Pleasant bitter aroma - a classic English bitter. Taste follows the aroma, but leads to a nice dry finish with all the bittering hops. Some staleness to the malts, mushrooms even. Palate a bit limp.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense Olde England Northampton 15/01/14. A golden coloured beer with a whitish head and lace. A bit fusty in the aroma which may be a conditioning thing. Reasonable hop levels in the mouth with a creamy sweetness. a bit of juicy fruit and it grows on you but this may not be at its absolute best.

Simple twiggy aroma. Looks good, a ruddy bitter with a persistent spongy beige head. Rather simple palate, a bit watery and thin, with gentle carbonation. Dull gently-twiggy bitter. Finish a little drying and, erm, twiggy. Nothing wrong with it at all, apart from the boredom factor.

Euston Tap. Light haze on this gold beer, little white head. Palate is fresh and crispy, a little dry. Starts a little weird with a whisper of sulphur (no big deal here) and a little smoke. Then minerally citrus - lemon dominated. Finishes crisp and dry. Initially a bit odd - but itís a grower and I ended up enjoying it.

Cask (Angleterre, Helsinki) - marked as 5.2%
Lightish amber, tiny persistent spongy head. Fruity ester, but some rabit hutch organic mess too. Strong full body. Very mush the English bitter, but stranegly bifurcated - itís on one side quite watery, some chalky hardness, but it also has quite a potent heady feel to it too. Improves in the finish. Hops are very dry, barky and earthy. Some wooliness too, but theeís also a great bready backdrop behind that. Good attenuation (I had a US IPA before this, the contrast was palpable)
