An Teallach Hector
Dark beer with a thin head. Earthy malt scent. Flavour has the same bitter malt, rich chocolate and a bit of coffee in there too. Rather tasty.

An Teallach Fuar
Tasted this in the Sir John Moore, Glasgow (JDW) on the 30th January 2016. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear tawny in colour with a thin white head. Short malty aroma with no fruit detected. Thin resiny mouthfeel and poor lacing. Mixed malts deliver a moist maltloaf base with hints of woody blaeberry just about present but little else. There is a discernible hop prickle in the short aftertaste with dusty overtones noted in the palate. Finish is malty but very weak in the mouth, tart fruit notes becoming drier with just a hint of oak cask. An ok session Fruit Beer but lacking punch in complexity of flavours. Would like to see An Teallach push the boat out for once and brew something over 5% for a change? Come on gives a Barley Wine or a rich dark Porter to chew over!!

An Teallach Ale
On cask at the White Lady. Appearance - amber with a nicely proportioned head. Nose - citrus but with a mysterious chocolate note lurking in the background. Taste - more of the same but there’s an astringent malt finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture but the finish is astringent. Overall - not worth getting another.

An Teallach Hector
Tasted this in the Bull Inn, Paisley on the 13th August 2015. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear black ruby in colour with a thin buff head. Strong malt in the long aroma with syrupy sweet notes of heavy molasses. Disappointed with the thin mouthfeel and poor lacing though. Dark malt complex gives a moist maltloaf base with strong notes of treacle toffee, dark chocolate and dry liquorice root all present in this ale. There is an earthy bitter note to the short hopped aftertaste. Strong malty finish with bitter dark chocolate, liquorice and treacle toffee fudge. So easy to drink at 5%! Reminded me of a weak Maclay’s Old Alloa in parts? This is an excellent Stout and creeping into Old Ale territory here.

Cask at The Arch, Ullapool. It pours clear gold with a small white head. The nose is grainy, sweet pale malt, straw, paper, slurry and rotten fruit. The taste is lightly bitter, really grainy, straw, watery lemon, soap and some spice with a dry finish. Light-medium body and soft. Wow.... Not good at all. Very grainy and smells of slurry. No thanks.
