Sapporo Premium Lager 2.5
Au nez tout de suite on est sur les céréales(riz) En bouche on va la trouver sucré et malté on dirait une bière qui n’ai pas terminé d’être fermentée

resin, floral, grass, orange, clear, sparkling, light sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, lively, bitter. Deep hop aroma, heavy grass. Beautiful clear, sparkling orange. Very lovely in the glass. Nice balance of sweet and spicy, finishing with a clean, refreshing bitterness. Well done.

Sapporo Five Star 2.8
Quickly bought this at convenience store tonight. Was thinking it might be some type of improvement from regular Sapporo but it wasn’t. Lightly hopped, thin body, not foul but not much going on. I guess it would pair well with sushi but doesn’t do a lot for me

Sapporo Yebisu The Hop 2016 3.2
Can. MIld sewery nose, a bit of prickly hoppiness, and a light grassy note. Pretty deep gold straw color, thin head, some good lacing. Sweetish malty initial, fruity fruity with hopping, grassy in mid palate, and a rich malty finish. Thin-medium body, well balanced. The label touts the new Saaz hops, but I don’t really get them so much in the nose.

Sapporo Yebisu Meister 3.3
Can. Somewhat stinky nose - a bit vegetal, actually, bit of spice, but kind of happoshu-like. Medium copper/ gold color, thin head. Thick malty initial flavor, hits of spicy hopping, then the malt reasserts itself, and finishes with solid bitter tracks. Medium body. I don’t really care for the nose on this one. But it has an intriguing malt/hop interaction in the flavor.

Dark golden color. Big hoppy nose with some toasted malts. Full bodied, big hoppiness in the mouth. Modest bitter aftertaste. Very clean well made, but doesnt take me to the next level.

Sapporo Yebisu Meister 3.3
Can from Kent Boys. Spicy, herbal noble hop nose with rich crackery malt backing. Deep golden orange, clear, with a tall fine head. Very well hopped, peppery, herbal, and bitter. Mdium miscuity malt sweetness. Properly done. Very well hopped, much better than the newly sweetened regular version. Dig it for a refresher.

Sapporo Craft Label Hello! Weizen 2.5
Can from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Light banana nose, with a small chemical spice-like note. Medium gold straw color, and not much head (for a weizen). Sweetish banana initial flavor, gets a bit harsh in mid palate with some ususual bittering. Harshness continues through to the finish. Thin-medium body. Seems very thin, and that mid and final rough character doesn’t help things much. They really didn’t get this one right. Goodbye! Weizen.

22oz can 5/5/16 (Jewel-Osco Clearance Rack)-40° in Mug-Pours clear golden with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of sweetness, corn and slight malt. Taste of the same. This light bodied brew is not bad as I was expecting worse.

Sapporo Classic Haru no Kaori 3.1
Can from Hokkaido. Nicely hoppy nose--says it uses special "flavor hops" to make "the aroma of Springtime rise." Is quite nice actually. Lemon, orange, light malt, some biscuit. Clear, deep gold with a low thick head. Nice citrus flavor, pineapple too. Malts are there although not particularly tasty. Oily, slightly fizzy palate. Not bad at all. A bit too sweet. Peppery, prickly hop finish with long bitterness. I could drink more.

Sapporo Kaori no Goku Zero 1.4
Can. More alcohol, and the word "Hop" on the front label. Can it be even close to as terrible as the 4% wonderbier? Citrus, bubble gum nose, pineapple and tropical fruits. I cannot say it smells like hops, but it smells better than the regular, which smells like nothing. Flavor is gross pineapple syrup, nasty ass astringent finish, apple and orange juice. This is also simply disgusting, although half as gross as the other. When I drink something like this, I feel a newfound respect for the Reinheitsgebot. This has 13 ingredients!

Sapporo Goku Zero 0.9
Can. Straight from the fridge. Deep gold, clear, oily, lace. Not much of a nose at all. A bit of white grape, touch of orange juice, some cardboard. Unoffensive, un-anything. Flavor is much, much worse. Oh shit, this is horrible. Citrus dish detergent, rubbing alcohol, wet paper, alka seltzer. Not even vaguely beer like or minimally drinkable. Harsh bitter finish. Worst thing this year. Mind-blowingly horrible.

Sapporo Yebisu Premium Black 2.9
Pours like cola, with a little beige head, quite fizzy. Roasted malt and a little liquorice on the nose. Taste is roast, a little sweet at first then almost a charcoal after-taste.

CanIHave4Beers
Sapporo Draft Beer / Premium Beer 2.8
Can, shared by me... in the library... just now.
Pours a pale golden color, perfectly clear with lots of little bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass, it’s got a very well retained and attractive fluffy white head.

The aroma is a little tinny and mostly sweet & doughy with a little bit of herbal character to it.

The flavor is fine, I mean it tastes like a above average industrial lager. It’s got a nice bit of herbal bitterness and a pretty defined rice flavor, it’s a touch sweet... but not horribly so, it’s also got a mild fruitiness to it. Honestly the hop character here really carries this beer, it’s pleasant and bitter and just mutes some of the less desirable flavors a touch.

Sapporo Draft Beer Kuro Label Extra Brew 1.8
grass, cooked vegetables, cinnamon, golden, clear, frothy, white foam, light sweetness, sticky, medium body. Smells of cheap happoshu, a bit more refined sweetness. Grainy and stickily sweet, too heavy for the limited flavor profile. Makes my throat hurt a bit? I guess young drinkers may go for this sort of thing... like a grown-up happoshu. I would rather not drink than sit down with a few of these.

Sapporo Yebisu Silk 2.4
Light wheat forward nose with the regular malt flavors of yebisu. Very creamy and smooth on the palate. Not grainy at all. A little bit of grassy hops on the finish. Not terribly interesting though.

Lots of sweet, milk chocolate in this one. Soda-like on the palate and overly sweet. Would be better with a little more attenuation. Decent but just too sweet. Meh.

Sapporo X Royce Chocolat Brewery Bitter 2.3
Old rating. Bitter version and it is bitter. Overly sweet still and a weird roasty bitterness that borders on astringent. There is some burnt chocolate notes, but still a mess and not really smooth or enjoyable.

Sapporo Yebisu Creamy Top Stout 3.6
Lovely beer. Do not expect an explosion of flavours, but it is dry, it looks amazing, it is ashy on the taste buds and creamy on the palate (it would take a 5 for the creamy head, but the beer itself is rather thin). Lovely dry stout from Japan. Something that is called "dry" and actually good here.

A nice big can without information about the hops and malts. A golden clear beer without character with a nice white head, the body is thin, light bitter, no smell, no finish, (I have a 0.65l can with batch 0127 and best-before date 16OCT16.)

Sapporo Draft Beer Kuro Label Extra Brew 2.5
Can from the super market. Medium golden, lots of bubbles, tall, foamy head. Slight citrus and grass hop with plain malts. Slight sweetness, bit of grain, low hop. Drinkable, lightly fruity, ok for a basic industrial lager.

Sapporo Draft Beer Kuro Label Extra Brew 3.2
Can. Grainy nose, which sweetens up with cake-light notes and powdered sugar. Clear straw color. Flavors of grain, sweetish malt, very gentle hopping, and a small lightly sweet finish. Medium body, a bit thicker than typical for the style. Nice enough. More body and flavors than most Japanese major lagers. Very drinkable.

Sapporo Craft Label Hello! Weizen 2.6
Can at Matsukawa. Pale gold, clear, low head. Malty nose, light wheat, cloves, banana. Sweet and estery, a bit thin. I don’t dig Kristallweizens much to begin with, and this is not particularly a good one.

Sapporo Yebisu Silk 2.6
35cl can from a nearby Family Mart in Tokyo. Pours clear golden with a white head. Mild wheaty and grainy aroma with fruity notes and hints of banana. Moderate sweet with a hint of acidity and fairly low flavour intensity, but still some wheaty notes. Easy to drink and certainly not the worst you can get from a can here. Refreshing enough.

Sapporo Craft Label Hello! Weizen 2.1
Can from Family Mart in Shimo-Kita. Pours a crystal clear gold with a quick dissipating finger of foam. Banana, clove and band-aid and a medicinal smell on the nose. Boozy on the palate for 5.5 abv and thin-bodied. Not creamy enough and the finish is too warming. Weird and not very good. The wheat ale is probably the best of the 3 still.

35cl can from Yours Livi, Hiroshima. Pours golden with a modest, white head. Mild malty aroma with hints of fruits, grass and metal. Moderate to medium sweet with mild flavours and a light, but noticeable bitterness. Pretty standard pale lager without much flavour or bitterness to speak of.

GoufCustom
Sapporo Mugi To Hoppu The gold Extra Malt 2.8

350 ml can bought at YATA in New Town Plaza, Shatin.

Piss golden yellow colour; Half finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Fair sticky lacing and active carbonation; Fairly pungent aroma of malt, with strong floral, strong grains, strong molasses, bread, light lemon and grass; Closed to medium sweet taste of malt, with strong barley grains, fair barley spirit, floral, molasses, biscuits, moderate lemon, notable light bitter hops and grass; Close to medium body. Quite thick and slick palate; Mouth feel is fair maltyness in a slightly sluggish background. The malt is stronger than most Happoshus, but so are the notable presence of barley grains and spirit, which seems harsher than the original “Mugi to Hoppu the gold” but by no mean off-tasted. Quite sweet, dry and biscuity with fair lemon to round. Okay…Hoppiness is strong floral, light lemon and grass in nose, and stronger in taste; Bitterness is notably stronger than most macro Pales for an abrupt, moderate light astringent grainy-malty finish; Quite dry after taste; Fairly sweet and quite lemony hoppy to mouth.

Comments: Compares to the original “Mugi to Hoppu The gold”, the addition of extra malt (if that is true) seems to make it more like macro Pales, namely stinky malt in aroma, and more grainy and sweeter in taste. It’s harsher and drier than its predecessor, but by no means off or undrinkable. Not quite an improvement, that’s all.

Sapporo Yebisu Joël Robuchon Yoin no Jikan (2016) 3.7
Can from the local Coop. Aroma: Intensely floral and citrusy, in particular, bright bitter white grapefruit with subtle grass. Palate: Light. Flavor: Floral, ripe, non-tart, white grapefruit with light grass and bitter grain. Grain, citrus and gentle, bitter grass on a medium-length finish. Comment: Surprisingly, the flavor almost lives up to the inviting aroma. If the flavor was a bit more intense, this would be outstanding. Still, it is flavorful despite the light body. While I can see why some would mark it down for this lightness, the balance of grain, citrus and hoppy aromas and flavors is pretty impressive. Easily one of the best of the large commercial Japanese brews at this point in time.
