Blue Corn (Santa Fe) McLeonards Single Malt
10.1 percent. Pours a rather clear gold with a fat pillow head that keeps growing. Seriously fun to behold. Strong candy honeycomb aroma. Some light berry sweetness under all that. Banana berry cereal punch flavor. Ice cream in the finish. The booze keeps this drinkable and almost balanced. Glad it is only 10 ounce pours though. Honeycomb finish with a roast almond flavor.

Blue Corn (Santa Fe) Pucker Up
6.1% hazed red orange body with a thin white head. Smells of orange juice and black berries. Mild fruit tart flavor that reminds me of lik em aid from when I was a kid. The acidic fruit notes are a bit heavy for my tastes. Bit of a saw dust like yeast note underneath it all. A banana and strawberry flavor emerges as it warms.

Blue Corn (Santa Fe) Atomic Blonde Ale
Draft @ Blue Corn Cafe in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Initial waft was pleasant and sweet, lacking usual skunk from other blondes. Slightly hazy with very little carbonation. This is not a crisp pilsner, but a medium bodied lager with a slightly viscous texture.

Blue Corn (Santa Fe) Monkís Mesa
Draft at the Brewery and Cafe off the Plaza in Santa Fe.

Curiously crystal clear yellow pour with a tidy white head. Fruity orchard esters dominate the aroma, and the flavor more or less follows with a slight sweet-tartness. Beyond the esters I donít get a lot of yeast character. Light refreshing mouthfeel, this one goes down very easily alongside a tasty plate of green chile tamales, much easier than a 7% hop bomb IPA would. I canít say I love the beer, but Iím very pleased to see American breweries experimenting with <5% Belgian styles.

Blue Corn Razz
Sampled September 2013
A steady pour into my teku glass produces a 1/4-finger thick, pale head. The beer is a light red color that shows a lightly hazed, red-stained, golden hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells fruity, almost more like a NyQuil than specifically of raspberries; the fruit character has a floral quality to it, and definitely a sweet smelling, bright raspberry aroma to it.

The beer is quite dry up front, the fruit character is quite present, especially towards the finish where it really lingers on the palate. A bit of cracker like grain, and a rounded bready malt character are lightly noticeable in the middle, but really the raspberry character is the dominant flavor in this beer; because this is not sweet though, the raspberry flavors are held somewhat in check. The beer is pretty light bodied, and there is a light carbonation that provides some prickle to the finish. There is a light tartness to the finish that seems brought into play by the raspberries. There is a juiciness to the raspberry character in the finish, and it even brings out a soft sweetness, again which reminds me of NyQuil for some reason.

A straight up raspberry fruit beer.

Blue Corn (Santa Fe) Decadent Porter
listed as the chocolate porter. had most of a pint with dinner with my sister, really liked it following the adovada and the light belgian pale i had before. pour is black with a very thin head that does not last. cocoa nose with a bit of peanut butter. rich chocolate flavor with a very nice cocoa finish. the sweet chocolate is balanced by the dry cocoa. i picked up a couple of growlers to take to some beer folks back in denver tomorrow in exchange for a couch to sleep on, cheaper than a hotel room.

Blue Corn (Santa Fe) Road Runner IPA
On tap at the brewery, pours a copper red tint. Again, I think this brewery uses melanoidan malt in a lot of its grain bill, resulting in a red tint. Aroma is hoppy, mostly citrus and grapefruit. The body is medium with a nice level of CO2 framing a good malt-hop balance. Finishes clean and hoppy. A solid IPA.

Blue Corn (Santa Fe) Road Runner IPA
Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, wood, sweaty, spice, farmyard and leather. The taste is pine, resinous, good deal of bitterness, earth, alcohol kick, varnish, underlying caramel, peppery and leaf with a bitter finish. Medium+ body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Tastes better than it smells anyway. Nice bitterness.

Blue Corn (Santa Fe) Vienna Lager
Clear, pretty light gold hue (pure vienna malt is darker than this), that sits underneath a pale white colored head. Light sweet grain notes, hint of herbal hops, with perhaps a hint of lemon notes.

Somewhat dry, fullish bodied, with lots of nice pale grain character, and a hay like and cracker like grain character. Softly prickly carbonation that nicely offsets the chewy malt body (chewy for a Vienna).

Actually quite a nice grain character here. A nice beer to start the day with.

3.2
Blue Corn (Santa Fe) East Fork IPA
Pale gold, clear gold color, thin pale head. The aroma is lightly herbal, with a fairly significant cracker like grain character, light citrus note that suggest at grapefruit and perhpas a touch of tangerine zest.

Soft citrus notes up front with a sweet malt taste, just enough, which accentuates notes of tangerine, Meyer lemon, perhaps a touch of pine, especially towards the finish, and a grassy herbal note that lingers into the finish with a bit of a bitter bite. Cracker like malt character and a touch of hay like grain, as well as a rounded chewy pale malt character plays a supporting role here.

Light and quaffable like a IPA needs to be, but not all that hop focused, or not enough for me. A nice enough beer, but not an IPA.

Blue Corn (Santa Fe) Road Runner IPA
Arrives from the tap with a pale, off-white head. The beer is a clear, copper color. The aroma is amply hoppy, with lots of floral, citrusy and herbal notes; this is what an IPA should smell like. It has a dank edge to it that is nicely "herbaceaous". Lots of tangelo zest, and lychee notes.

A nice biting, but smooth bitterness that becomes a bit more prominent through the finish. Lots of tangelo zest notes, ruby red grapefruit notes, rosemary, a touch of menthol, definitely some pine flavors and a general herbal floral character defines the hop notes here. The body is a touch chewy, but still quite quaffable. The malt character has some light crystal malt character that contributes a touch of caramelized grain, and some whole grain cracker like character.

A solid IPA, definitely the best beer of the couple I have had from this brewery. Even pairs well with the Breakfast burrito I am having right now.

Tap @ Blue Corn Santa Fe Southside. Pours a clear golden appearance with a white head. Somewhat spicy, lightly piney, citrusy hoppy, herbal/floral aroma. Nicely toasted malty, straw, spicy, orange citrusy flavor. This is tasty but hard to classify. It uses potent American hops, wheat/pils/crystal malts and is brewed with a lager yeast. Tasty nonetheless.
