Gordon Biersch Märzen 3.8
5.8%ABV. Märzen. Tapped out deep amber. 18ºSRM. Nose has some sweet, alcoholic, phenolic aromas. Beery and just happy with the promise of a proper Munic welcome. There is some fresh nut aroma in the nose as well. Very very welcoming. Mouthfeel is soapy., Palate has ample roasted malt with dark wheat toast, caramel, toasted almonds and hazelnuts. Some raw walnut body, especially in the tail end of the palate. No hops. The finish is so very very pleasant and very smooth. For an airport tap, this was likely one of my more memorable experiences! Why? It had a full-bodied malty backbone, some clean bitter hops and enough alcohol to round off the entire palate with some faint stone fruit sweetness and fruitiness, Goes on Favorites List!

Gordon Biersch Hefeweizen 3.5
5.4%ABV. Hefeweizen. Tapped out light amber. 8ºSRM. Nose has banana and bubble gum aromas. Sweet and ester-like with the aroma of just over-ripe fruit. Mouthfeel is carbonated. There is some pronounced carbonation which on first impression is soda-like, then opens up to the grain palate which is pale to lightly toasted malt. Full-bodied and reminiscent of a malted milkshake or malted candy. "Horlicks" for those in the know. Also has that formic acid tang that always reminds me of the acrid aroma you get when you crush red ants’ most commonly described as phenolic. You get this in the back of the throat and in the back of the tongue. No hops that you can really taste. Finish is lager-like and beery and not entire unpleasant, especially if this well-endowed brew is sitting next to a pork knuckle. A very very creditable Hefe. I actually liked this one...

Gordon Biersch Pilsner 3.7
5.3%ABV. Pilsner. Tapped out gold. 4ºSRM. Nosed the same as the SommerBrau. Mouthfeel is watery. Carbonation was not as pronounced as the seasonal. Palate is pale malt, but a lot less sweet. Hops crashed onto the palate a lot quicker and more aggressively. They were still bitter and light without being cloying on the palate. Finish was clean because of the hops with the bitter being just a little more evident than the SommerBrau which I had just before this one.

Gordon Biersch SommerBrau 3.3
4.6%ABV. Kolsch. Tapped out gold. 4ºSRM. Nose has the aroma of sour plums. Aroma of Chinese preserved plums or the local preserved mango slices. There is a very slight phenolic tang to the nose. Mouthfeel is watery. Light carbonation. Palate is full bodied pale malt and wheat malt with flavors of water biscuit, Wonderbread. Hops are bitter and light on the palate. Finish is clean without being beery. A very nice light Pils-like brew. Clean hop finish.

Gordon Biersch Weizenbock 3.7

Gordon Biersch Dry Irish Stout 3.1
Assez ennuyant.

Marheb
Gordon Biersch Session IPA 3.5

Marheb

Gordon Biersch Golden Export 3.4

Gordon Biersch Doppelbock 3.2
guest tap to snifter glass. poured a medium cola brown color with now head. just looking at it and nothing else it appeared to be a light to medium body. the aroma was basically a mild sweet, caramel, lightly roasted malts and not much else. the body was mild and the flavor was quite mild for a dopplebock. was shocked that it was 8% because you don’t taste it anywhere in the flavor. just seemed rather watery and I was disappointed.

Gordon Biersch Märzen 3.3
On tap at Detroit airport. Caramel malts and sweet cookies. Different from the original German versions which tend to be ligjter. Its much darker, amber brown, and quite strong too. Dry and nutty, but very refreshing. More like a vienna lager than a marzen, but still enjoyable.

Gordon Biersch Belgian Tripel 3.3
On tap at GB - Navy Yard. Pretty good adaptation of the style, smooth, slick and buttery. Appearance a bit lacking as the head was kind of weak. Buttery, herbal and the right amount of yeast put this in the ballpark.

3fourths
Gordon Biersch Col. Klink’s German IPA 3.3
Draft at GB New Orleans. Hazed gold with a short white head. Strongly hoppy Aroma impression is lemon zest, lemon juice, grassy hop pellets, mild resin with some floral quality; little to no apparent malt character evident in the nose. Medium-full bodied, strongly bitter, moderately sweet, somewhat rough and gritty, finishing savory and plump but also sharp and grating and acidic in the mouth. It’s cleanly fermented and the hops seem noble in character (strong lemon pulpiness) as opposed to western, but their overuse results in astringency hop acidity that’s amplified by the coarse texture.
