thing about high abv beers u taste the alcohol more than all the malts/hops/barley/caramel....this you only taste yummy caramel, toasty molasses, n wonderful belgique malts! YUM!

Scents of yeast and malt sweet and nuts. Pours opaque brown with a rocky big tan head. Big huge flavors of malt and leather umami combination of sweet and sour with an abrupt acerbic finish which is the only hint of alcohol. Oily mouthfeel with heavy carbonation. Quite a mouthfull. Rockin’.

Chyba jeszcze lepsze niż "dziesiątka". W nosie belgijskie drożdże, marcepan, figi, porto, pieprzne fenole. Na języku jak to w mocnych belgach gruszka z jabłkiem ale też wanilia, nuta czekolady (najbliższa deserowej), suszone śliwki, lekka pieprzność. Wszystko idealnie zharmonizowane. Dobre wysycenie, przyjemnie "pracuje" w ustach. Rozgrzewa, alkohol oczywiście mniej wyczuwalny niż w 10. Pierwsza liga.

Bottle from The bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a deep brown colour with a frothy off white head. Aroma of blackcurrant, plum, raisin, some cherry, slight bready malts, chocolate, a little cola, a hint of liquorice, Belgian yeast and subtle spice. Taste of blackcurrant, plum, cola, some chocolate, raisin, slight liquorice, spice, a little cherry, a hint of brown sugar and subtle herbal hops. Full bodied and slick texture. A powerfully long, fruity, spicy bitterness in the finish. Another wonderfully complex Belgian quad, lovely fruity flavours and lots of spiciness. Quite alcoholic and sweet at times but so flavourful. Best Belgian beer I’ve had so far.

Type: 330-ml. bottle (11.2 oz.) Glass: Westvleteren 12 Trappist glass From: San Diego Wine Company in Miramar (San Diego), Calif. Price: $5.99 Purchased: N/A; Received on April 23, 2016 Consumed: April 27, 2016 Misc.: Best before July 23, 2019 Thanks, Tom! My wife’s uncle, Tom, brought this as a gift, along with Founder’s KBS and Acoustic Ales Instant Triple Karma. Unbelievably nice as I hadn’t had the chance so have either. Have always wanted to try these Trappistes Rochefort beers, but this will be my first. Poured an auburn, murky color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy, khaki head. Light bubbles coming up from the bottom. Minimal wet lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 4.00) Smelled that 9.2 pct. ABV right away. Once that settled, got spoiled plum, toffee, some candied caramel, red apple, purple grape, raisins, prunes and more dark fruits. Funky overall. (Smell - 4.00) Taste was a bit better, but still on those funky notes. Got roasted toffee, candied caramel, spoiled plum, raisins, prune juice, dates, rye bread, purple grape, red apple, some blackberry, hints of rum, light notes of chocolate and some wintry spices. (Taste - 4.00) Medium body. Oily texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, warming finish. (Feel - 4.25) I really wanted to like this one but probably ended up overrating it as a result. It was good, but not something I would need to try again. It’s not like I’ve never tried a Belgian Strong Dark Ale (this was my 12th) but it was just good, not great. Maybe this is supposed to be the standard, but I reviewed it as is. (Overall - 4.00) 4.03 90 A-

Darkest of all Trappistes Rochefort. Strong carbonation, mouthfeel divine. Very complex and deep taste and aroma, but not heavy. Superb balance. Served in a La Trappe Trappist glass from a bottle. Pours chestnut brown colour with a creamy fast diminishing head. Aroma is yet again a typical Trappist beer aroma - caramel, malt, bread, yeast. Taste is bready and slightly salty but nicely balanced. Medium body with lively carbonation (almost on a prickly side). Nice enough to have more.

More or less the gold standard for quality in beer, it’s an amazing brew indeed, with so much going on (not least of which is the healthy 11.3% kick). Could be slightly more rounded in terms of mouthfeel but any criticism here is like mortals tossing pebbles at gods.

Aroma: plum, raisin, high alcohols. Appearance: hazy deep brown color and beige head. Taste: really warming alcohol, peachy, roasted dark malts, red fruits, plum, champagne notes (strange), black currant, quite dry. Palate: full body and medium carbonation, fruit finish. Overall: Really interesting stuff, for me alcohol is to high and even slightly rough.

Hazy, brown colour. Thin white head. Hints of vanilla, toffee, hints of coffee, dark fruits in the aroma. Toffee at first. Vanilla. Caramel. Nice spiceness in the middle. Dark fruits. Hints of raisins. Toffee in the end. Hints of vanilla, caramel and hints of fruits in the aftertaste. Quite nice mouthfeel. Sweetnes is in balance. Makes bit warm inside, but covers alchohol very well. Rather medium bodied, medium carbonated, very good beer.
