Taps slightly hazy golden with a thick, fine-bubbled and persistent pale buff head. Aroma promises fresh malt and fruity tones. Flavor delivers both, noticeably bolder than the aroma, and adds a hint of resiny hops. Mouthfeel features heavy, viscous mouthfeel and lively fizz. Very tasty, and will take the edge off a sweltering day.

Gordon Biersch Pilsner
This is for the Naptown pils in GB Annapolis. Nice low Saaz aroma with pils malt. The grassy astringent flavor overcomes the rest and make the experience underwhelming. Seems Jim the Brewer is blind to grassy flavors.

12oz bottle on my daughters patio, 21st May 2016. Autumnal orange in colour, large off-white head. Malty molasses rule the nose and flavour of this sweet tasting brew. Decent enough even if it is on the sweet side of things.

Gordon Biersch Brewers Select Double IPA
Draught at the Buffalo location, 5/6/16 as "Imperial IPA" at 8.4% abv. Close enough.
Clear, copper-golden with a firm white head atop.
Tropical fruits give off a bright, playful, fairly strong aroma at first but are quickly joined by pine and grapefruit. Cherry-like notes emerge as the base sugars mix with the hops and there’s a bit of pepper and resin on the end.
Sweet, maybe a touch too much so, with caramel and honey primarily balancing the peach-pine-grapefruit. As it warms and breathes the juicier, tropical notes seem to fully fade and it’s a bit on the piney-resinous side. But the Buffalo location beers are exceptionally clean, which is nice and the texture and carbonation are both on-point, so there is that.

Gordon Biersch Saison
Draught tulip at the Buffalo location, 5/6/16.
Big, pillowy white head slowly falls to cover atop a lightly hazy, apricot flesh colored gold.
Straightforward honey and light angel food cake (vanilla) provide a traditional malt base with soft black pepper phenols and a touch of bubble gum. No cellar qualities (didn’t expect) any, but it’s not a banana or peach bomb and other than being a bit grassy-sweet from bittering hop and malt mixing together, it’s quite drinkable. Carbonation is ample and engaging, which was the most impressive part. No alcohol and very clean.

Gordon Biersch Märzen
5.8%ABV. Märzen. Tapped out deep amber. 18ºSRM. Nose has some sweet, alcoholic, phenolic aromas. Beery and just happy with the promise of a proper Munic welcome. There is some fresh nut aroma in the nose as well. Very very welcoming. Mouthfeel is soapy., Palate has ample roasted malt with dark wheat toast, caramel, toasted almonds and hazelnuts. Some raw walnut body, especially in the tail end of the palate. No hops. The finish is so very very pleasant and very smooth. For an airport tap, this was likely one of my more memorable experiences! Why? It had a full-bodied malty backbone, some clean bitter hops and enough alcohol to round off the entire palate with some faint stone fruit sweetness and fruitiness, Goes on Favorites List!

Gordon Biersch Hefeweizen
5.4%ABV. Hefeweizen. Tapped out light amber. 8ºSRM. Nose has banana and bubble gum aromas. Sweet and ester-like with the aroma of just over-ripe fruit. Mouthfeel is carbonated. There is some pronounced carbonation which on first impression is soda-like, then opens up to the grain palate which is pale to lightly toasted malt. Full-bodied and reminiscent of a malted milkshake or malted candy. "Horlicks" for those in the know. Also has that formic acid tang that always reminds me of the acrid aroma you get when you crush red ants’ most commonly described as phenolic. You get this in the back of the throat and in the back of the tongue. No hops that you can really taste. Finish is lager-like and beery and not entire unpleasant, especially if this well-endowed brew is sitting next to a pork knuckle. A very very creditable Hefe. I actually liked this one...

Gordon Biersch Pilsner
5.3%ABV. Pilsner. Tapped out gold. 4ºSRM. Nosed the same as the SommerBrau. Mouthfeel is watery. Carbonation was not as pronounced as the seasonal. Palate is pale malt, but a lot less sweet. Hops crashed onto the palate a lot quicker and more aggressively. They were still bitter and light without being cloying on the palate. Finish was clean because of the hops with the bitter being just a little more evident than the SommerBrau which I had just before this one.

4.6%ABV. Kolsch. Tapped out gold. 4ºSRM. Nose has the aroma of sour plums. Aroma of Chinese preserved plums or the local preserved mango slices. There is a very slight phenolic tang to the nose. Mouthfeel is watery. Light carbonation. Palate is full bodied pale malt and wheat malt with flavors of water biscuit, Wonderbread. Hops are bitter and light on the palate. Finish is clean without being beery. A very nice light Pils-like brew. Clean hop finish.

guest tap to snifter glass. poured a medium cola brown color with now head. just looking at it and nothing else it appeared to be a light to medium body. the aroma was basically a mild sweet, caramel, lightly roasted malts and not much else. the body was mild and the flavor was quite mild for a dopplebock. was shocked that it was 8% because you don’t taste it anywhere in the flavor. just seemed rather watery and I was disappointed.
