This was a good beer it had a smooth balance between hops and malts, it didn't have that pronounced hop note that I expect though ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gordon Biersch Winter Bock 3.6
Bottle in LA. Strong malt character and big sherry-like plummy flavour, without being boozy like so many doppelbocks are. Very drinkable. A nice easy drinking doppelbock.

3fourths
Gordon Biersch Col. Klink’s German IPA 3.3
Draft at GB New Orleans. Hazed gold with a short white head. Strongly hoppy Aroma impression is lemon zest, lemon juice, grassy hop pellets, mild resin with some floral quality; little to no apparent malt character evident in the nose. Medium-full bodied, strongly bitter, moderately sweet, somewhat rough and gritty, finishing savory and plump but also sharp and grating and acidic in the mouth. It’s cleanly fermented and the hops seem noble in character (strong lemon pulpiness) as opposed to western, but their overuse results in astringency hop acidity that’s amplified by the coarse texture.

Gordon Biersch Winter Bock 3.3
[on tap at Gordon Biersch, DTW airport] Aroma is nutty, biscuity malt with low noble hops in the background. Clear chestnut appearance under a persistent tawny, off-white sheet. Sweet, complex cereal grain malt flavour that quickly dries out and becomes a bit ethanolic. Moderate bitterness. Medium body, slightly warming, smooth start and crisp finish. Medium carbonation.

Gordon Biersch Blonde Bock 3.4

Gordon Biersch Hefeweizen 3.2
[on tap at Gordon Biersch, DTW airport] Spicy phenolic clove and pepper aroma with some faint banana and base malt hiding in the background. Cloudy orange-amber under a persistent off-white, lacy blanket. Flavour begins with clove, but quickly becomes clovey bubblegum and eventually is a smooth banana. Bitterness is perceptible, but only just. There is a faint, candy (like those red, homemade candy lollipops) note in the background with the base malt and moderate wheat flavour. The wheat does also provide a little acidic brightness. Medium light body, medium carbonation, begins smooth and ends crisp.

asheft
Gordon Biersch Czech Style Pilsner 2.9
[on tap at Gordon Biersch, DTW airport] Fairly weak aroma of sweet pilsner malt and low zesty, Czech, noble hops. Less cracker and fermentation character compared to the Golden Export. Bight gold under lacy, white wisps. Flavour begins with balanced crackery malt and hops bitterness and then becomes pungent noble hops, and then the bitterness really holds on into the crisp finish. The bitterness together with the carbonic bite, are a little unpleasant. Light body, medium carbonation.

Gordon Biersch American Pale Ale 3.7
On tap at the Atlanta brewpub. OG: 12.5 IBU = 45. Look: This unfiltered ale has a slightly hazy amber body with an off-white head that has very good retention and leaves excellent lacing. GoufCustom
Gordon Biersch Winter Bock 3.4

355 ml bottle bought at The Q-Club in SoHo, Central.

Looks: Clear deep Cola ruby-brown colour; Less than one-quarter finger head with residual soapy light beige foam which fades in 10 seconds; Small sticky lacing with zero carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and sweet dark malt, with very strong caramel, strong toffee, very strong plums, raisins, light mustiness, sugar, light chocolate, lemon and light grass.

Taste: Medium sweet dark malt, with very light roastyness, strong caramel, toffee, moderate dark fruits, brown sugar, light dark bread, strong lemon, strong bitter hops and sharp grass.

Body: Medium body. Quite slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Good dark maltyness in a pretty smooth background. Moderate roastyness much like a Dunkler bock. Caramel, toffee and dark fruits are not as strong as the aroma. Light breadyness, good brown sugar sweetness to mix well with strong lemony hops. Simple but pretty good!

Hoppiness: Notable lemon and light grass in nose, and much stronger and impressive in taste. Bitterness is head-strong for a lasting, high astringent sweet-bitter finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Malty and bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one feels more like a Dunkler Bock with strong roast maltyness, very good caramel aroma, subtle brown sugar taste and unexpectedly strong hoppy finish. A twist to the usual German Doppelbock style, with good effect. Nice!
