Fischer’s Stiftungsbräu Hell 3
500ml bottle. Clear, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Slightly grainy, pale malty aroma, grassy hoppy overtones, cautious spiciness originating from grassy hop and husky malt in equal shares, a very cautious, soapy lemon touch is identifiable as well. Taste is minimally sweet pale malty, yeasty doughy, a hoppy lemon dash; minimally bitter and spicy, hoppy finish. Quite simple, but clean, well balanced and refreshing. Definitely on the better half of the style.

Gold color with some foam. The smell is quite malty. This beer is a standard malty beer with a solid carbonation. The aftertaste is rather normal. This beer is not more or less than a standard Helles.

On tap at Sheridan’s Irish Pub in Zagreb. Many in Zagreb claim this to be a great lager... Clear pale golden, small white head. Faint grain metallic aroma. Sweet, hay mainly, malts. Soft carbonation, medium body. Hay in the finish. Has some character, but nothing much.

Simples Helles mit recht getreidiger Note, etwas zu viel an Bitterkeit und einer recht herben Note. Leicht bitteres Wasser. Geht so.

13th Dec 2014: 0.3 litre on tap within an open sided wooden hut bar at the Rathaus Hamburg Christmas Market. Surprised to see this, a Bavarian beer so far north. Anyway it came a clean, clear golden colour with thin white head. Slight malty aroma. The taste also on the malty side, not a lot going at all actually, crisp and refreshing but lacks depth or flavour. Bog standard Helles with delicate notes too difficult to pick up when the beer is served so cold and does not warm up because of the weather and where it was drank.

On tap at Nautic bar in Zagreb. Some grassy, metal notes, grains. Thin body. Average. I think here is missing both, some hops and malt aromas, even for helles beer. It is overpriced in Croatia.

Keg at The Roundy. Pours a nice bright fizzy golden, with a lasting short white head. Reasonably damp aroma of grass, light floral notes and caramel. Nice light floral bitterness and sugary sweetness in the taste. Lightly sweet aftertaste with a lively, light finish. Quite tasty and refreshing, a decent draught lager.

Fischer’s Stiftungsbräu Hell 2.4
On tap. Poured a clear yellow-gold with a one finger white head that stuck around. Moderate carbonation. Aromas of cut grass, honey, noble hops and lemon zest. The taste is malty up front, before a lemony hop bitterness comes through. Light sweetness at the end, followed by a clean finish. Fairly thin bodied. Not the best helles lager I’ve had, but not too bad all the same.

Much better than I was expecting. Smooth and the malt driven dry core gives it an appreciablely solid finish as more malt and a little grass hits the palate. Nothing mind blowing, but good easy drinking.

Fischer’s Stiftungsbräu Dunkel 3.4
Poured from a 500 ml bottle, as Fischers Stiftungsbräu Dunkel, at a Chinese restaurant in Erding. Very dark brown colour, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma of bakery, dark münchener malts and caramel. Soft mouthfeel. The flavour has also notes of dark münchener malts and caramel, but is not too sweet. Minimal hops.

On tap at the Brauerei-Gasthof zur Post, Erding, as Fischer Helles. Crystal clear golden / yellow colour, moderate white head. High level of carbonation in the glass. Moderate aroma of light malts, a hint of grassy hops. The flavour is nice and refreshing, with more distinct hops than expected from an industrial helles, quite good actually.

Fischer’s Stiftungsbräu Hell 3.4
08/12 Draught at Scout Irish Pub in Samobor. Pale yellow bodied with medium fluffy head. Sourish (unpasteurized?) aroma with citrus and dusty notes. Very nice flavor, fruity with banana and lemon, well balanced inclining to sweet. Although not thin bodied it is very light and goes down so quickly it leaves watery impression. Finish is pleasant and quite long, but as I’ve said bit watery. The waiter warned me the keg is low, but this is still very good beer, which I could drink in every occasion and daytime.

On tap at the Sylt seafood bar, Munich airport. Lots of carbonation, this helles has a fair bit of bitterenss, bordering on a pils. Full malt aroma, some flowery hops. Nice thirst-quencher, this should have a bigger market.

A pale yellow coloured beer with a frothy white head. A wheaty nose, cereal-like, and a slightly metallic hoppy aroma. A dry taste, hoppy and fruity, then a dry, wheaty flavour, malty, like bran cereal. A weak hoppy finish. (Bottle - Trinkmarkt Fleischmann, Neufahrn, Germany).

Fischer’s Stiftungsbräu Hell 3.2
Yellow, whipped-cream like head, leaving some flimsy lace over yellow-golden beer. Very fresh smelling beer, bit of malinic acid, apples, kiwifruit and pale malts - and alcohol. Warm, slightly alcoholic-sweetish flavours in a quite grainy taste. Bit of greenery, strange but known flavour. Bit toasted. Light to medium bodied. Dry finish & aftertaste, peach flavour in the aftertaste. Very dry beer, the alcoholic touches are strange for such a low ABV beer.

(tap at the Dachsbau, Krefeld, as „Schloßbrauerei Mariabrunn Münchner Helles“) Clear and pale yellow colour with a mid-sized foamy white head. Sweet malty aroma with cake dough and a dense note of herbal hops. Sweetbitter flavour, medium to light bodied, crispy mouthfeel. Initially sweet malty taste, slightly acidic, moderately dry finish. Drinkable but boring Bavarian Helles.
